Trump "Apologizes" To Brett Kavanaugh, Falsely Claims He Was "Proven Innocent"

At a ceremonial swearing in at the White House last night, Donald Trump falsely claimed that newly-installed Justice Brett Kavanaugh had been "proven innocent" of the allegations of sexual misconduct brought against him by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Trump claimed the allegations were based on "lies and deceptions."

Said Trump:

“On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure. Those who step forward to serve our country deserve a fair and dignified evaluation, not a campaign of personal and political destruction based on lies and deception.

"What happened to the Kavanaugh family violates every notion of fairness, decency and due process. In our country, a man or a woman must always be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

"And with that, I must state that you, sir, under historic scrutiny, were proven innocent.”

The Trumpster literally can't stop himself from lying, as if by saying something over and over again he can create his own reality.

Brett Kavanaugh Confirmed To The Supreme Court By Vote Of 50-48

The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court today by a vote of 50-48.

The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court today by a vote of 50-48.

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski withdrew her 'no' vote as a courtesy to Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines, who is walking his daughter down the aisle in Montana today.

There's an irony that Kavanaugh is the 69th judge confirmed by the Trump administration.

Trump's Lies Side By Side Christine Blasey Ford's Testimony

Earlier this week, the president of the United States stood before a crowd and openly mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

In a breathtaking lack of decorum or civility, Donald Trump told his followers that Ford testified that she didn't remember hardly any details surrounding her alleged sexual assault by soon-to-be Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Now This put Dr. Ford's testimony next to Trump's crass rally display.

She doesn't remember? Really?

And speaking of remembering, Charles Ludington, Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher, who attended Yale University from 1983 to 1987 with Kavanaugh, penned an op-ed for the Washington Post denouncing Kavanaugh's lies during his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee about his drinking.

They should know - they were his drinking buddies.

We were college classmates and drinking buddies with Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh. In the past week, all three of us decided separately to respond to questions from the media regarding Brett’s honesty, or lack thereof. In each of our cases, it was his public statements during a Fox News TV interview and his sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee that prompted us to speak out.

We each asserted that Brett lied to the Senate by stating, under oath, that he never drank to the point of forgetting what he was doing. We said, unequivocally, that each of us, on numerous occasions, had seen Brett stumbling drunk to the point that it would be impossible for him to state with any degree of certainty that he remembered everything that he did when drunk.

Sens. Susan Collins & Joe Manchin Announce 'Yes' Votes To Confirm Kavanaugh To Supreme Court

Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine announced during a lengthy speech on the floor of the Senate that she will vote 'yes' on confirming Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Shortly after her announcement, red state Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin also announced he will vote 'yes' as well, which appears to give Kavanaugh the 51 votes he needs for confirmation.

Manchin, in a tough re-election fight in West Virginia, is the only Democrat to cross party lines and vote for Kavanaugh.

Brett Kavanaugh Pens Op-Ed: "I Might Have Been Too Emotional At Times"

Judge Brett Kavanaugh

U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh penned a last-minute op-ed for the conservative Wall Street Journal defending his defensive and pointed Senate Judiciary Committee testimony last week.

From The Wall Street Journal:

My hearing testimony was forceful and passionate. That is because I forcefully and passionately denied the allegation against me.

At times, my testimony—both in my opening statement and in response to questions—reflected my overwhelming frustration at being wrongly accused, without corroboration, of horrible conduct completely contrary to my record and character. My statement and answers also reflected my deep distress at the unfairness of how this allegation has been handled.

I was very emotional last Thursday, more so than I have ever been. I might have been too emotional at times. I know that my tone was sharp, and I said a few things I should not have said.

I hope everyone can understand that I was there as a son, husband and dad. I testified with five people foremost in my mind: my mom, my dad, my wife, and most of all my daughters.

It's notable that Kavanaugh chose two Murdoch-owned media outlets to make his case: Fox News for his TV interview and Wall Street Journal for his op-ed.

FBI Investigation 'Complete,' Republicans Say Time To Move On To Kavanaugh Vote

Judge Brett Kavanaugh

Well, that was quick.

The 'new' FBI investigation into allegations that Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford when the were teens, is done say Senate Republicans.

The report, which will not be released to the public, is available for all 100 U.S. Senators to review, albeit for only an hour.

And one at a time, as only one copy has been made available in an effort to ensure it's not leaked to the public.

There are apparently 46 pages of interview summaries in the report, with nine pages devoted to Kavanaugh's former bestie, Mark Judge, who agreed to cooperate.

Ford says Judge was in the room years ago when the alleged assault took place.

Republicans say there's nothing new to see.

“There’s nothing in it that we didn’t already know,” Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said in a statement Thursday. “These uncorroborated accusations have been unequivocally and repeatedly rejected by Judge Kavanaugh, and neither the Judiciary Committee nor the F.B.I. could locate any third parties who can attest to any of the allegations.”

But Democrats counter that there's nothing in the report that makes them believe Ford's allegations any less.

Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley tweeted, "I read the FBI report. This whole thing is a sham. This stunted, strangled investigation was designed to provide cover, not to provide the truth."

According to The New York Times, several leads and identified witnesses were not interviewed.

In any case, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already scheduled preliminary votes in the full Senate regarding Kavanaugh's nomination.

The Times notes that Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine, two important Republican swing votes, have indicated they seem satisfied with the report, although neither have announced how they ultimately plan to vote on Kavanaugh's nomination.

Interestingly, Axios reports that the Kavanaugh debacle seems to have tightened several races in the upcoming midterm elections as the issue seems to have energized Republicans in states like Montana, Indiana, West Virginia, Missouri and Tennessee.

Plus, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released yesterday found that the "wide Democratic enthusiasm advantage that has defined the 2018 campaign up to this point has disappeared."

While last month the Democrats appeared to hold a double-digit lead over Republicans in a generic ballot, that lead has now dropped to only 6 points.

Trump Openly Mocks Brett Kavanaugh Accuser Christine Blasey Ford

Americans were stunned last night as Donald Trump openly mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford at a campaign rally.

After telling the press that she had been "very compelling" last week after her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Trump questioned her credibility last night.

Imitating Ford and her questioner, Trump said, “‘I had one beer.’ Well do you think it was...?”

“‘Nope. It was one beer.’ Oh good. How did you get home? ‘I don’t remember.’"

"How did you get there? ‘I don’t remember.’"

"Where is the place? ‘I don’t remember.’"

"How many years ago was it? ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.’”

“What neighborhood was it in? ‘I don’t know.’ Where’s the house? ‘I don’t know. Upstairs. Downstairs. I don’t know. But I had one beer, that’s the only thing I remember.’”

And the crowd went wild. Watch below.

SNL Cold Open: Matt Damon's Delivers Epic Take On Brett Kavanaugh

Epic cold open on SNL last night as Oscar winner Matt Damon delivered a spot on Judge Brett Kavanaugh testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Asking the questions were Senators Chuck Grassley (Alex Moffat), Dianne Feinstein (Cecily Strong), Amy Klobuchar (Rachel Dratch), Thom Tillis (Mikey Day), Cory Booker (Chris Redd), John Kennedy (Kyle Mooney), Sheldon Whitehouse (Pete Davidson), Lindsey Graham (Kate McKinnon) and prosecutor Rachel Mitchell (Aidy Bryant).

So many great lines here, I don't want to say too much. But you will definitely find a lot to laugh at here.

Damon is on fire right out of the gate with his opening statement.

“Let me tell you this,” he said. “I’m going to start at an 11. I’m going to take it to about a 15 real quick. First of all I showed this speech to almost no one — not my family, not my friends. … This is my speech. There are others like it, but this is mine. I wrote it myself last night while screaming into an empty bag of Doritos.”

Former SNL-er Rachel Dratch was dead on as Klobuchar inquiring about Kavanaugh's drinking habits in school.

Asked if he drank too much, Damon’s Kavanaugh replied: “Look, I like beer. O.K.? I like beer. Boys like beer. Girls like beer. I like beer. I like beer.”

Dratch pressed on, asking, “Did you ever drink too many beers?”

And in total prep school perfection, Damon's Kavanaugh replied, “You mean was I cool? Yeah.”

And then there was Kate McKinnon's take on Sen. Lindsey Graham's now-infamous tirade. “I know I’m supposed to shut up because I’m a single white male, 5’10” uncut. But I will not shut up because this is a bunch of crap,” he said.

54% Of Republicans Feel Kavanaugh Should Be Confirmed Even If Sexual Misconduct Allegations Are True

A recent Marist poll shows a majority of Republicans - 54% - feel Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh should be confirmed even if the allegations of sexual misconduct by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford are true.

A recent Marist poll shows a majority of Republicans - 54% - feel Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh should be confirmed even if the allegations of sexual misconduct by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford are true.

Drilling down a bit deeper, the results showed 48% of Evangelical Republicans don't mind his confirmation even if the accusations by Ford are true. That says something, doesn't it?

Thirty-two percent of Republicans do not believe Kavanaugh should sit on the high court if Ford's allegations are true.

Only 12% of Democrats believed that he should be confirmed if the allegations are true.

The same poll showed Kavanaugh is upside down in his approval ratings with 31% approval versus 37% disapproving.

Jeff Flake Asks For FBI Investigation Before Full Senate Vote On Kavanaugh

Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona asked colleagues to delay full vote on Brett Kavanaugh
Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona asked colleagues to delay full vote on Brett Kavanaugh

Supreme Court hopeful Judge Brett "Skippy" Kavanaugh saw his nomination approved out of committee to a full floor vote in the Senate along a party line vote of 11-10.

However, GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona told his colleagues, "I'll move it out of committee, but I will only be comfortable moving forward on the floor until the FBI has done more investigation than it has done already."

Shortly before the committee vote, a woman stopped Flake in an elevator and shared her own story of sexual assault.

The dramatic, emotional moment went viral.

From The Daily Beast:

“It was all kind of a blur,” Gallagher recalled in an interview with The Daily Beast. “We all ran after him. We held open the elevator and I just started telling him why it was important and what had happened to me and why he should not let Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.”

What followed was an excruciating exchange that lasted only five minutes in time but could, just maybe, change the course of history. After another woman, Ana Maria Archila, admonished Flake for supporting Kavanaugh, Gallagher jumped in.

“I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me,” she said. “I didn’t tell anyone, and you’re telling all women that they don’t matter.”

Red State Dem Sen. Joe Manchin Will Be A "No" On Kavanaugh

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of deep red state West Virginia has been seen as a possible swing vote regarding the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanuagh. Until now. Manchin, who is in a tough race for re-election this November in a state that Donald Trump won by 42 points, has announced he will be a "no" vote on Kavanaugh.

According to reports, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated he believes he has 48 firm "yes" votes. The Republicans need at least 50 (plus a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Mike Pence) to confirm Kavanaugh.

The three remaining Republicans are Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Jeff Flake (Arizona).

Ian Millhiser of ThinkProgress reports that it appeared Manchin, Collins, Murkowski and Joe Donnelly (a previously announced "no") could be voting in a bloc. That could mean this would be very bad news for Kavanaugh.

Senate Dems Walk Out After Judiciary Republicans Schedule Kavanaugh Vote

(screen capture)

Democratic Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) just walked out of a meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee after Republicans decided to schedule a vote today on approving the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

This follows a call from the American Bar Association last night to delay the vote on Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation until the allegations of sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and others have been investigated by the F.B.I.

The American Bar Association had previously given Kavanaugh its full-throated approval.

Sworn Affidavits, Polygraphs & Beer

So, for the Trump-faithful who believe all sexual accusers are lying, if it was your daughter talking sexual misconduct by Brett Kavanaugh, would you be sooooo stalwart in your support of him?

I’m a gay man with no children, but I have a god son I love very much. If someone touched him I’d risk going to prison defending him.

Will there be NO stepping back and considering that a woman - who has held security clearances in the Justice and State departments - has stepped forward, signed a sworn affidavit (which could be prosecuted for lying under oath) and risked her entire professional life to tell her experience with Kavanaugh?

This isn’t just a quote to USAToday. This is a fucking sworn affidavit.

A LOT of consideration went into this.

And speaking of consideration, we are facing with weighing this: is it POSSIBLE that a white, Republican guy from a wealthy family in the DC area partied hearty, got a bit too ‘alpha’ and lost sight of boundaries while drinking too much in the go-go 80s?

Oh gee, who’s ever heard of that?

I grew up with these guys. In that era.

Oh, no - I don’t think that’s unbelievable at all (insert sarcasm here).

I was a fraternity brother in college who heard the phrase "running a train upstairs" more than once.

So, pardon me if I find four women coming forward, risking their lives and professional careers, out of respect for a spot on the highest court in the land, believable.

Dr. Ford has already taken a polygraph test that showed the possibility of her lying is less than 1%.

Less than 1%.

Will Brett Kavanaugh submit himself to a similar polygraph test? So far, the answer is no.

An appointment to the Supreme Court is for LIFE. And affects us all for decades.

DECADES.

If Kavanaugh won’t subject himself to a polygraph test, as his accusers have, you have to ask yourself - Why?

Brett Kavanaugh: "I Did Things In High School That Make Me Cringe Now"

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh

After presenting himself to the nation as a "virgin" who never ever drank in excess during high school or college in an interview with Fox News earlier this week, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh now admits he was "not perfect" and did drink in high school.

From The Washington Post:

In his prepared testimony for Thursday’s Senate hearing, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh says he was ‘not perfect’ in high school and drank beer with friends but strongly denies having committed sexual assault.

“In retrospect, I said and did things in high school that make me cringe now,” he says, adding that “sometimes I had too many” when he drank beer.

But Kavanaugh says what he has been accused of by Christine Blasey Ford is altogether different.

“What I’ve been accused of is far more serious than juvenile misbehavior,” Kavanaugh says in testimony released by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “I never did anything remotely resembling what Dr. Ford describes.”

Kavanaugh says he is the victim of “grotesque and obvious character assassination.”

“There has been a frenzy to come up with something — anything, no matter how far-fetched or odious — that will block a vote on my nomination,” Kavanaugh says, in the testimony released by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “These are last minute smears, pure and simple.”

In his Fox News interview with Martha McCallum, Kavanaugh asserted he'd never done "anything" like what has been described by his accusers nor had he ever consumed alcohol in excess.

Donald Trump: Brett Kavanaugh Is A "Gem"

Donald Trump doubled-down on his beleaguered Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh calling Kavanaugh "a gem."

Donald Trump doubled-down on his beleaguered Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh calling Kavanaugh "a gem."

The Trumpster also indicated the Republicans weighing Kavanaugh's nomination could not be "nicer," and that he would have preferred the nominee to have been pushed through more quickly.

This comes in the same morning that a 3rd Kavanaugh accuser came forward to allege she not only witnessed 'gang rapes' in which Kavanaugh took part in during high school house parties, but became a victim of those 'gang rapes.'

Breaking: 3rd Kavanaugh Accuser Comes Forward With Allegations of 'Gang Rape'

Julie Swetnick

CNN producer Javi Morgado has shared on Facebook the deposition of Julie Swetnick, who has come forward accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of being involved in 'gang rapes' during the 1980s.

She alleges she witnessed Kavanaugh and his bestie Mark Judge 'spike' the punch at parties with alcohol and drugs to help drug girls and lower their inhibitions. She says she

“I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their ‘turn’ with a girl inside the room. These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh,” Swetnick said.

She not only saw the behavior at house parties during that time, but became a victim of one of those 'gang rapes.' She alleges Kavanaugh and Mark Judge were involved.

According to her signed affidavit, she has witnesses to support her allegations.

Swetnick is the client Michael Avenatti has been referring to in his tweets of late.

Swetnick is no slacker. She's held security clearances with the federal government in the Justice Department, State Department, Homeland Security and more.

In a statement released by the White House, Kavanaugh denied the new allegations:

“This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone. I don’t know who this is and this never happened.”

Convicted Felon/NRA Prez Oliver North Defends Brett "Skippy" Kavanaugh

That bastion of honor, Oliver North, convicted felon and NRA president, defends Supreme Court nominee Brett "Skippy" Kavanaugh in a new spot from the NRA:

“A man who refers to himself as Spartacus smears a man who serves the homeless, as a racist. A political party coordinates violent protests to smear a father and run his children out of the room. A man who lied about military service, who stole valor, smears a humble public servant and calls for his nomination to the Supreme Court to be withdrawn. A woman who wants to confiscate your firearms leaks an unsubstantiated accusation to smear a man because he believes in our Second Amendment.

“Politicians call a privileged senator who killed a woman, a lion, and now they smear Brett Kavanaugh as a threat to women. Since the election of Donald Trump, the character assassination of good Americans like Brett Kavanaugh by those with half his intellect and a fraction of his virtue, has been unconscionable.

“I didn’t hold dying Marines in my arms defending freedom, so corrupt politicians could disgrace their heroic sacrifice. We the people denounce their character assassination, their hypocrisy, their lies. And we proudly stand with Brett Kavanaugh. And we the people, will bring dignity back to our democratic process.”

In 1989, North was convicted of lying to Congress, shredding documents and accepting an illegal gratuity as a result of the Iran/Contra scandal.

Tweets Of The Day: Brett "Skippy" Kavanaugh

Now that four women have claimed sexual misconduct by Supreme Court nominee Brett "Skippy" Kavanaugh, "Skippy" has offered up his personal calendars dating back to the early 1980s, when he was in high school, to show he didn't attend the party where his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, says he sexually assaulted her.

First of all, who do you know has their "high school calendars" 30+ years later?

Second, what high school student in the 1980s notated the parties they got drunk at on those calendars they kept for 30+ years?

Finally, if his "calendars" don't include the parties where he noted he and his friends drank 100 kegs in 1982-1983, then he's just proved the calendars are bullshit, right?
