Kellyanne Conway To Reporter: "What's Your Ethnicity?"

While taking questions from reporters on the White House driveway, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway flipped out a bit over questions regarding Donald Trump’s attacks on four congresswomen of color by asking a reporter about his ethnicity.
Kellyanne Conway

Ok, this was odd...

While taking questions from reporters on the White House driveway, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway flipped out a bit over questions regarding Donald Trump’s attacks on four congresswomen of color by asking a reporter about his ethnicity.

Andrew Feinberg, a White House reporter for Breakfast Media, asked Conway, “If the president was not telling these four congresswomen to return to their supposed countries of origin, to which countries was he referring?”

Conway responded asking, “What’s your ethnicity?”

“Why is that relevant?” replied Feinberg.

“Because I’m asking a question," said Conway. "My ancestors are from Ireland and Italy."

She then snapped, “A lot of us are sick and tired of this country – of America - coming last, to people who swore an oath of office.”

None of that relates to anything Feinberg was asking. Watch below.

Conway then took to Twitter to say her question was meant "with no disrespect."

Ethics Office: Kellyanne Conway Should Be Fired For Violating Hatch Act

Kellyanne Conway

The office that oversees ethics for the White House has recommended that White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway be removed from federal service after repeated violations of the Hatch Act, which "prohibits government employees from making political statements while acting in an official capacity," according to CBS News.

The Office of the Special Counsel — the ethics office for the White House, which is unrelated to former special counsel Robert Mueller — sent a report to the president Thursday finding that Conway had violated the act "on numerous occasions" by criticizing Democratic presidential candidates in TV interviews and on social media.

While the president and vice president are exempt from the Hatch Act, that privilege does not extend to federal employees.

"Ms. Conway's violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act's restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law," the OSC said in the letter to Mr. Trump, calling Conway a "repeat offender."

Conway has laughed at the violations in the past.

"If you're trying to silence me through the Hatch Act, it's not going to work," she told reporters in May. "Let me know when the jail sentence starts."

White House Adviser Kellyanne Conway: Comey "Swung" The 2016 Election

Then there was the time that Counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway, speaking to ABC News' George Stephanopolous, attacked former FBI Director James Comey by admitting, "This guy swung an election. He thought the wrong person would win."

She admits that Comey handed the presidency to Trump. Watch below.

White House: Trump Has "Full Confidence" In Chief Of Staff John Kelly

(screen capture)

Donald Trump trotted out White House adviser Kellyanne Conway to defend this week's debacle surrounding the resignation of White House staff secretary Rob Porter.

In the aftermath of Porter's departure, questions linger about Chief of Staff John Kelly's handling of the incident.

Conway made the round of the Sunday morning talk shows on ABC, CNN and Fox News.

Via The Washington Post:

Senior White House aides insisted Sunday that President Trump remains confident in Chief of Staff John F. Kelly amid staff turmoil and said the president is not looking to replace the retired four-star general hired six months ago with a mandate to corral chaos.

“I spoke with the president last night about this very issue, and he wanted me to reemphasize to everyone, including this morning, that he has full confidence in his current chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, and that he is not actively looking for replacements,” White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said in an interview on ABC's “This Week.”

She added that Trump also remains confident in communications director Hope Hicks, a long-serving aide under scrutiny for her role in the White House response to spousal abuse allegations against former staff secretary Rob Porter, with whom she had a romantic relationship.

Porter resigned or was fired Wednesday, a day after Kelly had defended him as “a man of honor” in a statement in which Hicks apparently had a hand.

Conway got rather defensive when asked whether Donald Trump's own accusers have had their "due process:"

Kellyanne Conway: "Nobody" In White House Is Talking About Hillary

During a news conference at the White House yesterday, Donald Trump was asked by Fox News' John Roberts as to whether he will agree to a sit down interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is currently investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

This was Trump's answer:
"Well, again John, there has been no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians or Trump and Russians. No collusion. When I watch you interviewing all the people leaving their committees, I mean, the Democrats are all running for office, trying to say this that -- but bottom line, they all say there's no collusion. And there is no collusion.

"And when you talk about interviews, Hillary Clinton had an interview, where she wasn't sworn in, she wasn't given the oath, they didn't take notes, they didn't record and it was done on the 4th of July weekend. That's perhaps ridiculous and a lot of people looked upon that as being a very serious breach and it really was.

"But again I'll speak to attorneys -- I can only say this, there was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it. Every committee -- I've been in office now for 11 months. For 11 months, they've had this phony cloud over this administration, over our government. And it has hurt our government. It does hurt our government. It's a Democrat hoax that was brought up as an excuse for losing an election that frankly the Democrats should have won because they have such a tremendous advantage in the electoral college.

"So it was brought up for that reason. But it has been determined that there is no collusion and by virtually everybody. So we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I mean certainly we'll see what happens -- when they have no collusion and nobody's found any collusion at any level it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview."

Now, aside from the 8 times that Trump made a point to say there was no collusion, what was odd in his response was dragging Hillary Clinton's name out of nowhere.

By the way, he says Hillary wasn't "sworn in" during her interview in July 2016 with the FBI as if that gave her some escape or "out" in terms of telling the truth. The fact of the matter is, whether you are under oath or not, it's legal jeopardy to lie to the FBI.

Anyway...

Later, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway strangely asserted to CNN's Chris Cuomo that "nobody" in the White House "talks about Hillary Clinton."

Wait. Wha... Umm.

MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Hosts: Kellyanne Conway Secretly Loathes President Trump

Remember when MSNBC Morning Joe hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough were BFFs with the Trumpster and company?

Not so much these days.

This morning the newly engaged duo informed their viewers that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway actually hated having to defend Donald Trump during the 2016 election.

Here's Brzezinski's take on how Conway's appearances would go once the cameras and microphones were off:

“This is a woman, by the way, who came on our show during the campaign and would shill for Trump in extensive fashion. And then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off, and she would say ‘Bleeech, I need to take a shower’ because she disliked her candidate so much.”

Kellyanne Conway: "You Always Want To Talk About Russia, Russia, Russia!"

Kellyanne Conway gets more air-time today with CNN's Chris Cuomo in a 19 minute segment wherein she turns in her own "Jan Brady" performance arguing that “you always want to talk about Russia, Russia, Russia!”

Knowing that Trump watches cable news voraciously, and he must love seeing someone defend him so strenuously.

Watch the performance art by Conway below.

Fox News On Kellyanne Conway: "We Don't Quote (Conway) Much Anymore Because, Well, History..."

At the top of his newscast today, Fox News’ Shep Smith had this to say about White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway:

”Kellyanne Conway, whom we really don’t quote much anymore because, well, history…”

That was in reference to Conway's claim yesterday that microwave ovens turn into cameras and that's "just a fact of modern life:"

Smith followed with:

"Counselor Kellyanne Conway, who's previous words have been, well, up for debate..."

"Microwaves do not turn into cameras. Fox News can now confirm microwaves heat food. Cameras take pictures. Microphones don't have cameras. And microphones can't turn into cameras. Fox News now confirms."

Watch below:

Kellyanne Conway: "I'm Not In The Job Of Having Evidence"

Asked by The Bergen Record on Sunday if she knew for a fact that Trump Tower phones had been wiretapped, White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said, “What I can say is that there are many ways to surveil each other now, unfortunately. There was an article this week that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets, any number of different ways. Microwaves that turn into cameras, etcetera.”

This morning, Conway made several more appearances and had to answer questions on the idea of "surveillance microwave ovens." Talking to CNN's Chris Cuomo, she attempted to obfuscate with, "I was answering a question about surveillance techniques generally."

Pressed further on the wiretapping allegation, Conway whipped up this whopper: "I'm not Inspector Gadget. I don't believe people are using the microwave to spy on the Trump campaign. However, I'm not in the job of having evidence."

Because "alternate facts."

As a reminder - both President Obama and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper have said there’s nothing to the allegations.

President Trump, in an astounding display of irony, chastised the media for being "rude" to Conway:

Kellyanne Conway Will Not Be Disciplined For Promoting Ivanka Trump Merchandise

Kellyanne Conway
According to a letter from the White House to the Office of Government Ethics, the White House has determined that Conway acted "inadvertently" and "without nefarious motive or intent" when she told the TV audience on Fox News to "Go buy Ivanka's stuff."

From ABC News:

In the Feb. 28 letter to OGE Director Walter Shaub, White House deputy counsel Stefan Passantino said he met with Conway about the incident and briefed her on federal employee ethics laws.

"We concluded that Ms. Conway acted inadvertently and is highly unlikely to do so again," he wrote. "Ms. Conway has acknowledged her understanding of the standards and has reiterated her commitment to abiding by them in the future."

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff," Conway said in a Fox News interview last month. "I'm going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody."

After the incident last month, the OGE sent a letter to the White House calling for an investigation and review of Conway's actions -- which Shaub described as a "clear violation of the prohibition against misuse of position" -- and recommended disciplinary action.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said the lack of disciplinary action is "a very bad sign."

"Other federal employees would likely be suspended for engaging in this conduct, and White House officials should not be held to a different standard," he said in a statement. "I hope that the president reconsiders his decision and that he and his staff will take their ethical obligations more seriously.”

I would point out that she was quite clear and cognizant of her language. She literally called it a "free commercial."

Government Ethics Office Recommends Disciplinary Actions Against Kellyanne Conway

It looks like White House counselor Kellyanne Conway will get more than just "counseled" in regard for her recent hawking of Ivanka Trump merchandise on national television.

From The Hill:

The director of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) says White House counselor Kellyanne Conway misused her official position by hawking Ivanka Trump’s product line on TV and recommends the White House punish her.

“Under the present circumstances, there is strong reason to believe that Ms. Conway has violated the Standards of Conduct Act and that disciplinary action is warranted,” Walter Schaub wrote in a Tuesday letter to White House legal counselor Stefan Passantino.

Schaub asked the White House to respond by Feb. 28 with the results of its investigation and any disciplinary action it may decide to take. “I recommend the White House investigate Ms. Conway’s actions and consider taking disciplinary action against her,” he wrote.

Here's Conway on Fox News last week promoting Ivanka Trump's wares:

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released the letter on Twitter. See below.

Catching Up With "Michael Flynn's Wild Ride"

In this episode of "As The Trump Turns:"

Last night, White House senior advisor Kellyanne Conway told MSNBC that (then) National Security Advisor Michael Flynn had "the complete confidence of the president."

Just hours later, Flynn resigned as the news emerged that the acting Attorney General Sally Yates (fired for telling the truth) informed the White House last month that Flynn had probably misled Trump and the administration, and had possibly opened himself up to blackmail by the Russian government.

So, President Trump knew of these reports last month, but last Friday when asked about the issue onboard Air Force One by reporters, Trump said he had not read or heard of such reports and he'd have to get back to the media over it.

So, which is it? Did Trump know about the moves by Flynn? Or did President Bannon not keep Trump in the loop?

If Trump knew about these revelations last month, how did Flynn have the "full confidence of the president?"

Or, more importantly, if this had not come to light, would Flynn STILL have the full confidence of the president?

If Trump knew all this, why did he allow Flynn complete access to American intel when he might be vulnerable to Russian blackmail?

It wasn't Flynn's lie to Vice-president Pence that brought Flynn down. It was the facts coming to light. The White House knew about these allegations for weeks. Nothing was done until the info got out to the public.

CNN is now reporting that Republican Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, on Tuesday has called for an investigation into connections between President Donald Trump and Russia, and wants the Intelligence Committee to speak with Michael Flynn.

Here's Kellyanne Conway this morning twisting in the wind with NBC's Matt Lauer:

And while Kellyanne was talking in circles at NBC, poor Rep. Chris Collins seemed to have drawn the short GOP straw, and had to spin his own circular nonsense over at CNN:

And just one final piece of irony: here's now-former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn last summer at the Republican National Convention where he led the crowd in chants of "Lock her up!" in regard to possible security leaks from Hillary Clinton's email server.

Sean Spicer: Kellyanne Conway "Has Been Counseled" About Shilling For Ivanka Trump

During today's White House press briefing, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer was asked about Kellyanne Conway's "free commercial" for Ivanka Trump's Nordstrom fashion line (which is being dropped) on FOX News.

According to Sparky Spicer, “She’s been counseled on that subject.” And then he quickly moved on.

Ethics experts weighed in all morning saying Conway clearly violated federal law which prohibits federal employees from “endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.”

Watch Spicer below:

Did White House Adviser Kellyanne Conway Violate Federal Laws?

Ethics experts are amazed at a promotional shout out from White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway today on FOX News.

Kellyanne Conway used an interview from the White House this morning to officially endorse the Ivanka Trump product line at Nordstrom department store, a clear violation of federal law.

A federal employee (that would be Ms. Conway) may not “use his public office for his own private gain [or] for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated..."

And this was clearly an endorsement. Conway said, “This is just wonderful line. I own some of it. I fully — I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online.”

UPDATE - Congressman Elijah Cummings has sent a formal request for potential disciplinary action regarding Conway's "free commercial." See below - click on image to enlarge.

Kellyanne Conway: "I Felt Badly About Bowling Green Massacre Mixup"

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, speaking to CNN's Jake Tapper today, says she "felt badly about the Bowling Green massacre mixup."

You'll recall last week, Conway told MSNBC host Chris Matthews, “I bet it’s brand-new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre,” she said. “Most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered.”

The comment went viral in light of the fact that there was no "Bowling Green massacre."

Kellyanne Conway Complains Media Never Covered 'Bowling Green Massacre' - Because It Didn't Happen

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, who spends 24/7 deriding the media because they won't give Trump positive strokes or "warm fuzzies," stepped in it last night when she referenced the "Bowling Green massacre," an event that never happened.

Reuters has the details:

On television late on Thursday, Conway spoke about two Iraqis who came to the United States and were radicalized, adding, erroneously, "and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre."

She then said: "Most people don't know that because it didn't get covered."

In fact, in May 2011, two Iraqi men were arrested in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and charged with attempting to send weapons and money to al Qaeda in Iraq. They admitted to using improvised explosive devices against U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

Mohanad Shareef Hammadi and Waad Ramadan Alwan pleaded guilty and were sentenced to life in prison and to 40 years in prison, respectively. Neither was charged with plotting attacks within the United States, prosecutors said.

Conway later tweeted that she meant to say "Bowling Green terrorists" instead of "massacre." And in another tweet, "Honest mistakes abound."

And with that, the Twitterverse had a field day:

Kellyanne Conway Gloats Over Immigrant Ban: "Get Used To It"

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway caused a stir on Twitter today as she crowed about the response to President Trump's executive order banning immigrants from 7 Muslim-majority nations.

"Get used to it. @POTUS is a man of action and impact. Promises made, promises kept. Shock to the system. And he's just getting started."

Backlash to the executive order has already begun as the Iranian foreign ministry that says Iran will resort to “counteraction” to Trump’s executive order.

“Iran, to defend the dignity of the great Iranian nation, will implement the principle of reciprocity until the removal of the insulting restriction against Iranian nationals," the statement reads. “It will apply corresponding legal, consular and political actions.”

Canadian Prime Minister welcomed refugees, including those now blocked from the US:

And then, there's the rest of the Twitterverse:
