Taron Egerton Covers Attitude Magazine

Taron Egerton covers Attitude Magazine's June Issue

Taron Egerton, who plays pop superstar Elton John in the upcoming musical fantasy biopic Rocketman, shares with Attitude Magazine there was a time he wondered if he might be gay.

“When I was 14 or 15, I had a period of thinking I might be gay and I spoke to my mother about it,” says the 29-year-old. “It was a part of a period in my life where my mind was figuring things out.”

There’s something many of us can relate to.

Blaming the confusion on teenage hormones, Egerton admits it’s a time when “you question everything.”

“It was a very real feeling to me, and I was very panicked and upset about how I would be perceived,” the Welsh actor told Attitude. “That is not the same as going through it for real, but there is some understanding of what it might be like, and I remember feeling that acutely.”

The Kingsman star admits it’s not the same thing as coping with coming out himself, but “I guess there is a small kernel of that which I have experienced.”

Additionally, he shares that his roommate and bestie in drama school came out to him during that time, and he had a first-hand view of how the coming out process can impact a person.

“I’ve had someone cry in my arms about the fact that they were so terrified and at a loss at what to do,” he says.

When you add all that up, it’s not surprising that Egerton recently told GQ UK that he “always felt more at home in a gay club than at a football match.”

Still, Egerton is sympathetic that he landed a plum role that many gay actors would have relished.

“I completely understand why a gay actor would feel that this is an opportunity for which they would be better suited,” he acknowledged. “The way I feel about it is Elton asked me to play in a movie about his life. I am proud and privileged to be playing this person who happens to be gay.”

He also guarantees the film will not be 'straight-washed,' as many alleged the recent Bohemian Rhapsody hedged on the sexuality of Freddie Mercury.

"I would not have played this character if I didn't think we could make a film the gay community would watch and feel a sense of ownership of," he promises.

Colton Haynes Shares Dark Details Of His Struggle With Addiction

In startlingly candid detail, actor Colton Haynes shares how his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, paralyzing anxiety, the death of his mother and the end of his marriage led him to some very dark places.
Colton Haynes covers Attitude Magazine's 25th Anniversary issue
In startlingly candid detail, actor Colton Haynes shares how his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, paralyzing anxiety, the death of his mother and the end of his marriage led him to some very dark places.

In the cover story for Attitude Magazine’s 25th Anniversary issue, the Teen Wolf/Arrow star opens up about his dangerous downward spiral that led him to recovery.

“In 10 years, there were maybe 25 days I didn’t drink,” he tells Attitude. “I remember when I started, it was a couple glasses of wine, and it regressed into really dark times. I used to blame it on my anxiety or depression issues, but really the root of all my problems was the alcohol and drugs.”

Haynes points to his public coming out in 2016 as the catalyst that pushed his personal issues to the edge.

“I came out and, in a way, my downward spiral started,” he admits. “I felt extremely free but at the same time the amount of attention I was getting was making me spin out of control.”

“I got married and that didn’t work out," Haynes continues. “That was extremely public and heart-breaking, and right when that was going on, my mom died.”

The passing of his mother was apparently the last straw - “My brain broke.”

The American Horror Story alum shares that when he showed up for his first day of work on a ‘massive comedy for a studio,’ he was abruptly fired that day.

“They said I looked as if I had ‘dead in my eyes’, and I did,” Haynes admits. “I got so heavily involved with drugs and alcohol to mask the amount of pain I was feeling that I couldn’t even make some decisions for myself.”

“I was drowning in my own sh*t.”

It was during those dark days that Haynes would experience two seizures, but wouldn’t remember them until he found sobriety.

But that would be a rocky road to travel. The journey to recovery included multiple hospital admissions for alcohol and drug abuse.

It wasn’t until after a 7-day bender in a Los Angeles hotel room that he was committed via a 5150 psychiatric hold for three days. When he was found in the hotel room, he admits to having major bruises all over his body, loss of partial sight in his left eye, and serious kidney issues.

Haynes saw the incident as a “rude awakening” as he hit rock bottom.

“I was ready to stop running from my own problems,” said Haynes.

He entered a four-month treatment program, and says he has been sober for six months now.

“Once I went to treatment, I found this amazing amount of true love for myself, and started figuring out who I am without those vices, and recognizing the people in my life who lifted me up instead of tearing me down.”

Like many who struggle with addiction, Haynes now realizes he’s “always going to be in recovery.”

The TV super hero is sharing his story now because, “There are so many people struggling out there, but not a lot of them talk about it.”

With sobriety comes clarity, and with clarity comes a new perspective.

“Life is much more beautiful than I could have imagined,” he says. “It’s just a different life now. It’s the best gift I’ve ever been given.”

Check out Haynes’s full cover story/interview in the May 2019 issue of Attitude Magazine.

The hunky actor also shared some of the Leigh Keily photo shoot for Attitude with his 6.6 million Instagram followers.

Matthew Camp Covers Attitude Magazine "There's Nothing Shameful About Sex"

Former go-go dancer turned social media influencer, hunky Matthew Camp covers the new issue of Attitude Magazine.

Camp first found his spotlight at the age of 21 in the New York City club scene as a go-go dancer.

From there he landed roles in indie movies like Getting Go: The Go Doc Project (loosely based on his life) and the experimental Sock Job which sent him into a new orbit.

Today, the 34-year-old social media star is utilizing his 550,000+ followers on Instagram to fuel his creative endeavors like designing his own fashion and fragrance line as well as pump up the volume about his OnlyFans account where he can share his own sexually-based content with fans for a monthly fee.

In December, Camp told me he was preparing a new video project that delves into a person’s sexual personality by exploring formative sexual experiences from their past.

The format will be a hybrid of documentary/experimental art film.

In the new issue of Attitude Magazine, Camp explains his own vision for how, what and where he shares himself to fans.

“I’d wanted to shoot sex videos for a while because I feel there’s this divide between art and sex,” he tells Attitude. “I don’t see them as different. They’re both an emotional expression.”

“I like the OnlyFans aspect because you can curate your own, and share them with people,” he adds.

“It’s important to document sex because there’s nothing wrong with it, there’s nothing shameful about it and there’s nothing crazy about it,” says the sex-positive advocate. “You should be able to watch sex as entertainment.”

The internet sensation also points out that, “Everyone’s body is a commodity - whether they realise it or not.”

“To me, there’s no difference between somebody standing behind a cash register for 10 hours a day and another person who has sex for 10 or 20 grand a month,” explains the California-born influencer. “Who’s having more fun?”

Raising the ‘pleasure principal,’ (if you will) Camp says, “It’s about life choices, and people being indoctrinated with guilt about enjoying their life."

Check out Matthew's full photo shoot and interview in the Attitude Body Issue, out now.

I interviewed Camp for my podcast not long ago where shared his thoughts on blurring the lines between sex and art. I found him to be a great interview.

Canoeing Champ Matt Lister Covers Attitude Magazine

Canoeing champ Matt Lister is one of two cover men for Attitude Magazine's June issue, along with transgender American model Laith Ashley.

Lister tells Attitude that the coming out process was a little complicated for him:

“I didn’t want to come out while I was in school because I was already bullied for being a fat, spotty kid and I was bigger than everyone and I was hairy. I may as well have just worn a target. I didn’t want to add another thing to that pile, so I just waited till the last year of school, when I was in the sixth form.”

“I would never shame someone for not coming out because it’s a personal choice and it’s a difficult thing to go through, but I feel as if it’s a necessity for the LGBT community because you’re in the public eye”, Matt says.

“People are watching you, even people who aren’t involved in sport that maybe want to get into it, but they don’t try because they think it doesn’t fit them.”

You can watch a bit of the 'behind the scenes' action at Matt's photo shoot below:

Hunky Gus Kenworthy Covers Attitude Magazine

Out Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy on the cover of Attitude Magazine

The handsome, swoon-worthy Olympic skier took time out from his extreme-sports competition schedule for Attitude Magazine.

In an exclusive 10-page shoot and interview in our brand new March Issue – available to download now and in shops today – the Gus reveals how heartbreak helped inspire him to finally go public about his sexuality, recalls the homophobic he used to be confronted with from his friends and fellow competitors, and admits he thinks Russia’s anti-gay laws made it “unfit” to host the Sochi Winter Olympics back in 2014.

Kenworthy has mentioned recently that his publicist had asked him to pull back on the shirtless pics, much to our dismay. But there's plenty of biceps and smiles to hold us over here.

Check out the behind-the-scenes video below.
