Louisiana Teen Will Be Allowed To Wear Tux To Her Prom

If this wasn't the silliest thing to get upset about.

Last week, Claudetteia, 17, was told by Carroll High School Principal Taylor that she would not be allowed to attend her prom in Monroe, Louisiana, if she wore a tuxedo.

Seriously, who cares if a teenage girl wants to wear a tux. Didn't Diane Keaton win an Oscar in 1977 for Annie Hall wearing men's suits? And didn't that start a huge fashion trend?

Geraldine Jackson, Claudetteia’s mother, met with Principal Taylor to discuss this further and was reportedly told that “girls wear dresses and boys wear tuxes, and that’s the way it is.”

Principal Taylor also reportedly claimed that approximately half of the faculty scheduled to work at the prom would refuse to chaperone if Claudetteia were permitted to wear a tuxedo.

Claudetteia and several of her friends originally planned on attending the prom together, but, because of the school’s refusal to allow Claudetteia to wear a tuxedo, have opted not go to the prom unless the school changes its discriminatory policy.

The negative response against Principal Taylor’s decision was swift. Two members of the Monroe County Board of Education, which oversees Carroll High School, vowed to ensure that Claudetteia would be allowed to wear a tuxedo to her prom.

Yesterday,  Principal Patrick Taylor and Monroe City School Board President Bishop Rodney McFarland Sr. contacted Claudetteia Love, who is being represented by the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), to inform her that she will be allowed to wear a tuxedo to her senior prom on April 24.

“We are pleased to hear that Principal Taylor and the Monroe City School Board corrected this wrong before any serious harm was done. Forbidding girls from wearing a tuxedo to the prom would have served no purpose other than to reinforce the worst sorts of harmful stereotypes and censor a core part of Claudetteia’s identity,” said NCLR Executive Director Kate Kendell. “The school is doing the right thing by supporting its students and teaching them the value of respect and acceptance of one another’s differences.”

Fox News host quotes fake news story on President Obama and

Imagine how dumb this Fox News host must feel...

Fox and Friends host Anna Koolman was discussing the closure of the World War II memorial in Washington during the shutdown Saturday, and claimed “President Obama has offered to pay out of his own pocket for the museum of Muslim culture” while allowing the memorial to remain shuttered.

Problem is - Anna reads can't tell the difference between "real news" and parody. The story actually came from the parody news site National Report.

Of course, this just gives even more credence to the fact that Fox and Friends doesn't know what they are talking about - truth or fiction. All the same to them.

Really bad 9/11 Remembrance idea

"In remembrance of those we lost on 9/11 the hotel will provide complimentary coffee and mini muffins from 8:45am - 9:15am"

Over 5,000 retweets in a day.

Just some of the comments:

• "My husband died in the WTC and all I got were these lousy muffins."
• "It's 9/11, we should do something, but what?" "Half an hour of mini-muffins in an awkward time slot?" "Brilliant."
• "We eat mini muffins for those who cannot."
• "Not even full-sized muffins???"

In the hotel chain's defense, they did release this statement:
"We are aware of the picture that was tweeted. It shows an offer that was made independently by the hotel and not the Marriott Hotels brand. As far as we know, it was limited to one property. While the hotel was making a sympathetic gesture to its guests in remembrance of 9/11, we apologize and understand why some people may have misunderstood the intent of the offer. We are reminding our hotels to use discretion and be sensitive when remembering major events such as 9/11."

Man with Romney campaign tattoo is finally removing it

I never saw this report from November with Eric Hartsburg explaining why he got this tattoo ($15,000) and why he finally decided to have it removed (Romney was a sore loser).

Remember, he got the tattoo about a week before the election when polls showed President Obama ahead.

And then there's the pink scrunchie holding his pony tail. Just saying...

City councilman faces backlash for sending email alert: "Bryan is gay"

Seriously dumb.

Councilman Matt Staniszewski, of Washington, Pennsylvania, has been reprimanded for sending out an "email alert" through the city's emergency email alert system that said "Alert: This is a test. Bryan is gay."

When Mayor Brenda Davis - who questioned why the councilman even had the codes to send an email on the system - addressed the councilman about the issue, he apparently responded that "gay means happy."

He then went on to admonish the mayor saying "It's offensive and unprofessional for the mayor to automatically assume one definition of the word when there are multiple definitions.”

Riiiiiight. That's really what he meant. And now the Mayor is the one in the wrong?

Not thinking so pal.

Watch Jimmy Kimmel goof on the gay.

Here's a pic of the councilman, who I hear is very gay, which means "very happy" - right?

Puerto Rico's Sen. Roberto Arango posts naked pics on Grindr

UPDATE: Sen. Roberto Arango, a Republican who represents the capital of San Juan for the island's governing party, presented his letter of resignation after a weekend meeting, Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz said.

Schatz did not release the lawmaker's letter, but said the circumstances that led to the resignation "are very lamentable."

Local news media published photos from the application showing a man's nude upper body with a cell phone obscuring his face. Another photo showed a rear view of a nude man on his hands and knees. Another showed a fuzzy image of a face that seemed to match Arango's.

Arango has neither confirmed nor denied suggestions by local media that the photos might be of him and apparently was not asked if he had posted them. During a recent interview with WAPA TV in Puerto Rico, the senator said he has taken pictures of himself with a cell phone to document his recent weight loss.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

ORIGINAL POST: Puerto Rico's 'Anthony Weiner' is much more exciting than ours: Last week, images from Puerto Rican senator and GOP cheerleader Roberto Arango's alleged profile on gay hook-up app Grindr surfaced.

Puerto Rico's Sen. Roberto Arango, who chaired the local 2004 campaign to reelect George W. Bush, has been found showing his anus (NSFW) on the gay hook-up site Grindr.

Arango acknowledges that the photos are of him, but says he was merely posting images to show off his recent weight loss.  IN HIS ANUS.

"You know I've been losing weight. As I shed that weight, I've been taking pictures. I don't remember taking this particular picture but I'm not gonna say I didn't take it. I'd tell you if I remembered taking the picture but I don't."

Prior to this scandal, Arango was mostly known for the ridicule he endured after publishing a grammatically disastrous letter demanding statehood for Puerto Rico because (among other reasons) so many fast food restaurants have outlets there.

In 2009 he voted in favor of Resolution 99 which would have amended Puerto Rico's constitution to ban the recognition of same-sex marriages (it didn't pass).

He has been opposed to civil union bills and in 2004 he used a rubber duck and made it quack to make fun of an opponent (in Puerto Rico, the word for duck, "pato", means faggot.)

SRSLY people - how many 'holier than thou' - 'I just want to keep my money and be rich' closeted Republicans can there be?
