James Holmes, the suspect in the Aurora movie theater shooting that left 12 dead and 58 injured, mailed planned details of his rampage to a University of Colorado psychiatrist before the July 20 attack, Fox News reports.
But according to a law enforcement source, the unopened package sat in a mailroom for as long as a week before it was discovered on Monday, July 23.
Police and FBI agents were called to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus on Monday after the psychiatrist (who is also a professor at the school) reported receiving a package believed to be from Holmes.
Upon opening it, a notebook documenting the chilling details of Holmes's planned attack was discovered, according to the Fox report.
"There were drawings of what he was going to do in it – drawings and illustrations of the massacre," the source told Fox News.
The source added that the package had been in the mailroom since July 12, but it is unclear why it had not been delivered to the psychiatrist earlier.
It is unknown whether the psychiatrist had any prior contact with Holmes.

Christian Bale visits Aurora shooting victims in hospital
Christian Bale is meeting with victims of Friday's mass shooting at an Aurora hospital Tuesday afternoon.
The pic above shows Christian Bale meeting with shooting victim Carey Rottman at Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado.
Bale plays Batman in the new movie 'The Dark Knight Rises,' the film that was playing when a gunman killed 12 people and wounded almost 60 at an Aurora movie theater Friday.
When he got word of the shooting, Bale said his heart went out to the victims.
In a statement released Saturday, Bale says, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Despite the injury, Rottman seems to be in good humor writing, "I am definitely feeling nothing but love and am ready to get started on this recovery! By the way, first 30 minutes of the dark knight were SICK!!"
Rottman has also posted photos of himself with Gov. John Hickenlooper and several members of the Denver Broncos.
Sunday, Rottman wrote, "Just got off the phone with my boy Payton Manning. What a great great guy. Thank you for the warm wishes Payton, I'll be rooting for you baller!!!"

Former AZ state senator claims Colorado victims lacked courage to stop gunman
In a Facebook post that has since been deleted, former GOP Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce criticized the people in the theater for a lack of courage and for not being armed, saying that if they had been, they could have saved lives. “All that was needed is one Courages/Brave [sic] man prepared mentally or otherwise to stop this it could have been done,” he posted:
Pearce is best known for having authored Arizona’s anti-immigrant SB1070. He was exposed just last week for writing hateful, racist emails about Latinos in his state.

Aurora, CO - Accused shooter arraigned in court
From the indifference to the proceedings around him, plus his seeming disorientation, many legal analysts expect an insanity defense.
James Holmes will be formally charged for the shooting next Monday, July 30th. The Colorado prosecutor says it's likely to take a year to get to trial.

Aurora, CO - The Candi & Randy Show
Listen to internet radio with CandiXRandy on Blog Talk Radio
This weekend our great nation suffered an enormous tragedy.
At a midnight show of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, CO, a young man, James Holmes, opened fire on the unsuspecting moviegoers.
James started by releasing a tear gas cannister into the audience. The smoked produced from the cannister momentarily lead the audience to believe it was part of the show's hype. Then the gunshots began, ending with a dozen or more dead and upwards of 50 people wounded.
On The Candi & Randy Show we discuss the event and the aftermath of this national tragedy.
