Breaking: Dr. Evil Fired From Trump Administration

One of my favorite creative processes that happen during political unrest is when comedy writers revisit and repurpose iconic characters of the past for present day hilarity.

And so it was last night when Mike Myers' "Dr. Evil" made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show for an interview with Jimmy Fallon as the latest Trumper to be fired.

Even Fallon was taken aback by the discovery Evil had been in the White House.

Fallon: “I’ve got to say, I had no idea that you were part of the Trump administration. What exactly did you do there?”

Evil: “Well naturally, I was going to be secretary of evil. But Steve Bannon got that job,” Said Dr. Evil, bringing his pinky to his mouth for punctuation.

Evil admitted he was more of an "ideas man" taking credit for the border wall. "It was all me. But I wanted it to be a moat with spiky blowfish."

According to Evil, his relationships in the White House were hit and miss.

"I got along swimmingly with Ben Carson. We were both evil doctors who didn't know why we were there."

Regarding Don Jr.: "That guy's creepy AF. He looks like he's missing a facial feature, you just don't know which one."

Great stuff. And great to see the evil Dr. Evil again :)

Jimmy Fallon Has "Regrets" About Donald Trump Interview

With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert often surpassing The Tonight Show in the late night ratings race, host Jimmy Fallon tells The New York Times his softball interview of Donald Trump during the 2016 election was a "setback."

In the aftermath of the interview, many folks felt the segment helped to "humanize" Trump.

The resurgent interest in left-leaning programming hasn’t helped Mr. Fallon, a former star of “Saturday Night Live” who has built his brand on his all-around entertainer’s skills and down-the-middle tastes.

And as Mr. Fallon is well aware, viewers haven’t seen him in quite the same light since an interview he conducted with Mr. Trump in September, which was widely criticized for its fawning, forgiving tone. In a gesture that has come to haunt the host, he concluded the segment by playfully running his fingers through Mr. Trump’s hair.

Mr. Fallon acknowledges now that the Trump interview was a setback, if not quite a mistake, and he has absorbed at least a portion of the anger that was directed at him by critics and online detractors.

“They have a right to be mad,” a chastened Mr. Fallon said in an interview this month. “If I let anyone down, it hurt my feelings that they didn’t like it. I got it.”

Mr. Fallon’s questions, however, were mostly innocuous; he asked Mr. Trump why children should want to grow up to be president and if his business background had helped him in the campaign. Their conversation concluded with Mr. Fallon fulfilling his longstanding wish of ruffling Mr. Trump’s hair.

“I didn’t do it to humanize him,” Mr. Fallon said, explaining this moment to me. “I almost did it to minimize him. I didn’t think that would be a compliment: ‘He did the thing that we all wanted to do.’”

But when the backlash did not subside, even after a few days, Mr. Fallon never addressed the controversy on air. “I didn’t talk about it, and I should have talked about it,” he said. “I regret that.”

Super Deluxe Remix Of Fawning Donald Trump/Jimmy Fallon Interview

The folks at Super Deluxe bring you their remix/re-edit of the now infamous Jimmy Fallon "softball" interview of Republican prez hopeful, Donald Trump, that ended in Fallon playfully humanizing Trump by mussing his hair.

Fallon has been taken to task for his fawning over the Trumpster throughout his last appearance on The Tonight Show. Super Deluxe takes the time to underscore Fallon's adoration and flattering adulation.

Contrast this with Fallon greeting Hillary Clinton wearing a face-mask upon her subsequent visit.

Ted Cruz Takes A Call From "Donald Trump" During Tonight Show Appearance

Sen. Ted Cruz, making an appearance on The Tonight Show last night, played along for a "phone call" from faux "Trumpster" played by Jimmy Fallon.

During the call, "The Donald" inquires how Cruz won all of Colorado's delegates without voting, and then offers Cruz advice on how to visit New York in advance of the GOP primary there next week.

I'm not sure comedy is Cruz's strong suit, but I give him props for trying.

The cast of the new STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS joins Jimmy Fallon & The Roots for an a cappella medley of STAR WARS themes.

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong'o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford for an a cappella tribute to "Star Wars."

They even get Harrison Ford to drop in for a bit. How about that?

And isn't Carrie Fisher fab in everything she does lately?

Adele Jams "Hello" With Jimmy Fallon & The Roots On Schoolroom Instruments

As if her record-breaking sales and live appearances haven't been enough, Adele sits down with Jimmy Fallon & the Roots for an acoustic/schoolroom instruments version of her now mega-hit "Hello."

No wondering here - she kills it.

Note the "cameo" appearance of a bust of Lionel Richie upstage of the band. Clever, Jimmy Fallon. Clever.

Hillary Clinton Interviewed By Jimmy Fallon's "Fake Donald Trump"

Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton made her first late night talk show appearance on The Tonight Show last night, and showed good form doing a "pre-show interview" with Jimmy Fallon's "Fake Donald Trump.

From NBC News:

Hillary Clinton stopped by NBC's "Tonight Show" on Wednesday where she was interviewed by Jimmy Fallon twice — once as Donald Trump, and once as himself.

In what has become a trademark, Fallon donned the Donald's signature hairdo and "called" Clinton at home to discuss women, immigration and Bernie Sanders.

Fake Trump opened with, "I haven't seen you since my last wedding." Clinton fired back, "Well, I'm sure I'll see you at the next one."

When Clinton asked "Trump" what his stance is on women's issues, Fallon quipped, "I know a lot of women and they all have issues."

Hillary added a light-hearted touch during her 'actual' segment with Fallon when asked what she thought of Donald Trump's campaign: "I'm having a good time watching it."

Lip Sync-Off With Ellen DeGeneres And Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon faces off with Ellen DeGeneres in a fierce lip sync-off to songs like Silentó's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" and Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money."

I especially liked Ellen's surprise choice of Diana Ross' "Do You Know Where You're Going To?"

Over 7 million views in three days.

Donald Trump Interviews "Donald Trump" On The Tonight Show

Current front runner for the GOP nomination for president, Donald Trump, does his own late night comedy bit with Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show, in an attempt to show his humorous side.

In the clip, Fallon (as "Trump") interviews himself in the mirror (Trump) to somewhat comedic effect. Trump is definitely Trump here, but the jokes run out of steam after a while.

Still, good on Trump for being game enough to do the bit.

"Me interviewing me? THAT's what I call a GREAT idea."

Tom Cruise Proves "Mission Possible" In Lip Sync Battle With Jimmy Fallon

Tom Cruise gives serious face in epic lip sync battle with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show

Tom Cruise stopped by The Tonight Show to promote the new MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie opening this weekend, and gave a committed performance in a Lip Sync Battle with Jimmy Fallon.

At one point, Tom threatens to pull out an Ace card, but it ends up just a tease.

I forget, with all the silly tabloid stories staring us in the face at the grocery store, how appealing and infectious Tom Cruise really is.

And may I say - still has fabulous hair. #RockThatHair

Kristen Wiig Is "Daenerys Targaryen - Queen Of Dragons"

Jimmy Fallon gets a surprise visit from "Daenerys Targaryen," and they talk about her crazy life.

In full costume and with a tiny dragon named Carl on her shoulder, Kristen Wiig answered questions about her life as the "Mother of Dragons" for host Jimmy Fallon as they both giggled their way through the interview.

She told Fallon that her real name is Karen and that she lives in a dome in a forest on a mountain.

The "Khaleesi" gave him the scoop on her favorite food and hobbies, and let it slip that she's a big fan of Kristen Wiig—saying that her film that opens Friday, "Welcome of Me," sounds like it has "a great premise."

Wiig has a habit of appearing on Fallon as seemingly random people who are definitely not Kristen Wiig. Last year, she masqueraded as Harry Styles of One Direction on Tonight Show. And in 2013, she appeared as Michael Jordan when Fallon was host of Late Night.

In each case, he got her to sing an improvised song... and he did so again on Wednesday night.

Kristen Wiig just slays me....

Madonna Makes Her Debut As Stand Up Comedian On The Tonight Show

After lamenting that her world tour extravaganzas are a lot of work to do and cost mucho to create, Madonna admitted to being a "closet comedian."

So, Jimmy Fallon enticed her to make her debut as a stand up comedian.

She's not unfunny. Most of her routine revolved around jokes about her younger boyfriends.

Jimmy Fallon Had No Idea He Went On A Date With Nicole Kidman

Recalling how they met 10 years ago, Jimmy Fallon tells how a mutual friend called to say he was bringing Nicole Kidman by his NYC apartment. Fallon provided the brie and video games thinking it was a meeting for a possible movie role in "Bewitched."

Turns out, via Kidman, that the "meeting" was a kind of "hang/first date." Fallon loses his mind in realizing that he went on a date with Nicole Kidman and didn't know it.

Kidman: “After about an hour-and-a-half I thought, ‘He has no interest, this is so embarrassing.’ And then I left and went, ‘Okay, no chemistry.’ And then I was like, ‘Maybe he’s gay?’”

Check out below. One of the better clips from The Tonight Show lately.

Barbra Streisand sings with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show

Barbra Streisand joins Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show

Barbara Streisand appeared on The Tonight Show for the first time in over 50 years last night. A fact that seemed particularly scary for Jimmy Fallon as he explained to Babs that he really expected her to whirl into the studios as a difficult diva. Babs didn't seem to understand why.

I would guess there was a pre-arranged agreement that Babs would sit in the host's chair as she is known to favor her left side.

She did sing a medley from her new album Partners using Fallon as a stand-in for Elvis, Blake Shelton and Michael Buble, putting a spin on the rather historic appearance.

Babs last appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson - 50 years ago

Zac Efron & Seth Rogen join Jimmy Fallon for some "Ew!" drag

Zac Efron in drag on The Tonight Show

Seth Rogen and Zac Efron showed up in drag for an appearance with Jimmy Fallon's "Sara" on Ew! last night.

The skit is so-so, but you have to give props to Zac going for full-on "valley girl." And Seth does make me laugh with his beard and bear-ish self in drag.

Seth Rogen and Zac Efron take drag selfies

Zac Efron posted this backstage pic to his Instagram account
