Bill O'Reilly vs Laura Ingraham on "bible thumping"

Conservative Fox News host Bill O'Reilly made a comment last week while using the term “Bible thumper" while discussing two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. On his show last night, Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham criticized O’Reilly for using the phrase.

“If you’re going to stand up for heterosexual marriage and exclude gay marriage, if you’re going to do that, you’ve got to do it outside the Bible,” O’Reilly explained. “You can’t cite the Bible because you will lose if you do.”

Ingraham told O’Reilly it was “disrespectful” to suggest Christians couldn’t cite the Bible, but was quickly interrupted by O'Reilly.

And on it went.

Fact of the matter is: O'Reilly is right. The conservative anti-gay marriage folks are not winning their argument because you can't make that argument based purely on "it's in the bible."

AND, another fact of the matter is, that's all they've got. Which is why the tide is turning on marriage equality.

Rutgers fires basketball coach Mike Rice over physical, verbal abuse

A day after video was aired on ESPN of Coach Mike Rice shoving, throwing basketballs (often at players heads), kicking, hurling anti-gay slurs and other language at his players, he has been fired by Rutgers University.

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti fired Rice on Wednesday. Pernetti knew of the video, disseminated by lawyers of a former Rutgers athletics employee, since at least December but says he tried to "rehabilitate" Rice instead of fire him.

"I am responsible for the decision to attempt a rehabilitation of Coach Rice," Pernetti said in a statement. "Dismissal and corrective action were debated in December and I thought it was in the best interest of everyone to rehabilitate, but I was wrong. Moving forward, I will work to regain the trust of the Rutgers community."

The Ready For Hillary PAC website launched today!

Squee!!!

Nothing is for sure but the site does have the disclaimer "Not Authorized by any Candidate or Candidate's Committee."

Here's what USA Today has to say:

The super PAC launched in late January and says it now has more than 100,000 supporters. Veterans of Clinton's campaign, including Ready for Hillary executive director Adam Parkhomenko and spokesman Seth Bringman, are also on board as staff. Black campaigned for Clinton in 14 states in 2008.

"While the 2016 presidential campaign is more than three years away, early public opinion polls already show support for Clinton. A Quinnipiac Poll released last month showed Clinton would lead Republicans such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan by strong double digits.

"Clinton has not discussed her political future, but her recent declaration in support of same-sex marriage was viewed by some political observers as a sign she may be a presidential candidate in 2016.
