Updated Marriage Equality Map - July 7, 2015

As Kansas finally embraces the truth about the law of the land (who imagined Kansas would be last?) regarding same-sex marriage in the United States, the folks at Wikipedia who oversee the landscape of marriage equality have just posted the updated, new, most gorgeous all-blue map of the country.

From Freedom To Marry - Marriage Equality Map

I realized I've been posting the "progress of marriage equality" maps from Wikipedia showing the beautiful blue states where gay and lesbian couples enjoy the freedom to marry.

But then I thought "what if folks really like red???"

So, for all the red lovers, here's the current state of same-sex marriage in the US in rich, vibrant red from the folks at Freedom To Marry.

See?  I do like both sides :)

Animated map shows the growth of marriage equality over past 10 years

News site Vox shares this handy-dandy animated GIF of the progress of marriage equality through the years to now.

Using data from the Census Bureau, the GIF shows the growth state by state AND by population percentages of Americans who can now enjoy the freedom to marry.

New, updated map of marriage equality in the USA

The Washington Post has published an interactive map that shows the current state of marriage equality in the US.

Note the lone North Dakota as the only state with neither same-sex marriage or a challenge to the state's ban.  That should change soon as Joshua Newville, the lawyer who filed the challenge in South Dakota, has stated a ND suit will be forthcoming in the near future.

Since 1996, when both Gallup and Pew polls reported those who approved of marriage equality was a mere 27%, support has grown to solid majority support at 55% at Gallup and 54% in Pew polls.

The state of marriage equality is changing every day in America, so it's pretty hard to keep up.

Here's an updated map via Andrew Turnbull.  I'm sure it will change again sooner than any of us anticipate.
