Warren Surges Past Sanders In Latest Fox News Poll

The results of the latest Fox News poll shows Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has surged to the number two spot behind former Vice President Joe Biden.

The new poll shows Biden still leads the pack of Democratic hopefuls with the support of 31 percent of Democratic primary voters.

Warren comes in at 20 percent, and Sanders at 10 percent.

California Sen. Kamala Harris garnered 8 percent.

All of the other candidates received 3 percent or less.

Warren’s gains come at Sanders’ expense, as she’s now the favorite among primary voters under age 45 as well as those who identify as “very” liberal. Since last month, Warren is up 12 points among the under 45 crowd, while Sanders lost 10. And her support increased 18 points among very liberal voters, as backing for Sanders dropped 16.

Biden leads Warren among both men (+11 points) and women (+11), and has a 22-point advantage among voters over age 45. Plus, among non-whites, Biden is up by 17 points over Sanders and by 19 over Warren.

By a wide 60-36 percent margin, Democratic primary voters prefer a nominee who will “restore the country and get American politics back to normalcy” over one who will “fundamentally change” how Washington works.

Overall, the survey indicates Biden would beat Trump by the widest margin if the election were held today, 50% - 38%.

Sanders would win by 9 points over Trump, while Warren would take the race by 7 points.

And the election is 14 months away...

Hickenlooper Drops Out Of White House Race, Considering Run For U.S. Senate

The New York Times reports former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper announced on Thursday that he is ending his presidential campaign.

A moderate political voice in the Democratic party, his policies and approach never took off in a field of candidates vying to be the "most progressive."

Mr. Hickenlooper has been seriously considering a run for the Republican-held Senate seat in Colorado that is up for election in 2020 — a key pickup target in the Democrats’ strategy to try to retake control of the Senate.

“Today, I’m ending my campaign for president,” he said in a videotaped statement. “But I will never stop believing that America can only move forward when we work together.”

“I’ve heard from so many Coloradans who want me to run for the United States Senate,” he added. “They remind me how much is at stake for our country. And our state. I intend to give that some serious thought.”

Truth be told, I think he would be a formidable senatorial candidate for Colorado. And, with Democrats needing to pick up four Senate seats, he would be far more useful running for Republican Sen. Cory Gardner, who is up for reelection in 2020.

I think the same can be said for former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke. The 'magic' from the 2018 election cycle has failed to materialize for him in his presidential run.

But support for O'Rourke in his home state is strong. And GOP incumbent John Cornyn would face a tough challenge with O'Rourke as his opponent.

Poll: Warren Takes 11 Point Lead In Iowa

The latest Iowa Starting Line-Change Research poll shows Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has opened up an 11 point lead in the Iowa Caucus.

Warren scored 28% support from likely Iowa Caucus-goers in the poll.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) were tied for second with 17 percent each.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg came in fourth at 13 percent and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has the backing of 8 percent.

Both Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) garnered 3% of caucus-goers’ support.

The remaining candidates received 2 percent or less.

That's quite a change from the last Starting Line-Change Research poll from May when Warren was in the middle of the pack in 4th place.

SurveyUSA Poll: Both Biden & Sanders Would Beat Trump By 8 Points

The results of a new poll of head-to-head matchups between Donald Trump and possible Democratic opponents by SurveyUSA shows two front-runners would beat Trump by 8 points.

The poll of 5,459 registered voters nationwide showed:

• Former Vice President Biden 50%, President Trump 42%

• Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders 50%, Trump 42%

• Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren 46%, Trump 44% --- too close to call

•  California Senator Kamala Harris 45%, Trump 44% --- too close to call

• Trump 44%, South Bend IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg 42% --- too close to call

The polling company says that the survey "approximates the outcome of the USA popular vote but not necessarily the outcome of the Electoral College."

SurveyUSA also notes that Trump doesn't break 44% against any Democratic opponent.

Former Vice President Joe Biden forcefully denounced Donald Trump's ducking of any responsibility regarding the spate of mass shootings in the U.S.

Biden Leads By Double-Digits In New National Poll

New polling shows former Vice President Joe Biden continues to hold a significant lead over other Democratic presidential contenders.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has a 2-to-1 lead nationally over the next closest Democratic presidential contender after the second round of debates, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll.

The new survey finds Biden with 34 percent support among Democrats, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at 17 percent.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is in third place with 9 percent support, followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) at 8 percent, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 4 percent, former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke at 3 percent and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) at 2 percent.

“Biden has been steady despite some rocky performances at the debates,” said Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll. “The Democratic voters are far more in sync with Biden’s views than any of the other candidates running. He maintains his front-runner status.”

The poll also showed 46 percent of Democrats view Biden as best choice to beat Trump, followed by Sanders at 34 percent.

Klobuchar Becomes 8th Democratic Candidate To Qualify For Next Debates

NBC News reports eight of the current Democratic presidential contenders have qualified for the next round of debates coming up in September.

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is the latest to meet the increased donor threshold her campaign said early Friday morning. She had previously reached the higher polling qualification of polling at least 2 percent in four major surveys.

Pundits predict the current field of Democrats could be cut in half by debate time rolls around.

In addition to Klobuchar, the other seven candidates to qualify are:

• California Sen. Kamala Harris
• Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke

According to NBC News, it may have been what Klobuchar didn't do in this week's debate that stood out and that was to avoid attacking her opponents by name or take part in the 'bloodsport' that some resorted to.

New Poll: Biden Holds 19 Point Lead Among Democratic White House Hopefuls

New polling by Quinnipiac University shows former Vice President Joe Biden still holds a commanding 19-point lead among Democratic presidential contenders.

Biden garnered 34 percent support from respondents with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) a distant second at 15 percent.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) comes in third with 12 percent, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) moved down to 4th position with 11 percent, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg is in single digits with 6 percent.

The polling also showed Biden gets a thumbs-up from 53 percent of black Democrats, with 8 percent for Sanders, 7 percent for Harris and 4 percent for Warren.

CNN Draws Lineups For 2nd Democratic Debates As Biden Continues To Lead

A new NBC News|SurveyMonkey online poll shows former Vice President Joe Biden still leading the pack of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, although the numbers are beginning to tighten.

Biden garnered 25% support in the survey taken after the first Democratic debate.

Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) tied at second with 16% support each.

California Sen. Kamala Harris barely behind them with 14% and Mayor Pete Buttigieg rounds out the Top 5 with 8% support.

These seem to be coalescing into the top tier candidates.

Morning Consult Poll Shows Biden Still Leads In Dem Primary Race

On a daily basis, Morning Consult is surveying over 5,000 registered voters across the United States on the 2020 presidential election.

Every Monday, MC shares the latest survey data, offering an in-depth guide to how the race for the Democratic nomination is shaping up.

The below are the results from Democratic primary voters nationwide.

The latest results are based on 16,504 survey interviews conducted between July 8-14, 2019.

As you can see, former Vice President Joe Biden continues to lead the pack with 32 percent support, with Sen. Bernie Sanders in second place at 19 percent.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) place third and fourth with 14 percent and 13 percent respectively.

And Mayor Pete Buttigieg rounds out the Top 5 at 5 percent.

The latest New Hampshire primary poll conducted by Saint Anselm College shows Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) moving into second place while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) drops to fifth place.

Rep. Eric Swalwell Ends 2020 Presidential Campaign

Rep. Eric Swalwell has announced he will end his three-month campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

In an email to supporters, Swalwell writes, in part:

I ran for President to win and make a difference in our great country — a difference on issues of the future such as finding cures for our deadliest and most debilitating diseases, taking on the student loan debt crisis, and ending gun violence.

I promised my family, constituents, and supporters that I would always be honest about our chances.

After the first Democratic presidential debate, our polling and fundraising numbers weren’t what we had hoped for, and I no longer see a path forward to the nomination. My presidential campaign ends today, but this also is the start of a new passage for the issues on which our campaign ran.

New Poll Shows Only Biden With Decisive Margin Beating Trump

Even though most Americans don't approve of Donald Trump's performance in most areas (except the economy) and see him as 'unpresidential,' new polling by a Washington Post/ABC News shows Trump does have a path to a second term thanks to a healthy economy.

The recent survey found Trump at his highest approval rating in the poll since he took office at 44 percent, with 53 percent disapproving.

The economy is the one topic where Trump edges out positive territory approval with 51 percent approving of his handling of the economy, with 42 percent disapproving.

According to the Washington Post, when asked how much credit Trump deserves for the state of the economy, 47 percent say a “great deal” or a “good amount,” while 48 percent say he deserves “only some” or “hardly any.”

A lopsided 65 percent feel Trump is "unpresidential" while only 28 percent say he is "fitting and proper."

The recent poll asked respondents about head-to-head matchups between Trump and five possible Democratic nominees: former Vice President Joe Biden, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Biden had the only decisive margin with the former Vice President beating Trump 53 percent to 43 percent, respectively.

Sen. Harris edged Trump by 2 points, 48 percent to Trump's 46 percent.

Sen. Sanders barely beat Trump by one point, 49 percent/48 percent, Warren tied Trump at 48 percent, and Buttigieg tied the Trumpster at 47 percent.

There is still a big gender divide among voters with men favoring Trump over four of the Democrats (it's pretty much a tie between Trump and Biden), and women choosing all five Dems over the president.

I know some folks don't see how Trump could be re-elected - this is how.

Oscar-Winning Producer Working On Pete Buttigieg Documentary

A film production company is currently shooting a documentary that will chronicle the presidential campaign of openly gay Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana.

The production company, Story Syndicate, was founded by veteran filmmakers Dan Cogan (Oscar winner for Icarus) and Liz Garbus (Oscar-nominated for What Happened, Miss Simone?).

According to Axios, the independently funded film will document Mayor Pete’s “rise to national attention.”

Film crews have been seen filming at Buttigieg campaign events as well as at last week’s first Democratic presidential debates in Miami.

Buttigieg isn’t the first millennial politician to get the indie film treatment, though.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the focus of the campaign trail doc Knock Down the House, and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke was the subject of HBO’s Running with Beto.

Documentaries have been useful tools for younger politicians to be a part of creating their own narrative. The Ocasio-Cortez and O’Rourke projects helped establish the candidates with younger voters as the films landed at platforms that appeal to those demographics.

The Buttigieg project hasn’t been picked up by a distributor or streaming service as of yet, according to Axios, as the film’s future is “contingent on the outcome of Buttigieg’s campaign.”

That said, it’s easy to imagine the narrative taking several directions.

As the first openly gay presidential candidate to be a serious contender, that story alone could warrant documenting.

If he were to clinch the nomination, he’d be the youngest Democratic presidential nominee in history.

Or, there’s been much talk of him being considered as a running mate for other Democratic candidates. Lots of chatter about a Kamala Harris/Pete Buttigieg ticket going on...
All of these could make for a compelling documentary.

But, there’s a long road ahead in this election cycle, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

New Polls Show Post-Debate Shakeup Among Democrats

New polling shows how the first Democratic presidential debates affected the early race.

The latest from Quinnipiac University polling shows former Vice President Joe Biden getting his lowest numbers to date dropping to 22 percent.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) jumped up to second place with 20 percent support.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren follows at 14 percent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is at 13 percent, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg gets 4 percent. No other candidate garnered more than 3 percent.

The June 11 Quinnipiac University Poll showed Biden at 30 percent, Sanders at 19 percent, Warren with 15 percent, Buttigieg at 8 percent, and Harris with 7 percent.

And in Iowa, Elizabeth Warren has vaulted to the number one position in the new David Binder Research poll.

Poll: Harris & Warren Surge After 1st Democratic Debates

The results of a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS shows Democratic presidential contenders Sens. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have each surged nearly ten points since the first debates last week.

Harris saw the biggest increase from 8 percent support to 17 percent, and Warren jumped 8 points from 7 percent to 15 percent.

Former Vice President Joe Biden dropped a precipitous ten points from 32 percent support to 22 percent.

And Mayor Pete Buttigieg, despite getting strong response for his debate performance, dropped one percent.

Buttigieg Campaign Announces Huge $24 Million In 2nd Quarter Donations

The New York Times reports Mayor Pete Buttigieg received $24.8 million in campaign donations over the past three months.

According to the Times, that figure is triple Mayor Pete's 1st quarter reporting, and will be one of the largest disclosed by the current Democratic presidential contenders.

Mr. Buttigieg’s haul, from more than 294,000 donors, is the clearest indicator yet of how a candidate who only months ago was little known among voters has become a formidable contender in the race for the Democratic nomination.

His strong fund-raising gives him the financial resources to build a robust campaign operation and compete with rivals who entered the race as far better-known figures, such as former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who is also expected to report a big fund-raising total for the quarter.

Mr. Buttigieg had more than 230,000 new donors in the quarter, bringing his total number of donors during his presidential bid to more than 400,000, his campaign said. The average contribution over the course of his campaign has been $47.42, according to his team.

Campaign press secretary Chris Meagher told CNN that Mayor Pete heads into the 3rd quarter of 2019 with $22.6 million in cash.

All of the candidates are required to report their fund-raising numbers to the Federal Election Commission by July 15.

His average donation is $47.
