Roseanne Barr took to her YouTube channel to share some odd musings on the use of the word 'fag,' and how she herself put the 'Q' in LGBTQ.

The comedienne began in a pensive mood, complaining about the use of the 'F' word.

“Man, the word ‘fag’ is a really hateful word, isn’t it?," begins the comedian while apparently sitting in her car. "Especially when it’s when it’s like one gay calling another gay guy that? Hoo! Have you ever been in the middle of one of them hate marriages? Hoo! It’s like, wait a minute, we’re not supposed to say that word. How come you’resaying that word? What?"

She then complains that while some members of the LGBTQ community use the word, she as a straight woman is not allowed to use the slur.

“Oh, Ijust can’t say that word," she says. "Well, I can when I’m in the house, but I can’t say it outside the house. Okay, I get your rules."

"But it is a hateful word and we should get rid of it," she decides, but then clarifies, "Get rid of it being spoken."

Ok, so folks should stop saying the word but they can write it? No. Paint it on a wall? No.

The 66-year-old then appears to take partial ownership of the slur by declaring she, herself, is 'queer.'

“All that LGBTQ stuff, let me just be real, I put the Q in the LGBTQ," announces the dethroned sitcom queen. "Okay, because I am queer as two motherf**kers."

Now, we're off in the underbrush on the way to Poughkeepsie, but we gotta see where this goes, right?

"I’m queer, I’m alien, I don’t belong here with all these people," she adds although it appears she's alone, but, you know. "They makes no sense. Theyare very queer."

"That makes me queer, I guess," she declares in summation as she starts her car. "But I did put the Q in it. Bye!”

And, exit stage right.

'The Connors' Premieres (Sans Roseanne) To Strong Ratings

Last night saw the highly-anticipated premiere of the Roseanne spin-off, The Connors, on ABC.

Roseanne Barr’s rebooted sitcom was cancelled earlier this year after the comedian tweeted racist messages about former Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Barr eventually agreed to step away from the show and characters she helped create so dozens of jobs associated with the sitcom could be saved.

And so, we have The Connors.

As previously reported, Roseanne’s character was killed off in the debut episode via an opioid overdose. Longtime fans of Roseanne have seen the show tackle several controversial issues, like the current opioid epidemic, over the years.

The issue was treated with the seriousness and gravity that it deserves.

The episode opened three weeks after the passing of Roseanne’s character and the family members are still pretty much in shock. Especially husband, Dan, played by John Goodman.

When the cause of death is revealed, Dan remains in denial saying he knew he’d flushed Roseanne’s prescription pain killers.

But a pill bottle belonging to a neighbor (played by Mary Steenburgen) is soon found in a coat pocket. It seems the uninsured neighbors traded prescriptions occasionally to help each other out.

Dan initially blames and shames her for giving the pills to Roseanne, but soon even more hidden stashes of pills are found.

"She was going to do what she was going to do," admits Dan in a line that easily could have been directly about Roseanne Barr herself. "She never listened to a damn person in her life."

This being network sitcom-land, the family comes to a landing of sorts by the end of the half-hour, but not before the always dependable Laurie Metcalf delivers the “moment” of episode. Her affecting, layered, measured performance is definitely worth the watching.

For her part, Barr, who earlier had told the world she would move to Israel rather than stay in the U.S. for the premiere, tweeted in classic Roseanne fashion, “I AIN’T DEAD, BITCHES!!!!”

Later in the evening, in a lengthy statement issued through her longtime friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on Facebook, Barr called the decision to kill off her character with opioids in "The Conners" debut episode "grim and morbid."

“While we wish the very best for the cast and production crew of The Conners, all of whom are deeply dedicated to their craft and were Roseanne’s cherished colleagues, we regret that ABC chose to cancel Roseanne by killing off the Roseanne Conner character," the statement read in part. "That it was done through an opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show."

According to CNN, the premiere of The Connors drew about 10.5 million viewers, which is on par with the last four episodes of Roseanne last season.

Writing for Vanity Fair, television critic Sonia Saraiya praised the evolution of the show and its characters.

The Conners felt richer, after one episode, than the revived Roseanne season did after nine. Barr’s personality took up a lot of space on the Roseanne set. Without her, the cast and the characters have a chance to breathe. And the result is an unlikely, appealing family sitcom with a motley crew of characters all held together by the same loss.

Roseanne Doesn't Want To "Go Dark" On Upcoming 'The Connors'

During a conversation with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach for the conservative “Promised Land” podcast, Roseanne Barr revealed she’s planning to leave the United States for Israel before the premiere of the ABC spinoff sitcom, The Connors.

Shmuley didn’t shy away from the upcoming premiere set for October 16 on ABC.

The New York Daily News reports the Rabbi asked point-blank if she planned to watch the “revised version” of her now departed sitcom.

“I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there,” Barr told Shmuley, a longtime friend. “And that’s where I'm going to go and probably move somewhere there and study with my favorite teachers.”

“You know, I have saved a few pennies and I'm so lucky that I can go,” she added. “It's my great, great joy and privilege to be a Jewish woman.”

The comedy star also shared that staying in the U.S. for the premiere and seeing the media’s response could “tempt” her to make a controversial comment about the spinoff, especially if she “has too many drinks.”



Barr did offer this comment regarding The Connors: “I’m not going to curse it or bless it. I’m staying neutral. That’s what I do. I’m staying away from it. (I’m not) wishing bad on anyone, and I don’t wish good for my enemies, you know. I don’t. I can’t. I just stay neutral.”

Barr also admitted to “some mental health issues of depression and stuff,” during the chat. Alluding to personal demons, she explained, “I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark, and I don’t want to go dark again.”

The reboot of Barr’s hit sitcom, Roseanne, was summarily cancelled after one season in the aftermath of racist tweets by the 65-year-old comedienne about former White House advisor Valerie Jarrett. In the tweets, which Roseanne later blamed on “Ambien-tweeting,” she compared Jarrett to an ape.

She denied any racist overtones claiming, “I thought the b—h was white.”

Barr also made disparaging comments about former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton and Democratic supporter, George Soros.

ABC decided to revamp the reboot one more time, this time without Barr. In order for the project to move forward, however, Barr was required to sign away any rights to future royalties of the new show.

In an interview last week, actor John Goodman shared that Barr's character will be killed off in the new spinoff.

First Tease Of 'Roseanne' Reboot Reboot - 'The Connors'

Fans of the now-defunct sitcom Roseanne get their first tease of the reboot of the rebooted series, The Connors.

The official synopsis reads:

“After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family — Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. — grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns — with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”

Television patriarch John Goodman spilled the beans this week in an interview with The Times that Roseanne's character will definitely be killed off, saying, "I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.”

Goodman also commented on Roseanne's now-infamous tweet that got her kicked to the curb by ABC that compared former White House advisor, Valerie Jarrett, to an ape.

"I know, I know for a fact she's not racist," Goodman told The Times.

In any case, after Roseanne was forced to sign away any future royalties for the upcoming The Connors, the new reboot is set to premiere October 16 at 8pm on ABC.

In an odd, unsettling clip, Roseanne Barr is shown to be distressed and agitated.

The comedienne references her since-deleted tweet in which she likened Jarrett, a black former advisor to Barack Obama, to an “ape.”

“I’m trying to talk about Iran! I’m trying to talk about Valerie Jarrett about the Iran deal. That’s what my tweet was about,” Barr shrieks.

“I thought the bitch was white!” she said with more intensity. “Goddamnit, I thought the bitch was white. Fuck!”

Earlier this month, Barr had announced she would sit for a TV interview to explain her side of the story behind the unraveling of her hit sitcom after making racist tweets about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.

'Roseanne' Out - 'The Connors' In

ABC officially announced its canceled series Roseanne will continue on this fall as The Conners with a 10-episode straight-to-series order set to premiere this fall on Tuesdays at 8PM, the series' former timeslot.

“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter and love,” said the statement from ABC. “The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

The press release also included, “Roseanne Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series.”

You may recall Roseanne was canceled in May after Barr posted a racist tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.

Shortly after ABC's announcement this evening, Barr issued her own statement:

“I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved.”

The Conners cast, including Sara Gilbert (as Darlene), John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and Michael Fishman (DJ), soon followed up with a joint statement:

“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience.

"We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”

While the network hasn’t addressed how Roseanne will depart the show, it appear as though her character is being killed off.

'Roseanne' Without Roseanne Barr Moving Forward In Talks

A possible second life for ABC's hit sitcom Roseanne is looking more and more likely according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Roseanne Barr has agreed in principle to walk away from the characters she helped create in order to allow Roseanne’s cast and crew to pursue a spinoff in the wake of the show’s May cancellation due to her racist tweets.

ABC and producer Carsey-Werner are insisting that Barr not participate financially or creatively in the proposed spinoff, which is said to revolve around the character played by Sara Gilbert. Other Roseanne writer-producers and castmembers, including John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, are said to be tentatively on board (they would receive the same fees as previously negotiated for the second season of the Roseanne revival, which was ABC’s top-rated program this season).

But since Barr would be entitled to substantial fees and backend on any spinoff of Roseanne (the original series was created by Matt Williams, but it is also credited as being "based upon a character created by Barr”), she must waive those rights before any such show could proceed.

According to THR Roseanne is tentatively negotiating a one-time "go-away-money" payout.

Behind the scenes Barr is said to be contrite over how her racist tweet about former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett torpedoed the newly-rebooted show which became the #1 sitcom on ABC this past season.

Gilbert, Goodman and Metcalf would receive their contractual $300,000 per episode salaries.

Although cut out of future royalties for new episodes, Roseanne would still receive royalties for the first ten episodes of the show.

ABC Considering Revamp Of Cancelled Reboot Of ROSEANNE

According to several sources, ABC is considering a revamp of it's now cancelled reboot of Roseanne.

In the aftermath of cancelling the sitcom after Roseanne's racists tweets last week about Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, the network is said to be looking at reshuffling the show to shift the focus to the character of "Darlene" played by out actress Sara Gilbert.

Gilbert, who has been acting as an executive producer for the reboot, has apparently been reaching out to the show’s cast members about interest in continuing with a revamped show.

TMZ reports that John Goodman is “very interested.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is scheduling a confab later this week to explore other options for the show.

One caveat: Any new format would “have to be without Roseanne Barr, and the actress and former head writer of the sitcom would not be able to financially benefit from any new incarnation of the series.”

In that Roseanne was a creator of the original show, I'm not sure how you could utilize the same characters without compensating Roseanne.

Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons On Roseanne Scandal - "How Did You Type That?"

In a candid interview, CNN's Van Jones asks The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons if Roseanne Barr went too far with her tweets.

Addressing the recent scandals with Roseanne Barr, who saw her #1 series on ABC get cancelled over racist tweets, and Samantha Bee, who got in hot water calling Ivanka Trump the “c-word” on the air, CNN’s Van Jones asked Parsons if it’s difficult to be funny without consequences in the age of Donald Trump.

“It crosses my mind every single time I sit down for an interview or speak in public, anything,…It’s hard to speak your mind," said the 45-year-old actor from Texas.

“We’re easily offended right now, frequently about things that are probably not that important.”

Jones asked how Parsons processed the recent Roseanne debacle to which Parsons says, “I only thought about it on an emotional scale, which as ‘how’ and ‘why?’ That was my reaction to it.”

“Reading the tweet, I thought, ‘How did you type that?’”

Parsons did pivot to the current political thought regarding Donald Trump’s infamous “grab’em by the pussy” remark: “It’s ok to say certain things as an elected official right now that it’s not necessarily ok to say as an entertainer. And I find that fascinating.”

The actor also lamented the unemployment effect of Roseanne’s hideous tweets on her fellow actors and crew of her sitcom. Riffing on the current whisper campaign in Hollywood about possible spin-off series for Sara Gilbert or Laurie Metcalfe, Jones inquired if Metcalfe should be given her own show.

Parson emphatically responded, “Laurie should always be given her own show.”

Jones shifted to the issue of red-state citizens feeling locked out of the Hollywood industry to which Parsons (a native Texan) shared, “I have so many conservative traits about me. I’m such a family-first type of guy.”

And speaking of traditional values and family-first, Jones brought up Parsons wedding in 2017, “As recently as 2012, people like Barack Obama was a bit hesitant to say publicly he was for marriage equality. Five years later, 2017, you’re married and it’s no big deal. Nobody cares at all.”

“In fact, the big deal, which really took me by surprise considering how traditional I am, was how meaningful the day was,” said Parsons.

“We did it because it was meaningful, but to actually go through the wedding; to be there in front of all of your loved ones, your family. It really gave such meaning to doing this so people could bear witness to it. It meant so much more to me than I was prepared for. Especially having grown up where it wasn’t a possibility.”

One of the busiest men in show business, Parsons not only has his long-running Big Bang Theory sitcom on CBS but he opened on Broadway this week in the iconic, groundbreaking gay-themed play, The Boys in the Band.

And, his new movie, A Kid Like Jake, landed in theaters on Friday wherein Parsons plays the father of a four-year-old who enjoys “gender-expansive play” dressing up in whatever gender clothes feels best at the time.

Roseanne Barr Blames Racist Twitter Rant On Ambien

Roseanne Barr took to Twitter today (I thought she quit Twitter...???) to explain that her online meltdown yesterday that resulted in her #1 sitcom on ABC being cancelled was really due to the sleep medication Ambien.

“It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien-tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible,” she wrote. “I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but… don’t defend it please. ty.”

The tweet, like many others on her account, has since been deleted.

ABC Cancels Roseanne Barr's Sitcom After Ugly, Racist Twitter Rant

Roseanne Barr lost her mind today tweeting a vicious, racist rant that eventually led to her renewed sitcom being canceled by ABC.

ABC has pulled the plug on the revival “Roseanne.”

The move comes after series star Roseanne Barr made a comment on Twitter Tuesday morning referring to former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as looking like the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” Jarrett, an African-American, was born in Iran to American parents.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.

Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger voiced his support for the cancellation, tweeting “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”

Barr deleted her tweet about Jarrett not long after posting it. She followed it up with an apology which read, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter.”

Out lesbian Wanda Sykes resigned her position as a consulting producer before ABC could cancel the show:

I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC.

Op-Ed: "The 'Roseanne' Reboot Is Funny; I'm Not Going To Keep Watching"

Excellent op-ed by Roxane Gay for The New York Times about the reboot of ABC's "Roseanne."

It well worth the read as the Ms. Gay reconciles separating art from the artist.

As I watched the first two episodes of the “Roseanne” reboot, I thought again about accountability. I laughed, yes, and enjoyed seeing the Conner family back on my screen. My first reaction was that the show was excellent. But I could not set aside what I know of Roseanne Barr and how toxic and dangerous her current public persona is.

I could not overlook how the Conner family came together to support Mark as he was bullied at school for his gender presentation, after voting for a president who actively works against the transgender community. They voted for a president who doesn’t think the black life of their granddaughter matters. They act as if love can protect the most vulnerable members of their family from the repercussions of their political choices. It cannot.

This fictional family, and the show’s very real creator, are further normalizing Trump and his warped, harmful political ideologies. There are times when we can consume problematic pop culture, but this is not one of those times. I saw the first two episodes of the “Roseanne” reboot, but that’s all I am going to watch. It’s a small line to draw, but it’s a start.

ROSEANNE Reboot Gets Official Premiere Date

Fans of the 1990s sitcom Roseanne have reason to rejoice as the reboot of the series has an official premiere date!

March 27 will be the day Roseanne Barr and her original castmates (John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Johnny Galecki, Michael Fishman, Lecy Goranson, and Sarah Chalke) will return along with that famous couch.

An official synopsis of the upcoming season reads:

“Will explore life, death and everything in between through the relatable, hilarious and brutally honest lens of the Conner household. With the inimitable Roseanne at its epicenter, fresh stories that tackle today’s issues and even more laughs from a brilliant cast and crew that haven’t missed a beat, audiences old and new will celebrate the homecoming of America’s favorite working-class family.”

Additionally, Estelle Parson and Sandra Bernhard, who both portrayed lesbian characters during the series' original run, will be returning as well.

There's more LGBT interest in the return as it has been previously announced that "Darlene," played by out gay actress Sarah Gilbert, will have a “gender-creative” child named Mark.

The announcement came via Twitter with a short graphic which read, "Same couch, same cast, same laugh."

Sara Gilbert "Comes Out" To Former TV Dad John Goodman In Classic ROSEANNE Roles

How an image can take you back 20 years in the span of a second.

Two decades after the 90s hit sitcom, Roseanne, signed off, two of the shows stars teamed up for a sweet one minute reunion this week.

John Goodman stopped by The Talk this week to promote his new movie, Kong: Skull Island. And clearly the temptation was too great to not take a trip in the "way back machine" with former TV daughter Sara Gilbert, now a host on the afternoon gabfest.

The scene opens with "Dan Conner" (Goodman) on the couch with daughter "Darlene" (Gilbert) watching a football game.

Gilbert: “So, uh, there’s something I’ve been wanting to talk to you about for a while now. I don’t know how to say this—I’m a talk show host.”

Goodman: “Well, as long as you’re happy, you know, me and your mom will support you. You know, for a minute there I thought you were going to tell me you were gay.”

Gilbert: “Let’s save something for halftime." (sly smile)

And the crowd goes wild.

Of course, the fun here is that Gilbert came out publicly in 2010.
