'The View' Host Says Jesus Would Attend A Pride Parade, Homophobes Burst Into Flames

During Monday’s episode of The View, the gabfest was discussing the beginning of Pride Month when a recent tweet by Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, came up.

Bishop Tobin had taken it upon himself to remind Catholics not to attend Pride events this month because "they promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals."

Tobin added that Pride events “are especially harmful for children.”

The irony here is that this is the same bishop who acknowledged in 2018 that he “became aware of incidents of sexual abuse” in his diocese in the mid-1990s, but said reporting the allegations were not part of his “responsibilities," and so, he remained silent.

Back to The View, one of the show’s co-hosts, Sunny Hostin, shared that she is a practicing Catholic and she wouldbe attending a Pride event with her children because that’s “what Jesus would do.”

“I tweeted out that my Catholic children will be attending Pride events as this Catholic will,” she shared with her co-hosts. “And you know, my faith always taught me, ‘What would Jesus do?’ And I know Jesus would be attending that Pride parade, with pride.”

But wait - there’s more!

“And I also know that God is love, Jesus is love, love is love,” she added. “For a Catholic bishop to come out and say something like that given the history of pedophilia in the Catholic church, given what the Catholic church has hidden about the abuse of children, some would say that being at a Pride parade would be much safer for a child than it has been to be in a Catholic church for many years.”

Boom!

Cue Whoopi Goldberg dinging her bell six times.

Now, we love Ms. Hostin for the awesome support - and the epic breakdown of obvious hypocrisy by the church - but, the story doesn’t end there.

• Quartz reports “former agency officials,” said White House adviser Stephen Miller would leak the monthly number of immigrants apprehended at the border to the Washington Examiner, who would then publish a story about the high numbers.

He would then print out the story and give it to Donald Trump. After seeing the story, Trump would then “pick up the phone and blast (Homeland Secretary) Nielsen.

• FX has announced that the second season of Pose will premiere June 9 at 9pm. The network also confirmed that the second season will time jump to 1990 with vogueing about to the day Madonna released her music video for "Vogue," causing the ball culture to "reevaluate their goals."

'Queer Eye' Guys Share The Impact The Show Has Had On Conservative America

The men of Netflix’s Queer Eye joined the ladies of The View to chat on the impact the Emmy Award-winning show has had on the country, especially in rural America where the show has been filming some episodes.

Design guy Bobby Berk shared about a message he received privately on social media from a preacher who feels differently about gays having watched Berk share his story of growing up in the church and feeling unwanted there.

“My whole life I was taught in church that homosexuality is a sin, that they’re pedophiles, that they’re heathens, that they’re definitely going to hell and that they choose to be that way and in turn my church I have preached the exact same way.

And hearing you talk about how every single day of your life you cried and you begged and you pleaded and you prayed for God not to make you gay but you still are showed me that it isn’t a choice and that you were born that way and I’ll never preach that way in my church again.'”

“To hear that now little kids in that church aren’t going to grow up and be taught to hate who they are, that’s worth everything."

Joy Behar brought up the MAGA hat that culture guy, Karamo Brown, received from a Trump supporter.

“I threw the hat away,” admitted Karamo. “But ironically, that guy and I, we are best friends.”

“For five gay guys to go into rural America and feel as if we’re making a change, it feels really good,” he continued. “We can’t expect people to grow until we show them who we are.”

Newly-engaged Karamo also admits to be something of a 'Bride-zilla" having just rented a ferris wheel for the upcoming nuptials.

Tan France, who now lives in Salt Lake City with his husband, shared that he knew most of America had never seen 'this' - a gay Muslim - but the reaction he's received has been "the most beautifully warm welcome" he ever could have imagined.

An interesting exchange happened when Behar asked food expert Antoni Porowski his thoughts on the same-sex kiss that ended a number from Broadway’s The Prom on last week on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Porowski offered a tentative, “I think it’s a reminder that the rest of the country is not New York and we need to remember that.”

But grooming guy Jonathan Van Ness seems to be a bit fatigued with waiting for folks to feel the gay love.

“Why?” inquired Van Ness. “I’m so done making the people feel comfortable.”

"I've had to endure a lot of heterosexual kissing in my lifetime," Van Ness added.

Neil Patrick Harris Shares Which Celeb 'Promised' To Have Sex With Him Years Ago

Guess which celebrity promised Neil Patrick Harris they would have sex with him?

Neil Patrick Harris stopped by The View earlier this week to chat on his kids' upcoming birthdays, National Coming Out Day, and more.

The segment began with Harris sharing pics of his kids and hubby David celebrating Halloween for years with a family-theme when it comes to costume play.

The chat turned to his twins, Harper and Gideon, becoming more and more individual in what they want when it comes to their upcoming 8th birthdays like separate parties.

Smiling at the end of the table, host Whoopi Goldberg said, “I remember you at that age.”

At this point, Harris reminded folks that he made his feature film debut at the age of 15 with Goldberg in a film titled, Clara’s Heart.

According to Harris, Goldberg promised him during the shooting of the movie that she would have sex with him when he reached 25-years-old.

Awkward pause…

"I might've!" said Goldberg with a laugh.

“He had many questions as a kid,” explained the Oscar winner. “So I told him, ‘Wait 10 years - I’ll take you through it.’”

“See, in those days, you could actually have some fun like that,” said Goldberg in reference to the Time’s Up movement. “You can’t do that now.”

Taking the edge off of what could have been an awkward moment, Harris quipped,”Hey, I was not offended - I’m looking forward to it.”

When the subject moved to National Coming Out Day, Harris emphasized, “It’s such an individual thing.”

“I guess I applaud the fact that there’s a day people can use as a conversation starter, if they’re not sure how to broach the conversation,” the 45-year-old actor continued. “But, I wouldn’t want to put any undue pressure on someone for needing to choose a specific day to come out.”

A jack of all trades, Harris also proudly shared that the second installment in his Magic Misfits children’s book series is currently number one on the New York Times Best-Sellers List.

Whoopi Rips Smug Jeanine Pirro: "What I Suffer From Is The Inability To Figure Out How To Fix" Trump

So, I had more people reach out and ask if I'd seen this wild and wooly clash between Fox News personality Jeanine Pirro (who's so far up Donald Trump's backside to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions she can't breathe) and The View's Whoopi Goldberg.

And its everything people told me it would be.

Via USA Today:

"You suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome," Pirro said, pointing at Goldberg. The term, which stemmed from "Bush Derangement Syndrome," has been used by Trump supporters to suggest that those who do not support the president are unable to think clearly and logically about the state of the country.

"Let me tell you what I have," Goldberg began. "I'm tired of people starting a conversation with 'Mexicans are liars and rapists.' I'm 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn't agree with. But I have never, ever seen anything like this. I have never seen anybody whip up such hate. I have never seen anybody be so dismissive."

She continued: "Clearly, you don't watch the show, so you don't know that I don't suffer from that. What I suffer from is the inability to figure out how to fix this."

Goldberg then attempted to switch topics to the "deep state." Instead, a shouting match erupted as both women debated what is most horrible about the country today: Pirro claimed those entering the country illegally were killing U.S. citizens; Goldberg countered that the president's rhetoric was inciting violence toward minorities.

"Say goodbye. Bye. I'm done," Goldberg said, ripping up her cue cards.

Whoopi don't suffer fools lightly, kids.

The View: Stormy Daniels Reveals "Composite Sketch" Of Alleged Thug Who Threatened Her

In an appearance on ABC's The View today, Stormy Daniels and her lawyer Michael Avenatti revealed a “composite sketch” of the man who Daniels alleges threatened her if she didn't shut up about her alleged affair with Donald Trump a decade ago.

Avenatti also announced there is a $100,000 reward for information leading to the man’s identification. Folks with any information can send contact Avenatti at IDtheThug@gmail.com.

I want to say, regarding the clips below, Daniels handles herself with a lot of aplomb and confidence here.

Meghan McCain asks direct questions that easily could have elicited a more argumentative or defensive response from Daniels. But instead, she calmly let McCain make her statements and then answered with logic in a calm, reasonable demeanor.

Daniels did get a laugh when asked about Trump's denial that he knew anything about the $130,000 payment made to her: "I work in the adult business and I'm a better actor than he is."

The more I see of Daniels, the more and more I'm impressed.

Contrast her appearance on The View with Donald Trump's histrionic public pronouncements with 4th grade language skills, and you get the picture.

McCain On THE VIEW: "I've Faced Greater Challenges" Than Attacks By Donald Trump

Appearing on The View today, where his daughter Meghan is a new co-host, Sen. John McCain was asked if he was "afraid" of retaliation from Donald Trump after some of McCain's public statements about Trump.

McCain proceeded to laugh for a solid 15 seconds before shrugging, "I've mentioned that I've faced greater challenges."

McCain also took another veiled swipe at Trump's "bone spur" deferments from the Vietnam War, as well as Trump's attacks on Gold Star families and accusations that Barack Obama was not born an American.

Christian Rocker Trey Pearson Talks Coming Out On THE VIEW

A few days ago, I wrote about Christian rocker Trey Pearson of Everyday Sunday who recently made to decision to come out publicly.

Today, Pearson sat down with the ladies of The View to talk on his coming out journey, and the effect it's had on his life and family.

• “I grew up in a Christian home and church where I was taught that God hated homosexuality and I could choose to be straight. And I tried for a really long time. And I don’t think I was ever trying to lie to anyone. I was trying to convince myself that I could be something I wasn’t.”

• On his now ex-wife of seven and a half years when he came out to her:“By the time I was able to tell myself and tell her, she just hugged me and cried and told me how proud of me she was for being able to be honest with myself. She’s been my biggest supporter, my biggest advocate.”

• The moment he saw his dad after his story (and he) was finally out: “The day that my story came out, my dad was at work and he read it. And he showed up on my porch while I was curled up on the couch, not sure what people would think, who would be talking about it. And he just knocked on the door – I had no idea he was coming – and he just hugged me for ten minutes and told me how much he loved me.”

• On still being a Christian today: "I feel I'm more in love with Jesus and the scriptures than ever."

• On the near future: “I’m not dating. I decided to take at least a year to get to know myself as a gay person before starting to get to know who somebody else is in that sort of way," said Pearson.

Very well-spoken, Trey has a raw honesty in his voice that sounds very freeing for him.

Joy Behar To Return To THE VIEW

ABC has announced that Joy Behar is returning to THE VIEW next month.

“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in,” the comedian said in a statement. “Plus, [my husband] Steve was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion. But I’m happy to be back home. And I'm looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight.”

Behar, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris will join Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins as co-hosts of the morning show next month.

Behar, 72, left the show to pursue other opportunities in 2013.

Rosie O'Donnell To Leave THE VIEW - Again

Following a split with wife Michelle Rounds, Rosie O'Donnell has announced she will leave her co-hosting duties at The View.

“The View” has been in a state of turmoil since last May when founding anchor Barbara Walters signed off of the roundtable 11 a.m. talker and Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd also left the panel. O’Donnell was recruited back to the show, which she co-hosted in the 2006-07 with much turmoil behind the scenes, along with newcomers Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s moderator and only returning member of the panel this season, is said to have butted heads with O’Donnell behind the scenes, as well as on-air.

Sources close to the situation said O’Donnell had been struggling with the stress related to her divorce as well as the pressure on “The View” set. The show’s lineup opened strongly in the ratings in September but viewership quickly tailed off. There has been much discussion at ABC about making further changes or additions among the hosts. Sources close to the situation suggested that O’Donnell decided to jump, citing her personal reasons, before she had to face the prospect of getting pushed.

“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show,” ABC said in a statement. “When she told us she wanted to exit ‘The View,’ we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on ‘The Fosters,’ and we know she’ll return to ‘The View’ often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family.”

Rosie talks to Ramin Setoodeh about returning to the gabfest after her famous exit from The View in 2007.

The colorful and outspoken comedian will board the Hot Topics table for the show’s 18th season premiere Sept. 15. It’s a big gamble, which O’Donnell herself acknowledges — she signed only a one-year (albeit multimillion-dollar) contract so she can bail if the show devolves into another train wreck. If it works, she’ll be daytime’s new comeback kid at 52.

“I think it’s going to be must-see TV,” O’Donnell says over a plate of cookies at Sarabeth’s on a New York afternoon. “My goal is to come in peace. And the contrast between what the show will be and what it was is going to be glaring.”

Interestingly, the new panel of co-hosts met for the first time this week - only a week before going on the air.

Rosie O'Donnell in talks to return to The View

Last month came the news that ABC's The View released Sherri Shepard and Jenny McCarthy from the show. Now sources say Rosie O'Donnell could be coming back to the show with a deal that would be for a one-year/seven figures contract. AND Rosie wants to approve who her co-hosts would be.

From Page Six:

We hear terms of her deal would include her appearing full-time on the show alongside Whoopi Goldberg, and O’Donnell will also get “approval over offers to other co-hosts.”

But according to a source, Rosie wants a stipulation that no other reality stars can be slotted as co-hosts, (so Bethenny Frankel’s agent should stop pitching). The deal would bring O’Donnell back after a rocky exit in 2007 after just one season.

I stopped watching the show years ago. Elisabeth Hasselbeck made the show unwatchable, and since then it just became even worse, although I do like Whoopi.  Hasselbeck called into Fox & Friends from vacation to rant about O'Donnell's possible return to The View, saying that Rosie had spit in the face of the US military.  You can watch the clip here:

Curious to see how this pans out.

Rumors also are flying that Sarah Palin, former half-term governor of Alaska, would like to join the group. Not sure if she qualifies as a "reality" show star since I'm not sure she understands true reality, but we shall see...

Hillary Clinton surprises Barbara Walters on her final show

What a great way to start the surprises on THE VIEW today as Hillary Clinton joined the ladies to honor Barbara Walters on her last day as a regular co-host on the show.

Hillary is the only person to have made Barbara's "Most Fascinating" list four times, and twice she was listed as the #1 "most fascinating."

Barbara jokingly invited Hillary to replace her on THE VIEW, but then followed up with one more question - "are you running?"  Hillary did answer in the affirmative, saying she's "running around the park."

Another cute moment occurred when Hillary's impending grandchild came up.  Barbara asked "What do you want to be called?"  Sherri Shepard adds, "Nana?  President Clinton?"  Hillary was clearly avoiding all talk of presidential runs on this day.

Hillary also answered questions about her new book Hard Choices, which focuses primarily on her time as Secretary of State.

THE VIEW's Sherri Shepherd: Just because I think gays are going to hell doesn't make me homophobic

In a recent interview with Fusion host Alicia Menendez, The View's Sherri Shepherd said that she thinks she's very misunderstood about her stance on homosexuality and the fact that just because she thinks gays are going to hell doesn't make her homophobic:

"I think people don't know my heart," Shepherd told Menendez. "I think people feel I'm very judgmental. I think people feel I'm very homophobic. If they knew me, and knew my heart. ... You grow up being a Christian and you grow up believing homosexuality is a sin; you're going to hell if you're a homosexual. This is something that they teach in churches. So it's something that I grew up believing."

"I might not agree with your lifestyle, but I love you," Shepherd continued. "You may not agree with my lifestyle, but you love me ... I don't say it's a choice. If you tell me, 'Sherri, I was born gay.' OK. I'm not gonna argue with you, because I can't tell you how you feel and what's going on inside. I'm trying to make it into heaven by the skin of my teeth ... I don't know who I'm gonna see. So if you tell me you're born [gay], I'm not gonna argue with you. And I absolutely respect you for that. I just ask that people respect how I feel, [I] respect how you feel and we can have a great dialogue."

Other guests the same day are the fab Lynda Carter and Las Vegas headliner and vocal impersonator Veronic.

THE VIEW takes on Ken Cuccinelli and his war on oral sex

The ladies of the THE VIEW were outraged - and rightfully so - over GOP Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli's plan to bring back anti-sodomy laws to his state.

The "crimes against nature" law in Virginia would outlaw any oral or anal sex between two consenting adults, whether heterosexual or gay.

Barbra Walters notes that Cuccinelli seems to equate oral sex with homosexuality which cues Sherri Shepard to admit this makes her “gay as a two dollar bill.”

And Whoopi points out the irony that conservatives always want LESS government in their lives, and yet here's a self-proclaimed conservative wanting to regulate what happens in citizens bedrooms. Contradiction, contradiction, contradiction...

It's a fun exchange. Were Elizabeth Hasselbeck still on the panel, it's easy to picture her stiff and silent. Thank goodness that's over. Much more fun now :)
