Trump Gets Twice-Daily "Propaganda Document" Filled With Positive Stories About Him

Twice a day since the beginning of the Trump administration, a special folder is prepared for the president. The first document is prepared around 9:30 a.m. and the follow-up, around 4:30 p.m. Former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former Press Secretary Sean Spicer both wanted the privilege of delivering the 20-to-25-page packet to President Trump personally, White House sources say.

These sensitive papers, described to VICE News by three current and former White House officials, don’t contain top-secret intelligence or updates on legislative initiatives. Instead, the folders are filled with screenshots of positive cable news chyrons (those lower-third headlines and crawls), admiring tweets, transcripts of fawning TV interviews, praise-filled news stories, and sometimes just pictures of Trump on TV looking powerful.

One White House official said the only feedback the White House communications shop, which prepares the folder, has ever gotten in all these months is: “It needs to be more fucking positive.” That’s why some in the White House ruefully refer to the packet as “the propaganda document.”

Apparently, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former Press Secretary Sean Spicer used to compete about who got to deliver the packet of praise.

It's no wonder Trump thinks his administration is doing better than it really is.

Donald Trump went on another of his Twitter rants yesterday railing about the use of unnamed "sources" in news reports about him.

As you can see above, he says "Whenever you see the words 'sources say' in the fake news media, and they don't mention names... it is very possible that those sources don't exist but are made up by fake news writers. #FakeNews is the enemy!"

Now, when he says sources don't exist, is it possible he speaks from first hand experience?

FBI Director Fact-Checks President Trump In Real Time During House Intel Committee Testimony

During today's testimony by FBI Director James Comey and National Security Director Mike Rogers in front of the House Intelligence Committee, President Trump tweeted that the two directors had told Congress "Russia did not influence (the) electoral process" in the 2016 presidential campaign.

While the FBI Director had testified that he had no evidence that voting machines had been tampered with, he did not say the same regarding Russia having an "influence" on the election.

George Stephanopoulos Shuts Down Trump Spokesperson On "Wire Tap" Lies

White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared on both Good Morning America and The Today Show this morning in an attempt to bolster President Trump's unsubstantiated claim that President Obama ordered a wire tap on Trump Tower phones during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Clearly Sanders was proud of herself (or a White House staffer) who seemed to come up with her folksy line about walking on water since she repeated the same dialogue on both shows.

“The media loves to create this false narrative against the current president but is so quick to dismiss anything under the past administration. If the president walked across the Potomac, the media would report that he couldn’t swim.”

During the GMA appearance, George Stephanopoulos tried to stay to the facts asking Huckabee Sanders if Trump accepts FBI Director James Comey’s public denial that the wiretap happened. With a straight face, Huckabee Sanders replied, “You know, I don’t think that he does.”

Several times during the segment, Huckabee Sanders would attempt to draw a false equivalence between Trump’s assertion of wiretapping, and the alleged connections between Trump and Russian officials. Stephanopoulos wasn't having it.

More than once, TV viewers heard Stephanopoulos stop Huckabee Sanders with, "I've got to stop you. That is simply not true … Not a single one of those articles backs it up. So what is the president's evidence?"

Huckabee Sanders eventually turned back to her clearly rehearsed line about Trump walking across the Potomac, looking quite pleased with herself.

Donald Trump: Every Dress Shop In DC Is Sold Out For The Inauguration

Speaking to the New York Times about Meryl Streep's Golden Globes speech last night, Donald Trump boasted that his inauguration will be "record-setting" in numbers. In fact, according to Trump, there are no formal gowns to be had anywhere in Washington for the big event.

From the New York Times:

“We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” Mr. Trump said. “All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

The Washington Post decided to fact-check whether or not that claim was true.

And of course, it ends up being a lie.

Definitely not, said Martha Slagle, vice president and general manager of the Neiman Marcus in Friendship Heights. If a ball attendee were to walk in today, “you have more than a thousand evening gowns to choose from,” she said, noting that the store stocks up every four years in anticipation of inauguration demand. Classic black? Got ’em. Colorful garments? Yep, those, too — plus furs and wraps and evening coats for the notoriously chilly January nights, she said.

Slagle actually laughed when we mentioned Trump’s claim about the status of Washington’s dress options. “I’m stuffed with beautiful gowns,” she said. Even the city’s smaller boutiques still have plenty of stock. “We always have dresses,” said Krista Johnson, the owner of Georgetown designer-consignment shop Ella Rue. “Unless a thousand people came in today, we’d still have choices.” Johnson said her racks include everything from on-trend formal rompers to runway pieces, from labels like Oscar de la Renta, Alexis and Moschino.

Why this guy has to exaggerate every single thing that comes out of his mouth, I have no idea.

If You Repeat A Lie Often Enough

Here's proof that if you repeat a lie often enough, some folks will believe it.

Clinton’s lead now exceeds 2.8 million votes (more than 2.1 percent of the total vote) and continues to grow. Many Democrats hope this fact alone might persuade Republican electors to reject Trump in favor of some alternative. But this hope faces a serious challenge: Half of all Republicans actually think Trump won the popular vote.

In a nationally representative online survey of 1,011 Americans conducted by Qualtrics between Dec. 6 and 12, we asked respondents, “In last month’s election, Donald Trump won the majority of votes in the electoral college. Who do you think won the most popular votes?”

Twenty-nine percent said Donald Trump won the popular vote. This is a slightly larger proportion than in a recent Pew survey in which 19 percent said Trump won the popular vote.

Respondents’ correct understanding of the popular vote depended a great deal on partisanship. A large fraction of Republicans — 52 percent — said Trump won the popular vote, compared with only 7 percent of Democrats and 24 percent of independents.

So why do we hear so many "terrible, awful, dreadful" details about the Affordable Care Act?

Because the multi-billionaire Koch Brothers have spent $27 million through their "Americans For Prosperity" fund to spread their lies.

Congressman doesn't care "what fact check says"

During an appearance on CNN’s Starting Point on Monday, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) could not explain when President Obama “apologized” for the United States, despite repeatedly claiming that he went on an “apology tour” across the Middle East shortly after becoming president.

Republicans have charged many times that Obama’s “defeatist” policies have caused the unrest in the middle East and contributed to the death of Libyan ambassador Christopher Stevens. But pressed to detail where Obama has apologized for America by CNN host Soledad O’Brien, King came up short:

O’BRIEN: Never once in that speech, as you know, which I have the speech right here. that was — he never once used the word “apology.” He never once said “I’m sorry.”

KING: Didn’t have to. The logical — any logical reading of that speech or the speech he gave in France where he basically said that the United States can be too aggressive. [...]

O’BRIEN: Everybody keeps talking about this apology tour and apologies from the President. I’m trying to find the words ‘I’m sorry, I apologize’ in any of those speeches. Which I have the text of all those speeches in front of me. None of those speeches at all, if you go to factcheck.org which we check in a lot, they all say the same thing. They fact check this and they say this whole theory of apologies…

KING: I don’t care what fact check says.

O’BRIEN: There are fact checks. You may not care, but they’re a fact checker.

KING: No. Soledad. Any commonsense interpretation of those speeches, the president’s apologizing for the American position. That’s the apology tour. That’s the way it’s interpreted in the Middle East. If I go over and say that the U.S. has violated its principles, that the United States has not shown respect for islam, that’s an apology. How else can it be interpreted?

O’BRIEN: I think plenty of people are interpreting it as a nuanced approach to diplomacy is how some people are interpreting it. So I don’t think that everybody agrees it’s apology.

I've personally looked for these "apologies" from President Obama and like Soledad, I haven't been able to find ONE instance where the President has said "I apologize for the United States" - or anything even close to that.

Congressman King and his group know that this is all just "red meat" for their base.

And it's also a lie.

New York Times calls out Romney/Ryan lies and distortions

In an Op/Ed piece in the New York Times, the paper ran an editorial calling out many lies and distortions put out by the Romney/Ryan campaign. And I, for one, am glad.

Run on your record, run on your truth. But don't lie and distort to make yourself look better.

A few of the issues the New York Times highlights:

Deficit Commission: While Ryan spoke of the Simpson-Bowles commission, what he didn't mention was that HE was a part of that panel. AND he voted against the commission's recommendations.

Credit Rating: Ryan talked about the down-grading of the US credit rating blaming the President. What he didn't mention was that the credit rating was down-graded because the GOP fought raising the debt ceiling for spending that had already happened and had been approved by Congress.

Medicare: Ryan tried to portray the President as "raiding" the Medicare fund of $716 billion dollars. The problem with that is HE himself had already recommended cutting the same amount from Medicare. However, the President's savings would come not from trimming benefits for current recipients, but from cutting the projected growth in reimbursements to hospitals and insurers over the next decade.

President Obama - "Romney wants ME to apologize?"

Seriously, folks, Romney practically walked into his own pothole here.

He spends months making up lines like "Obama apologizes to our foes" when the President has never done such a thing, and now turns around and says "We should be talking about the issues." SRSLY?

And now that major news sources are investigating whether Romney has lied about his tenure with Bain Capital, Romney wants the President to apologize? For Romney's own misstatements?

SRSLY.

Romney: Did he leave Bain Capital in 1999 or later?

So the issue is this: Mitt Romney has said he left Bain Capital in February 1999. Now, SEC documents show him to have stayed on as CEO of Bain for approximately three more years.

This matters because Romney has said all the things that happened (like outsourcing jobs and bankrupting companies) after 1999 when he said he wasn't with the company weren't his responsibility. But now, maybe they were since he is shown on company documents showing he was still CEO.

What it comes down to is: did Romney lie on SEC documents to protect his own investments and money? Or is he lying to the US public now?

Chris Matthews: Hearings on no Iraq WMD

I watch Chris Matthews "Hardball" everyday. He is absolutely honest, direct and fair with every guest that comes on his show. Democrat or Repub, he demands honesty and direct answers. I've seen him call out anyone who tries to double-speak their way out of something.

Yesterday, in light of the fact that more and more people have come forward saying there was no evidence of WMD in Iraq. Over 4,500 American soldiers have died and over 100,000 Iraqis have died. "Curveball" - the Iraqi who said the weapons were there now admits he made it up. Rumsfeld now admits we had no evidence.

The war in Iraq was sold to the US people with the scare tactic that Iraq HAD Weapons of Mass Destruction and they were "coming to get us." This, after 9/11, made the US people so afraid that they supported the war.

If the last administration had come to the US people and said "Hussein's a bad guy - we're going to invade a country that has never attacked us and lose 4,500 American lives to free the Iraqi people" the country never would have supported the war.

We've also spent over $770 billion on the war there. Talk about spending and deficits!
