Repeat Offenders: Giuliani Heading to Ukraine To Dig Dirt On Biden For Trump

The New York Times is reporting that Donald Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has announced plans to travel to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, in order to dig up dirt against former Vice President Joe Biden.

Yes, that would be encouraging and accepting help from a foreign nation for a U.S. election.

This sounds familiar...

Rudolph W. Giuliani, President Trump’s personal lawyer, is encouraging Ukraine to wade further into sensitive political issues in the United States, seeking to push the incoming government in Kiev to press ahead with investigations that he hopes will benefit Mr. Trump.

Mr. Giuliani said he plans to travel to Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, in the coming days and wants to meet with the nation’s president-elect to urge him to pursue inquiries that allies of the White House contend could yield new information about two matters of intense interest to Mr. Trump.

One is the origin of the special counsel’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. The other is the involvement of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s son in a gas company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch.

Rudy Giuliani: I Never Said There Was No Collusion Between Trump Campaign And Russia

I think this is what we call "moving the goalposts."

In a stunning reversal, Donald Trump's legal eagle Rudy Giuliani told CNN's Chris Cuomo last night that he never said there was "no collusion" between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian agents.

President Trump’s legal spokesman Rudolph W. Giuliani on Wednesday night appeared to grant the possibility that members of Trump’s campaign did, in fact, collude with the Russians during the 2016 presidential election campaign.

And in the process, he contradicted dozens of previous denials that both the Trump team (and Trump himself) have offered.

“I never said there was no collusion between the campaign or between people in the campaign,” Giuliani told CNN’s Chris Cuomo, before getting cut off.

“Yes, you have,” Cuomo said.

Giuliani shot back: “I have not. I said ‘the president of the United States.’”

Now, perhaps Giuliani never said the exact words "no one from the Trump campaign ever communicated with Russian interlopers," but that has been the clear message from Donald Trump regarding his team and the alleged Russian interference during the 2016 presidential race.

"No collusion" has been the Trumpster's mantra over and over again.

This is first time anyone connected to Trump has opened the door to the idea that someone associated with Trump colluded with Russian forces without his knowledge.

The Washington Post breaks down the many evolving positions like this:

1. November 2016: No communications, period

2. February 2017: There were no communications, “to the best of our knowledge”

3. March 2017: There were communications, but no planned meetings with Russians

4. July 8, 2017: There was a planned meeting at Trump Tower, but it was “primarily” about adoption and not the campaign

5. July 9, 2017: The meeting was planned to discuss the campaign, but the information exchanged wasn't “meaningful”

6. December 2017: Collusion isn't even a crime

7. May 16, 2018: Even if meaningful information were obtained, it wasn't used

8. May 19, 2018: There was a *second* planned meeting about foreign help in the election, but nothing came of it either

9. July 16, 2018: Trump couldn't collude, because Trump didn't even know Putin

10. July 30, 2018: Collusion isn't a crime, and Trump wasn't physically at the Trump Tower meeting

11. January 16, 2019: Trump didn’t collude, but no guarantees on others in the campaign

In one of his most forceful attacks on the special counsel yet, Rudy Giuliani on Friday claimed the Russia investigation could get “cleaned up” with pardons from President Trump in light Paul Manafort being sent to jail.

“When the whole thing is over, things might get cleaned up with some presidential pardons,” the former New York mayor told the Daily News.

Giuliani’s stunning remark came hours after a Washington, D.C., judge revoked Manafort’s bail and ordered him to remain behind bars while awaiting his September trial on charges relating to his shady pro-Russian business dealings in Ukraine. The ruling came after Robert Mueller’s investigators alleged Manafort had attempted to tamper with witnesses in the Russia investigation.

Axios reports there is unrest in the White House as the Rudy Giuliani media circus continues to unravel.

If you were gobsmacked watching Rudy Giuliani’s media tour this week — which he launched on Fox News’ Hannity by announcing that Trump reimbursed lawyer Michael Cohen for a hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels — you weren’t alone.

What we’re hearing: A White House official told me there were “a couple of Mooch references” in the West Wing last week, as Giuliani’s performance recalled Anthony Scaramucci’s frenzied 11-day stint last summer as White House communications director.

If the Giuliani circus continues unabated — with him taking media calls day and night and freelancing on legal and policy matters — White House staff will likely quit, a well-placed source tells me.

Is Rudy Giuliani Trying To Get Donald Trump Impeached?

I'm a bit slow this morning as I sit down at my desk and the Twitterverse is going gaga over Donald Trump's new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, having a disastrous appearance on ABC News' This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

I've been a bit burned out on the constant dumpster fire that is the Trump administration, so I scrolled past several of these posts and tweets.

Finally, there are so many I decide to take a look. How bad could it have been?

Umm, really bad.

Giuliani swung from trying to deny the Donald ever met porn star Stormy Daniels (Stephanopoulos puts a pic of the two onscreen) to dismissing his own statements to other media outlets as "rumors" to admitting he didn't know if it was ok to lie to the press.

At one point, Stephanopoulos asked if Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen had made payments to other women on behalf of the president? Giuliani's response: “I have no knowledge of that, but I would think if it was necessary, yes."

The former mayor of New York City also suggested that Trump may invoke the 5th Amendment.

Donald Trump's newly-installed lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is in serious spin mode as he attempts to walk back his comments that the Trumpster knew about the $130K "hush money" to porn star Stormy Daniels and has since repaid the funds to longtime "fixer" Michael Cohen.

Giuliani issued an official statement today "intended to clarify the views I expressed over the past few days."

First: There is no campaign violation. The payment was made to resolve a personal and false allegation in order to protect the President’s family. It would have been done in any event, whether he was a candidate or not.

Second: My references to timing were not describing my understanding of the President’s knowledge, but instead, my understanding of these matters.

Third: It is undisputed that the President’s dismissal of former Director Comey – an inferior executive officer – was clearly within his Article II power. Recent revelations about former Director Comey further confirm the wisdom of the President’s decision, which was plainly in the best interests of our nation.

This comes on the heels of Trump throwing Giuliani under the bus this morning saying the former NYC mayor "had just started, and he wasn’t totally familiar with everything.”

Donald Trump threw his new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, under the bus twice this morning as he addressed Giuliani's recent remarks saying the Donald knew about and repaid a $130K "hush money" payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

“He started yesterday. He will get his facts straight,” Trump said of Giuliani on his way to the NRA convention in Texas. “Virtually everything that’s been said has been said incorrectly.”

Arriving at Joint Base Andrews, Trump again discussed Giuliani with reporters, saying he’s a “special guy” who is new on the job.

“When Rudy made the statements — Rudy is great — but Rudy had just started, and he wasn’t totally familiar with everything,” Trump said.

GiulianI: Trump Repaid Michael Cohen The $130K Stormy Daniels Hush Money

The political world is all agog today as Donald Trump's newest legal eagle, former NYC Mayor Rudy Guiliani, told Fox News' Sean Hannity last night that Trump did, indeed, repay his other lawyer Michael Cohen for the infamous $130K hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

“It’s going to turn out to be perfectly legal; that money was not campaign money,” Giuliani, Trump’s new lead attorney regarding issues related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“Sorry, I’m giving you a fact now that you don’t know,” Giuliani continued, before saying that the payment was “funneled through a law firm, and then the president repaid it.”

The news directly contradicts Trump’s statements last month that he had no knowledge that Cohen had paid Daniels. Reporters aboard Air Force One had asked whether Trump knew about the payment, to which the president replied: “No.”

“You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen,” Trump said when pressed on the issue. “Michael is my attorney. You’ll have to ask Michael.”

The Trumpster's Twitter account attempted to address the issue today. Although, I'm thinking a lawyer wrote these tweets as they don't have Trump's signature caps-lock yelling and errant air-quotes.

Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA. These agreements are.....

Rudy Giuliani Admits Trump Campaign Receiving Leaked Info From FBI

During a television interview today, Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani admitted he and the Trump campaign have been receiving leaked information from inside the FBI for months, including the agency's plan to review additional emails found on a laptop shared by Clinton aide, Huma Abedin.

The former New York City mayor and Trump surrogate has recently dropped a series of hints that he knew in advance that the FBI planned to look at emails potentially connected to Clinton’s private server. The agency discovered the messages while investigating former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) for allegedly sexting with a minor. (Weiner’s estranged wife, Huma Abedin, is a top aide to Clinton.)

Giuliani has bragged about his close ties to the FBI for months, mentioning in interviews that “outraged FBI agents” have told him they’re frustrated by how the Clinton investigation was handled. And two days before FBI Director James Comey announced that the agency was reviewing the newly uncovered emails, Giuliani teased that Trump’s campaign had “a couple of surprises left.”

“You’ll see, and I think it will be enormously effective,” he said in an interview with Fox News.

All of this has led to suspicion that someone in the FBI is leaking information to Giuliani and the Trump campaign. The Daily Beast’s Wayne Barrett explored those suspicions on Thursday, detailing how Giuliani’s ties to the agency date back to his days as a U.S. attorney in the 1980s.

Giuliani confirmed that notion Friday during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“I did nothing to get it out, I had no role in it,” he said. “Did I hear about it? You’re darn right I heard about it, and I can’t even repeat the language that I heard from the former FBI agents.”

He's clearly living for all the attention he's getting as a Trump surrogate.

Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani told a campaign crowd today that he was on site at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and he doesn't remember seeing then Sen. Hillary Clinton at the site.

Don't tell me if you said that that you remember September 11, 2001. I remember September 11, 2001. Yes, yes, you helped to get benefits for the people who were injured that day. But I heard her say she was there that day. I was there that day, I don't remember seeing Hillary Clinton there. That was like when she said she had to run through gunfire. That turned out to be,, what do we call it? A lie.

But don't tell me that you subscribe the notion that all of us who were with on September 11 and we're lucky to be alive and have lost so many friends. I lost so many friends on September 11. I think about it every day. Don't tell me you belong to our very, very tight group of "never forget." Don't tell me that.

Watching Rudy Giuliani on CNN's "State of the Union" this morning was an adventure in twisted logic.

CNN's Jake Tapper attempted get straight answers from Giuliani regarding the latest Trump bombshell concerning his income taxes via the New York Times, but to little avail. Giuliani appeared a bit wild-eyed at times trying to get his approved "talking points" across.

Rudy Giuliani Forgets That Thing That He Mentions Every Time He Speaks

Former Mayor of New York City Rudy Guiliani somehow forgot the one thing he always remembers to mention in every speech he's made for the past 15 years.

During a speech in Youngstown, Ohio, while stumping for Donald Trump, Giuliani told the crowd that radical Islamic terrorist attacks only began under President Obama's administration.

Folks have pointed to a bump on his head, but it's really is inconceivable that Guiliani, of all people, would forget the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001, which happened on President George W. Bush's watch.

Somehow, Rudy says "Before Obama, we didn't have any successful radical Islamic attacks in the US."

Umm, wow.

UPDATE: Giuliani now says he was speaking in "abbreviated language" which would explain why he totally left out the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.

“I’m not there to give a major 45-minute policy address,” he said of his Trump introduction Monday in Youngstown, Ohio, where he said plainly that “under those eight years, before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack inside the United States.”

“You speak in somewhat abbreviated language,” Giuliani told The News Tuesday. “All human beings speak in abbreviated language at times.”

Rudy Guiliani Doubles Down On "Obama Doesn't Love America" Screed

Appearing on Fox News' The Kelly File, former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani said he will not back down from comments he made about President Obama on Wednesday.

“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America,” Giuliani said at a private dinner. “He doesn’t love you. He doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up, through love of this country.”

Kelly began the segment asking if he would like to apologize for his comments – but he refused, saying he actually wanted “to repeat it.”

“This is an American president I’ve never seen before,” he said. “From all that I can see of this president, all that I’ve heard of him, he apologizes for America, he criticizes America … I don’t feel it. I don’t feel the love of America.”

“I’m right about this,” he concluded. “I have no doubt about it; I do not withdraw my words.”

Soledad O'Brien to Rudy Guiliani: "You gotta stop putting words in my mouth"

I've always been a fan of Soledad O'Brien. And I'm really loving her "no nonsense" approach to interviews these days. Ask a question - ask for the answer.

Soledad O'Brien and Mayor Rudy Giuliani had a very heated exchange over President Obama's response to Libya on Monday's "Starting Point."

O'Brien replayed a clip of Matthew Dowd, a former member of George W. Bush's administration, defending the White House against criticism that it doesn't have the answers about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. He said that it took far longer than two weeks to get to the truth about weapons of mass destruction. O'Brien asked Giuliani if Dowd had a point. "So we're gonna blame this on Bush too?" Giuliani said.

 "You gotta stop putting words in my mouth, sir," O'Brien interjected. After some back-and-forth, she continued, "Every time I ask you a question, you like to push back as if somehow the question being posed to you is unfair. It's not. I'm a journalist, you said some things. I'm trying to get some accurate responses from you. You are welcome to answer."
