Word Salad: Michele Bachmann On The Hate Crimes Act

“It’s political correctness that rules the day. So when you’re part of a favored group, then you get special benefits that nobody else gets. That’s the very form of tyranny because when government supposedly gives something — government has nothing to give, they have to take it away from other people. So when they give it to that certain group, that means, by definition, they’re taking it away from you.”

– Michele Bachmann, speaking about the Hate Crimes Act in a new DVD series by David Barton.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Goes Out With A Bang - Or Not?

Outgoing Congresswoman Michele Bachmann found her advice to President Obama at the White House Christmas party on bombing Iran didn't land exactly how she expected. Via Mediaite:

“I turned to the president and I said, something to the effect of, ‘Mr. President, you need to bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities, because if you don’t, Iran will have a nuclear weapon on your watch and the course of world history will change,’” Bachmann said.

“And he got his condescending smile on his face and laughed at me and said, ‘Well Michele, it’s just not that easy.’

And I said to him, ‘No, Mr. President, you’re the president, it will happen on your watch, and you’ll have to answer to the world for this.’

And that was it and then I left. Merry Christmas.”

Michele Bachmann Calls For A Rally In Washington DC At "High Noon"

Can you believe she's STILL not gone?

Lord...

Rep. Michele Bachmann wants to hold a rally in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, December 3 at "high noon" on the west steps of the Capitol.

"We need to have a rally, and we need to go visit our senators and visit our congressmen, because nothing frightens a congressman like the whites of his constituents' eyes."

Bachmann wants Congress to defund Obama's executive action on immigration reform.

Michele Bachmann: Gays plan to get rid of age of consent laws & prey upon children

On a recent appearance on the "Faith & Liberty" radio show, wingnut Michele Bachmann says the gay community wants to “abolish age of consent laws, which means we will do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually. That’s the deviance that we’re seeing embraced in our culture today.”

She also says that the gays are out to "punish" those who don't agree with our viewpoint, thus bringing about a "rise of tyranny."

What a victim! Oh, the indignity of it all!

Sadly, there is an all too hungry audience out there for this kind of idiocy. You can hear the misguided diatribe below.

You know, I only post these things to remind us all that this happens every day in the

FOX News' Neil Cavuto shuts down Michele Bachmann on GOP House lawsuit against President Obama

Interviewing Michele Bachmann on Wednesday, FOX News' Neil Cavuto referred to John Boehner and House Republicans' lawsuit against President Obama for using executive power on issues that they have blocked in Congress as a "waste of time."

The clip below begins with Bachmann saying "Very clearly the American people are absolutely outraged..."  What she doesn't seem to grasp is that the American people are outraged at a do-nothing Congress.  And if it takes President Obama using executive orders (which are within his legal bounds) to get SOMETHING done for the American people, better that than nothing at all.

I should note that Barack Obama issued 182 executive orders between 2009 and 2014. President George W. Bush issued 291 executive orders between 2001 and 2009.  So, clearly Obama is not doing anything unusual here.

Cavuto became more impatient with Bachmann as the discussion went on:

"Where was your rage when Democrats were going after President Bush on the same use of executive orders, because I think you knew then that that was a waste of time, and I think you know in your heart of hearts this is a waste of time now."

"Crazy-eyes" Bachmann just continued on with her pre-printed talking points as if it all made sense.

Cavuto finally cuts unexpectedly to a commercial break.

Michele Bachmann says the gay community is gettng "tiresome"

Discussing Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's veto of anti-gay bill, SB-1062, Rep. Michele Bachmann told conservative radio host Lars Larson this past weekend at CPAC that the bill had nothing to do with gay people at all.

“There’s nothing about gays in there, but the gay community decided to make this their measure,” Bachmann said. “And the thing that I think is getting a little tiresome is the gay community, they have so bullied the American people and they have so intimidated politicians that politicians fear them and so they think they get to dictate the agenda everywhere. Well, not with the Constitution you don’t.”

“If you want take away my religious liberties, you can advocate for that but you do it through the constitutional process and you don’t intimidate and no politician should give away my religious liberties or yours.”

Of course, it goes without saying NO ONE is taking away anyone's religious freedoms. No one.

How Bachmann careens from a vetoed bill in another state to saying that the gay community - which makes up approximately 5% of the population - is "bullying" people is ludicrous.

Bachmann is getting her back up over recent polls showing 59% of Americans supporting same-sex marriage. She's just watching her personal world view disintegrate and she's panicked over what to do with it.

Her answer?

Demonize the gays.

Because we're "tiresome."

Michele Bachmann at CPAC: We are an "intellectual" movement

Just the idea of the words "Michele Bachmann" and "intellectual" appearing anywhere together is funny to me.

In addition to calling herself "intellectual," Bachmann told the crowd that just as America was able to overcome other threats to its survival, "we will survive Barack Obama too."

I can't imagine that Ms. Bachmann would take another run at the presidency. But if she does - BLOGGING GOLD!

Michele Bachmann feels people should be tolerant of other people's intolerance

Michele Bachmann appeared on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer Wednesday and used part of her time to urge "tolerance for the community of people who hold sincerely held religious beliefs."

While the congresswoman said she respects both sides of the debate, she said she did not think Governor Jan Brewer should veto the bill as other conservatives have been urging her to do.

Asked by Blitzer if the bill will "open the door for less tolerance for gays," Bachmann answered, "In fact, it's just the opposite. This is a decided level of intolerance. It's effectively eviscerating the rights of freedom of speech, expression and religious expression for the people of Arizona and it sets a terrible precedent."

Blitzer pushed back, calling the bill "discriminatory" and not "respectful" to the gay community. Blitzer also corrected predicted that Gov. Brewer was going to veto the bill.

Michele Bachmann lies again saying President Obama armed terrorists

Michele Bachmann throws out some more lies for her followers.

Ms. Bachmann says that President Obama "waived a ban on selling arms to terrorists."

No.

What she's referring to is this (via press release):

Today, the President signed a Presidential Determination exercising his authority to waive certain restrictions under the Arms Export Control Act.

This action will allow the U.S. Government to provide or license, where appropriate, certain non-lethal assistance inside or related to Syria. This includes:

1) chemical weapons-related personal protective equipment to international organizations, including the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, for the conduct of their operations;

2) chemical weapons-related life-saving assistance for organizations implementing Department of State or U.S. Agency for International Development programs to strengthen local Syrian health care providers’ ability to prepare for and respond to any use of chemical weapons; and

3) defensive chemical weapons-related training and personal protective equipment to select vetted members of the Syrian opposition, including the Supreme Military Council, to protect against the use of chemical weapons.

This action is part of longstanding and ongoing efforts to provide life-saving chemical weapons-related assistance to people in need in Syria.

The action was to help the Syrian opposition with NON-LETHAL ASSISTANCE - not chemical weapons.

Good lord, Michele. You just can't get anything right, can you?

Michele Bachmann says she didn't want government shutdown after she did

If it doesn't make your ears bleed...

Rep. Michele Bachmann on CNN says she never said GOP wanted government shut down, even after her own words are quoted back to her.

You know the GOP is splinted when Bachmann is getting back on TV. Clearly no one's watching the inmates back at the asylum.

Michele Bachmann: We should take away the President's magic wand and spank him

Rep. Nancy Pelosi on Michele Bachmann - "Who cares?"

Ultra-conservative Congresswoman Michele Bachmann released a statement today on the marriage equality rulings by SCOTUS:

“No man, not even a Supreme Court, can undo what a holy God has instituted,” Ms. Bachmann said in a statement. “For thousands of years of recorded human history, no society has defended the legal standard of marriage as anything other than between man and woman.” She said the court action “will undermine the best interest of children and the best interests of the United States.”

Asked to react to Bachmann’s statement, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi summed up what increasing majorities of Americans feel about such strident opposition with a dismissive “Who cares?”

Michele Bachmann resignation video - remixed

As many of you know, Michele Bachmann announced a few days ago that she would NOT be seeking a fifth term in Congress, thus ending our great national nightmare.

Above seems to be the "original, shorter" version of her video announcement - albeit just a bit "remixed."

I like this one better. Seems much truer to the spirit of Michele Bachmann, don't you think?

Michele Bachmann announces she will not seek reelection

With a voice that made my ears bleed in only 3 seconds, Michele Bachmann has announced she will not be running for a fifth term as congresswoman from Minnesota.

She especially makes clear that this decision TOTALLY has nothing to do with the fact that her 2012 campaign in currently being examined for ethics violations. She also mentions that even though she ran a clean campaign and has "no reason to believe that that was not the case," she knows that she can wear as a badge of honor that the media hates her:
"I fully anticipate the mainstream liberal media to put a detrimental spin on my decision not to seek a fifth term. Since I was first elected to Congress many years ago they always seem to find a dishonest way to disparage me. But I take being the focus of their attention and disparagement as a true compliment of my public service effectiveness."
I will note that she does look into the correct camera this time.

Who knows what she'll say in her remaining year and a half in Congress now that she isn't concerned about reelection.

Women of the World Poetry Slam: "To Michele Bachmann"

Sierra DeMulder, finalist in the 2013 Women of the World Poetry Slam, during the one minute round in WOWPS prelims in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

DeMulder takes Michele Bachmann and husband to task for their clinic which offers "reparative therapy" to gay and lesbians.

Strictly business, indeed.

Transcript (via Towleroad):

"Your husband owns a clinic that offers to cure homosexuality for up to $10,000 a year. So when you, Representative Bachmann, refused to acknowledge the bullying of gay students in your district, this must have been strictly business.

"When another gay teenager commits suicide in Minnesota, you consider this free advertising. You buy a new necklace for every hanging, a bottle of Merlot for each overdose, your husband sends 'thank you' cards to their funeral, hand-signed, all referrals welcomed.

"How could we expect you to take a stand against bullying when it helps pay for your mortgage, when it puts food in your children's belly? One day, your youngest daughter will ask you why her school supplies feel like they belong to someone else, her pencils write names that are not hers, Samantha, Nick, Aaron, Kevin. Tell her the truth Michele, that blood money is not a metaphor, that your wallet is heavy with those who have untied themselves. Tell your daughter that God is the bully with the biggest fist and you can only hope that he is on your side!"
