Guns N Roses Axl Rose: Republicans Doing "Disservice" To The Country

Rocker Axl Rose has reached out to his 1.23 million Twitter followers asking them to vote Republicans out of power, who he says are "doing r nation a disservice."

I'd imagine the bulk of Guns N Roses fans are conservative/Republicans, so it's quite the move to take such a vocal stand.

Good on him.

Voter Enthusiasm Way Up For 2018 Midterm Elections

Three weeks before the 2018 midterm elections, voter enthusiasm is on the rise after hitting its lowest level in half a century in 2014.

A new poll by The Washington Post/ABC News shows 77% of registered voters say they are certain to vote in the midterms versus 65% in 2014.

From The Washington Post:

Enthusiasm is up across almost all demographic groups, but the increases are greater among younger adults, nonwhite voters and those who say they favor Democrats for the House.

Certainty to vote is up 32 points among women younger than 40, compared with 2014. Among men and women ages 18 to 29, it has risen 17 points.

Among nonwhite registered voters, 72 percent are now certain to vote, up from 48 percent in Post-ABC polling in October 2014.

White men without college degrees represent the one heavily Republican group whose certainty to vote is lower than average and has increased less than other groups since 2014. In contrast, white women with college degrees are up 15 points to 88 percent. For white women without degrees, the figure is up 12 points.

Among voters who prefer Democratic candidates for the House, 81 percent say they are certain to vote, up from 60 percent in 2014.

Among those who support Republican candidates for the House, enthusiasm now stands at 76 percent, compared with 73 percent in October 2014.

New York Times Gives Hillary Clinton 92% Chance Of Winning White House

The New York Times' Upshot gives Hillary Clinton a 92% chance of winning the White House.

Additionally, a Quinnipiac University poll of swing-states shows Clinton tied with Trump at 44% in Iowa, and trailing by just 1 point in Georgia at 43%.

To underscore those numbers - Hillary has never really dominated in Iowa and Trump was ahead there by 7 a month ago. And Georgia is such a ruby-red state you have to wonder what's up that Hillary is within one point of Trump there.

Amazing.

All that said, I need all you shiny, happy people to get out and vote for my girl, Hillary Clinton.

Stars Promise You Naked Mark Ruffalo Scene If You Vote

One of my mostest favorite actors, Mark Ruffalo, appears alongside fellow Avengers Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson (and a whole lot of stars) for a new voting campaign - "Save The Day."

Cause, that's what Avengers do - save the day.

In case anyone needed an extra incentive to vote in this fall’s presidential election, Avengers director Joss Whedon has enlisted a bevy of celebrities and the possibility of a Mark Ruffalo nude scene to urge people to vote.

In a video campaign for his PAC titled “Save the Day,” A-list celebrities such as Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore rub shoulders with small screen stars like Matt McGorry, Jesse Williams and Neil Patrick Harris to encourage Americans to vote this November.

Like Hollywood get-out-the-vote efforts of years past, the video mostly encourages voters to do their civic duty, but there’s a hint that at least some of the stars would also prefer if you cast your ballot against Republican nominee Donald Trump. Actor Don Cheadle doesn’t mention Trump but does refer (not for the first time) to “a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.”

The video also promises, tongue in cheek, that if voters do their part, actor Mark Ruffalo will do a full-frontal nude scene in his next film.

Wait, wait, wait - what's this "tongue in cheek" stuff, TIME? I want my full-frontal, naked Ruffalo.

Scarlett Johansson herself promises he'll be going "full monty."

First Lady launches voter initiative

First Lady Michelle Obama announces the launch of "It Takes One".

"It Takes One" is a new effort that asks you to inspire one more person to join you every time you take an action to move this country forward. If you're making phone calls or knocking on doors, take a friend along. If you're registering to vote, make sure that a family member is registered as well. If you're attending an event, bring one neighbor along. And if you're voting early on election day, bring one new voter with you. You could inspire five, or ten, or 100 new people before November.

As the First Lady shares:

"That one new voter you register in your precinct. That one neighbor you help get to the polls on November 6th. That could make all the difference. That one conversation you have. That one volunteer you recruit. That could be the difference between waking up on November 7th and feeling the promise of four more years or asking yourself, 'could I have done more?'"

NC: The numbers tell an interesting tale - Amendment One

There are folks on the anti-gay conservative side touting "61 percent of North Carolinians" voted for Amendment One.

But that's an inaccurate statement. Check this out:

Voter turnout was only 34% of registered voters (6,296,759 total voters participated). Sixty-six percent of registered voters did not participate.

The number of "yes" votes for the amendment only comes to 20.7% of all registered voters. This did account for 61% of those voting, but not 61% of all North Carolinians.

Repeat - only 20% of all registered voters in North Carolina were able to act as a "majority" yesterday in North Carolina.

The next time you think about voting, consider that fact.
