I've had the very exquisite experience of working with Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams, and she's simply a dream.
AND - she has a huge sense of humor when it comes to this incident where she forgot the words to "June Is Busting Out All Over" from Carousel during a national TV special.
She explained to me once what happened here with the made up words to a song that she admits she "knew," but didn't really "know" the full lyrics:
Apparently, the night before the televised concert it rained and rained and rained. And the grass was way wet. As Leslie made her way down the aisle out in the audience, the crew guy holding cue cards with the lyrics fell and went splat. But it's live TV and the camera kept moving down the aisle, so she went with it.
She's very funny telling the story. Click here to watch her laugh about it with Seth Rudetsky.
Watch below. Still a classic.
Happy June 1st! This video of @LeslieUggams forgetting words & singing brilliant gibberish is almost as legendary as summer vacation itself! pic.twitter.com/GJdFN3OULE— Scott Nevins (@ScottNevins) June 1, 2017
