Out Music: Jeb Havens' Gorgeous Cover Of Lorde's "Liability"

Jeb Havens
Back from a year-long trek around the world (I actually caught him in concert in Puerto Vallarta last month), uber-talented Jeb Havens was quick to start recording new music.

And here's his first new track - a cover of Lorde's "Liability."

I'm sooooo excited that Lorde has new music coming out! I absolutely adore her and can't wait to hear the rest of this album in a few weeks. I heard this beautiful, dark, and emotional pre-released single and it immediately resonated with me, and I couldn't get it out of my head until I recorded it in my closet.

Listen to the powerful yet sensitive reading of "Liability" below. You can find Haven's music on iTunes here.

Music Video: Jeb Havens "Close Love"

Out singer/songwriter Jeb Havens (currently on a journey around the world with his bf) drops this music video for "Close Love" from his album HOME BASE.

For this video, we shot footage in and around the gorgeous cathedral in Cologne, Germany, and the nearby "love locks" bridge.

Created entirely using a phone, a laptop, and an amazing boyfriend.

One of my goals of my travels is to record and release videos for a bunch of the songs from "Home Base" (capturing some of the amazing places I get to visit), so I'm really excited to finally share the first one with you all.

I've previously written about the talented and oh-so-woofy Havens here, here and here.

Jeb Havens is an international recording artist and songwriter based in Los Angeles, and one of my favorite out musicians.

His music is a blend of catchy pop and raw emotional therapy. His YouTube channel, featuring his popular "Closet Covers" series has over 650,000 views, and captured the attention of Reddit, BuzzFeed, and the TV show “Right This Minute”.

Music: Jeb Havens' Closet Cover - Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited"

One of my favorite indie artists, out singer/songwriter Jeb Havens, shares the latest in his Closet Covers series.

This time we get "invited" to Havenss take on Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited."

Havens cites Morissette as a huge influence on his own music, and for good reason. This sits right in the sweet spot of Haven's musical wheel house. Sincere, complex lyrics and melody in a stripped down setting leaving the emotional life bare for the audience.

I've shared other music from Havens here and here and here.

Definitely head over to iTunes to check out more of his music. But first, hit the play button below and enjoy.

Happy Monday!

Jeb Havens & Michael Powers Cover "Enough" By Reba McEntire & Jennifer Nettles

The universe has a fantastic way of taking care of us, don't you know?

Just in time for Hump Day (or should it be "Hunk Day?"), woofy Jeb Havens and Michael Powers share their take on the Reba McEntire/Jennifer Nettles hit "Enough" from Reba's new album Love Somebody (currently number one on the iTunes Country chart).

Following in the tradition of Haven's "Closet Covers," the two songsters recorded their separate vocals from their respective closets in Los Angeles and Chicago.

The guys shared this with the video on YouTube:
We both love this amazing song from Reba's new album so decided to record a cover from our closets in Los Angeles and Chicago. Please share the video if you like it. Maybe then even Reba herself might see it someday. :)
So, let's see if we can make that happen. Share this link all over your social media, kids :)

Havens is a Randy Report favorite having stopped internet traffic with his heartbreaking cover of "Fast Car" last year. Find more of my coverage of Havens here.

You can follow his YouTube channel here, and follow American Idol's Michael Powers on YouTube here.

Music: "Exit Strategy" Tawnee Kendall ft Jeb Havens and the Hangover Brigade

New music video from Tawnee Kendall featuring totally woofy Jeb Havens and the Hangover Brigade - "Exit Strategy."

"Exit Strategy" is a love song about having someone you can depend on to get you out of any situation. Whether that be something as simple as a party, or as important as a previous bad relationship.

Download the song off the Still Taste It EP.

When Four Gay Indie Artists Covered John Mayer's "St. Patrick's Day"

Out indie artists Tom Goss, Jeb Havens, Dennis Hensley and Matt Zarley unite (kinda like the Avengers, but not...) to bring you this cover of John Meyer's "St. Patrick's Day."

Favorite shot has to be Tom Goss shirtless in the middle of this wintry tune.

I'm a fan of all four, so follow them on their respective YouTube channels:

Music: Matt Zarley "Somebody For Everybody" (feat Shoshana Bean & Jeb Havens)

Award-winning singer/songwriter Matt Zarley releases this acoustic version of his song "Somebody For Everybody" with guest vocals by the fab Shoshana Bean and uber-talented Jeb Havens.

The song began as a uptempo/dance track early in the genesis of Zarley's hopefulROMANTIC project. But once done, he decided he wanted the tune to have a more subtle setting.

Three terrific musicians here, kids.

"There's somebody for everybody, you've just gotta believe..."

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

12 Days Of Christmas Music: Jeb Havens "I Wish I Had A River"

Seeing how it's Hump Day and I just received this excellent cover of Joni Mitchell's "River" by the uber-talented Jeb Havens, how could I not post it today?

You can't have too much holiday music :)

I've enjoyed Jeb's music for a long time. You'll recall his version of "Fast Car" this summer set the internet on fire, plus his collaborations with other artists like Matt Zarley and Tom Goss, and his own original songs have all appeared on The Randy Report.

In addition to a gorgeous voice that suits him perfectly, Jeb has an uncanny sense for songs that suit his considerable talents, and "River" is a fantastic choice for both his voice and his interpretive powers.

Find more of his music on iTunes here.

Although not specifically a Christmas song (the lyrics begin with "it's coming on Christmas"), the song has emerged as a modern Christmas standard.

"River" is the second-most widely covered of songs in Mitchell's catalog.

Jeb Havens and Tom Goss cover Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"

Who needs professional dancers and high-end production when you've got out singer/songwriters Tom Goss and Jeb Havens? These two "bear-y" talented guys only need a trash can, some mics, and a keyboard roped to a sawhorse.

Check out their "trashy" take on Taylor Swift's hit song "Shake It Off."

Love both of these guys. A think a hallmark of both artists is their lack of self-consciousness. They just hit "go" and share exactly who they are; no calculation, no overthinking.

Check earlier posts featuring Jab Havens here and here; and more Tom Goss here and here.
