Whitney Houston Returns To Billboard Charts With 'Higher Love'

Whitney Houston and DJ Kygo land on the Billboard Hot 100

Pop icon Whitney Houston, who passed away in 2012, lands on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week with the newly-remixed version of “Higher Love” by Norwegian producer/DJ Kygo.

“Higher Love” is Houston’s first appearance on the chart since her 2009 single, “Million Dollar Bill,” from her final album, I Look to You.

The track was previously only available as a bonus cut on the Japan release of Houston's 1990 album, I'm Your Baby Tonight.

I wrote about the track when it dropped recently, and it's been on my playlist ever since.

I think it's a spectacular collaboration bringing one of the greatest voices pop music has ever known back to still-adoring fans.

Here's Houston singing "Higher Love" during her Feels So Right tour in Japan 1990.

Remix: Madonna "Vogue" Beauty Edition (Paul Andrews Mix)

Paul Andrews serves up the perfect Saturday afternoon chill remix of Madonna's mega-hit “Vogue."

From Andrews:
"Beauty's where you find it."

This song is truly a classic. I've always thought "Vogue" had the perfect combination of drive and elegance.

When I approached this mix, I didn't want to reinvent the song, just wanted to expand on the sophistication. This mix should sound familiar at first, but I hope it takes you to a new place.

Just add a cocktail, nice breeze and a little bounce of the head.

Remix Mondays: If You Could Read My Mind (Hex Hector Remix)

"If You Could Read My Mind," the Gordon Lightfoot hit from 1970, was his first big release in the U.S. hitting #5 of the Billboard Charts.

The song was covered by Barbra Streisand on her 1971 album, Stoney End, over which I developed a huge repeat cycle with for several weeks back in 2005.

In 1980, Viola Wills peaked at number two for five weeks on the dance/disco charts with a dance version of the song.

This version comes from the house music collective Stars on 54, which recorded the track for the 1998 film, 54, reaching number three on the dance charts.
