Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has closed up shop after a dismal showing in the first three contests to be the 2016 Republican candidate for president.
A distant 4th place showing in South Carolina yesterday - getting only 8% of the vote - sealed Jeb's fate.
Prior to South Carolina, there were poor showings in New Hampshire (4th place with 11%) and Iowa (6th place with only 2.8%).
Many pundits say it was just the wrong year for such an established political name. I personally felt no one wanted another Bush in the White House again after the sad state his brother left the country in back in 2008 losing over 700,000 jobs a month.
The Twitterverse was quick to respond:
Jeb Bush finally found a way to be the #1 trending topic on twitter, by dropping out of the GOP race.... pic.twitter.com/GP8LmNpEmP— The Silent Majority (@StrokerAce90) February 21, 2016
¡Jeb! has left the race. Please clap. 👏👏👏— Marc Love (@marcslove) February 21, 2016
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world Jeb was the smart brother.— Matthew Yglesias (@mattyglesias) February 21, 2016
