Iowa: Happy 4th Anniversary of Marriage Equality!

Four years ago today the Iowa State Supreme Court ruled in Varnum v. Brian that same-sex couples should have the freedom to marry across the state of Iowa.

In an unanimous decision the court concluded - rightly - that excluding gay and lesbian couples from marriage violates the equal protection clause of the Iowa Constitution.

Over those four years, approximately 6,000 couples have tied the knot in Iowa, according to estimates from One Iowa, the statewide LGBT organization that helped move marriage forward.

I can't quite see from here, but from what I hear the sky has not fallen in those four years :)
