Newt Gingrich Flip Flops On Russian Investigation Special Counsel

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich went all "flip/flop" on the special counsel appointed to look into the Russian interference in the 2016 election this past Sunday.

Gingrich told Chris Wallace of Fox News that since former FBI Director James Comey admitted that he shared his personal memos with the world regarding conversations with President Trump in hopes that a special counsel would be appointed, the special counsel should be dismissed.

Gingrich also says that the special counsel, Robert Mueller, is one of James Comey's best friends, and that also is grounds for dismissal.

Except - James Comey didn't pick the special counsel, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller to the position. And, at the time, Gingrich was all thumbs up.

Let's take a trip on the way-back machine less than one month ago:

When That Extramarital Affair Pays Off

Newt and Callista Gingrich

CNN is reporting that Callista Gingrich, wife of former Speaker of the House Newt and serial adulterer Newt Gingrich, is the front runner to become the next ambassador to the Vatican.

According to White House officials, the decision to nominate Gingrich has been made, the only issue left to decide is when to make the official announcement. The only snag at the moment appears to be pending approval from the Office of Government Ethics.

The White House hopes to formally nominate Gingrich as soon as this week.

Gingrich has shared in interviews that she considers herself a devout Catholic, saying she has "always been a very spiritual person."

You may recall that the "very spiritual" Callista Gingrich testified in 1999 during divorce proceedings that she had been having a six year affair with Newt Gingrich while he was married to his second wife, Marianne.

Megyn Kelly Slaps Back At Newt Gingrich

In a raucous back and forth between Fox News' Megyn Kelly and serial adulterer Newt Gingrich last night, Gingrich demanded that Kelly call Bill Clinton a "sexual predator" and informed her she was "fascinated with sex."

From NPR:

"You are fascinated with sex, and you don't care about public policy," Gingrich said.

Kelly replied, "Me, really?"

Gingrich: "That's what I get out of watching you tonight."

Kelly: "You know what, Mr. Speaker? I'm not fascinated by sex, but I am fascinated by the protection of women and understanding what we're getting in the oval office ... "

Gingrich then brought up former President Bill Clinton, saying he will be "back in the East Wing [of the White House], because, after all, you are worried about sexual predators," an apparent reference to Clinton's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, which led to impeachment charges against Clinton while Gingrich was speaker.

Gingrich challenged Kelly. "I just want to hear you use the words 'Bill Clinton, sexual predator.' I dare you. Say 'Bill Clinton, sexual predator.' "

Kelly responded that her program had covered allegations against the former president, before adding that "he's not on the ticket."

Kelly then noted that the program was running out of time. "We're going to have to leave it at that, and you can take your anger issues and spend some time working on them, Mr. Speaker. Thanks for being here."

Newt Gingrich Says Muslims Should Be Tested And Deported

In the wake of yesterday's deadly massacre in Nice, France, Newt Gingrich told Fox News' Sean Hannity that he believes “every person who is of a Muslim background” should be tested to see whether they “believe in sharia,” and if so, those Muslims should be deported.

Gingrich went on to say that anyone who visits a website that favors ISIS, for whatever reason, should be convicted of a felony. So, if you click over to a website just to see what kind of crazy they are serving, you go to jail.

This is some seriously whack stuff, kids.

Watch below:

It's notable that Donald Trump's newly-minted running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, has openly opposed demonizing Muslims in America.

Donald Trump Veepstakes - Pence Or Gingrich?

Word is we should have the news of who the great Cheeto, Donald Trump, will choose to be his running mate by Friday.

Yesterday, folks seemed pretty sure Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has a lock on the nod.

But given the news that Fox News has suspended Newt Gingrich as a political contributor for the time being given his veep consideration AND he is apparently in Indiana today (and Fox News host Sean Hannity flew Gingrich out there), you have to wonder if that points to the Newtster.

Thoughts?

Newt Gingrich: 'Fox & Friends' Invented The Donald Trump Candidacy

Appearing on "Fox & Friends" this morning, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was surprisingly candid with the hosts, saying that their show essentially "invented" Donald Trump's presidential candidacy.

Via Talking Points Memo:

When host Brian Kilmeade asked Gingrich how Trump could be "running away with this thing," the former Georgia congressman turned the blame back on the network.

"Look, that's because of you guys," Gingrich said. "Donald Trump gets up in the morning, tweets to the entire planet at no cost, picks up the phone, calls you, has a great conversation for about eight minutes, which would have cost him a ton in commercial money, and meanwhile his opponents are all out there trying to raise the money to run an ad. Nobody believes the ad."

Kilmeade said Trump has made himself available to networks, unlike Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. Host Steve Doocy added that Trump has "invented scenarios" to get "free media."

Gingrich didn't relent.

"Look, you could say that Trump is the candidate 'Fox & Friends' invented. He was on your show I think more than any other show," he said. "It was always a happy, positive conversation."

Newt Gingrich: Gays should be more open and understanding of anti-gay

In a CNN Crossfire discussion about ex-NFL player Derrick Ward’s Twitter meltdown over the Michael Sam kiss, Newt Gingrich said that LGBT folks should be more "open and understanding" and tolerant of those who object to their existence.

Said Gingrich:

“You guys talk about how you want to be inclusive, except of course if somebody tweets this, then [there are] death threat or let's send them off to sensitivity training. I mean it strikes me as repression, that’s not inclusive. Shouldn’t you also be teaching people who are gay to be open and understanding [of anti-gay views]?”

Of course, the answer is "no." You don't teach African-Americans to be more tolerant of a racist.

Newt Gingrich lies about gay adoption

Serial adulterer Newt Gingrich tried to pass off the usual lie about gay adoption's "effect" on the Catholic Church on Meet The Press yesterday:

“But what I’m struck with is the one-sidedness of the desire for rights,” he added. “There are no rights for Catholics to have adoption services in Massachusetts. They’re outlawed. There are no rights in DC for Catholics to have adoption service. They’re outlawed.” “This passing reference to religion, we sort of respect religion — sure, as long as you don’t practice it,” Gingrich continued, saying we should go beyond the question of “Are you able to be gay in America?” and ask what it means. Whether that means, for example, eliminating “any institution which does not automatically accept that, and therefore, you’re now going to have a secular state, say, to a wide range of religious groups.”

Also on the panel was Joy-Ann Reid, who rightfully corrected Gingrich noting that Catholic Charities voluntarily withdrew their services rather than comply with anti-discrimination laws. Gay rights have not "eliminated" any religious group. If a group doesn't wish to follow the law, then they are making their own choice.

Newt Gingrich says the GOP should "deal with reality" when it comes to same-sex marriage

Earlier this week, in a stunning reversal, Newt Gingrich (of the "thrice -marriaged" Newt Gingrich) publicly stated that the GOP should get with it in terms of marriage equality saying it's a "reality."
From the Huffington Post: On gay marriage, meanwhile, Gingrich argued that Republicans could no longer close their eyes to the course of public opinion. While he continued to profess a belief that marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman, he suggested that the party (and he himself) could accept a distinction between a “marriage in a church from a legal document issued by the state” — the latter being acceptable.

“I think that this will be much more difficult than immigration for conservatism to come to grips with,” he said, noting that the debate’s dynamics had changed after state referenda began resulting in the legalization of same-sex marriage. “It is in every family. It is in every community. The momentum is clearly now in the direction in finding some way to … accommodate and deal with reality. And the reality is going to be that in a number of American states — and it will be more after 2014 — gay relationships will be legal, period.”
Gingrich, a convert to Roman Catholicism, said he recognizes the distinction between religious and civil marriage. He and his church consider the former to be limited to male-female couples, but he has no problem with the state giving legal recognition to same-sex pairs, he said.

NC: Newt Gingrich, with three marriages to date, supports the "sanctity" of marriage

Newt Gingrich, a serial adulterer who has three marriages under his belt, has made a video urging North Carolina voters to pass 'Amendment One', which would ban same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships in the state, in a new video.

As two new ads noted yesterday, it would also harm children by taking away health insurance, and it would jeopardize the safety of domestic violence victims.

Vote NO on Amendment One in North Carolina.

GOP presidential nomination race stats

Interesting snapshot of where the race is at this moment: states won, delegates won, money raised, odds of winning...

Click on the pic to see larger. Really interesting, especially the money raised by Romney versus the other guys. Based on that alone he should be cruising.

Conservative news sources: Obama not to blame for rising gas prices

Recently, Newt Gingrich laid blame for rising gas prices at the feet of President Obama saying “The price of gasoline when Barack Obama became president was $1.89. All of this gigantic increase came from his policies.”

But the conservative Wall Street Journal countered by saying:

“U.S. gasoline prices, like prices throughout the advanced economies, are determined by global market forces. It is hard to see how Mr. Obama’s policies can be blamed.”

"Mr. Gingrich ignores the basic fact about U.S. gas prices: They are largely fixed by the price of crude oil, which is determined by global supply and demand."

"When Mr. Obama was inaugurated, demand was weak due to the recession. But now it’s stronger, and thus the price is higher."

"What’s more, producing a lot of oil doesn’t lower the price of gasoline in your country. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Germans over the past three years have paid an average of $2.64 a gallon (excluding taxes), while Americans paid $2.69, even though the U.S. produced 5.4 million barrels of oil per day while Germany produced just 28,000."

In addition, the Koch Brothers funded Cato Institute had this to say:

“Is President Obama responsible for spiraling price of gasoline? Republicans say yes, but the facts say no. Despite the popular perception of President Obama as anti-oil, domestic oil production is increasing for the first time since the Johnson administration…. Unfortunately, presidents get blamed for world market changes that occur during their time in office … but generally, they do not cause them."

Mitt Romney camp: Nomination is an "impossibility" for Santorum and Gingrich

The morning after a mixed Super Tuesday victory, Romney campaign strategists made a bold new case: He's inevitable.

"The nomination is an impossibility for Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich," said one aide, adding that "they would have to ben the laws of reality" to pull off a win at this stage.

Strategists noted that for Santorum to clinch the nomination, he would need to win 65 percent of the remaining delegates—so far, he's won only 22.

For Gingrich, the path to the nomination is even steeper: he'd have to win 70 percent of remaining delegates, while he's only won 14 percent so far.

"It's going to take some kind of act of God to get where they need to get to the nomination," the aide said.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, needs to win only 48 percent of the remaining delegates—and he's won 52 percent to date.

Fox News's own business analyst pops the balloon on Newt Gingrich's energy plan

Fox Business News analyst Liz Claman drops by Fox News to get to the truth about Newt Gingrich's "energy plan."

Taking it point by point, she makes clear it really wouldn't work, and it really wouldn't give the US "$2.50 a gallon gas."

Says Claman: "Even the Transcanada people say [Keystone XL pipeline] would only shave 3 Or 4 pennies off the price" of gas.

This is what I've been saying here on The Randy Report: the oil market is a global market. For the most part, there's only so much that can be done here in the US to affect the price of oil in the world. And gas prices are rising right now NOT because of President Obama not taking steps to do so - it's happening because the world market is focused on the situation in Iran right now.

The Fox News hosts clearly aren't thrilled with the news.

Gets a bit chilly on the curvy couch. Watch.

Swing States poll: Romney and Obama tied; Gingrich trails

A new USA TODAY/Gallup Swing States survey shows Mitt Romney and President Obama at a statistical tie (48%-47%). However, Newt Gingrich fares much worse against President Obama.

In a head-to-head race, Romney leads Obama by a statistically insignificant percentage point, 48%-47%, the survey finds.

But Obama leads Gingrich, 54%-40%. The president's standing against him has risen nine points since early December; Gingrich has fallen by eight.

Gingrich fares less well than Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who trails Obama by seven points, 50%-43%, and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum, who also trails by seven points, 51%-44%.

Super dramatic anti-Romney ad

From the pro-Newt Gingrich PAC.

Wow. Talk about dramatic.

Jon Stewart on Newt Gingrich's proposed moon base

So one of Newt Gingrich's "big" ideas to address big problems in America is to build a moon base station by the end of his "hoped-for" second term as president.

Everything else going on in this country - and on the planet - and that's what Newt is proposing?

SRSLY?

As always, Jon Stewart is hysterical.
