Video: Pride Flag Vandalized In DC Neighborhood

A man in Washington D.C. was caught on video walking into a resident’s front yard and ripping down a rainbow Pride flag, all while yelling homophobic slurs.

A man in Washington D.C. was caught on video walking into a resident’s front yard and ripping down a rainbow Pride flag, all while yelling homophobic slurs.

The 30-second security camera video shows the man walking down the sidewalk, seemingly talking to himself. In the clip's audio, he can be heard shouting, “F*gg*t motherf**ker, you f*gg*t flag-flying motherf**ker.”

Clear as day, the man enters the yard, striding right up to the flag and snatching it from its mount.

Continuing to rant, the man attempts to destroy the flag slamming it on the ground before exiting the scene.

Twitter user @mjasonrhoades posted the clip to his account as well as the local D.C. community blog, Popville.

“This happened in broad daylight at our house on Independence at 17th St SE this morning while my wife was walking our dog,” wrote the Twitter user. “People like this should not be on our streets.”

The Washington Blade reports that D.C. police have seen the video but haven’t been able to contact the resident.

“We saw the Popville post as well and have attempted to make contact with and have the property owner make a report,” said D.C. Police Lt. Brett Parson, who oversees the department’s LGBT Liaison Unit. “They were encouraged to contact the LGBT Liaison Unit Duty Phone or call 911.”

“We stand ready to respond, investigate, and provide support,” added Parson.

Florida Church Fights Homophobic Vandalism With LGBT Messages Of Inclusion

(image via Facebook)

A church in Florida responded to homophobic vandalism with its own message of love.

Over the weekend, the Allendale United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, found the words “gay pastor” spray-painted across the church’s sign.

But, instead of immediately removing the graffiti, Rev. Andy Oliver decided to leave the spray paint surrounded by a rainbow of hearts (in a nod to the LGBTQ community) and the phrase, “LOVE ALWAYS WINS!”

"This is just one example of the type of hate crime and hate message the LGBT community goes through regularly," Oliver told The Tampa Bay Times. "It certainly isn’t great our sign got vandalized, but we want to surround that message of hate with a message of love, and that’s what we’ve received since."

Additionally, Oliver posted on the opposite side of the church sign the statement, “Vandalism is a felony that shouldn’t take away your vote for life! Vote yes on Amendment 4.”

Folks in the Sunshine state will soon vote on Amendment 4 which would restore voting rights to most felons after serving their time in prison.

The church has a history of using its sign to share progressive messages.

In July, a brick was thrown through the sign after a quote by civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis had been posted. That damage was significant enough that funds had to be raised to purchase a new sign set to be installed next month.

According to a St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson, the authorities are investigating the vandalism.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman chimed in via his Facebook account writing, “Amen, Allendale UMC - St. Petersburg. And this shows that we still have work to do, and why we fight every single day to create a climate of inclusion.”

Viral Video: Man Smashes Gay Ad At Bus Shelter

A man who claims to be a former Marine with nine children decided he had a "motherfucking First Amendment right" to smash and destroy a bus shelter ad that promoted a gay dating site.
“I’ve got nine children. Two boys, seven girls. I don’t want em seeing this f–king bulls–t on the streets of the USA. I fought for it. I’m a Marine. I didn’t fight for this s–t to be put up on my goddamn streets. It’s disrespectful. It’s insulting to people who do not care about this s–t. I’m smashing it outta there with a brick.”
I'll be curious to see if anyone (police/ad company) attempt to track the man down.

Michigan: Anti-Gay Auto Shop Owner Claims Graffiti Attack By "Evil" Homosexual Agenda

Michigan auto shop owner Brian Klawiter recently reported his business being vandalized by what he calls the "evil" homosexual agenda.

This comes in the wake of Klawiter's inflammatory statements last week when he said he wouldn't serve "openly gay" customers.

From Klawiter's Facebook page:

Well, folks, as we predicted, it didn't take long for the ugly face of the homosexual movement to present itself. What started out with "mere" death threats against myself and my family and homosexuals spamming my Facebook page with gay porn shots, has escalated to physical violence.

[snip]

The homosexual agenda is evil, and is prepared to destroy anyone who gets in its way, or who calls homosexuality a sin. Today it's us; tomorrow, it could be you.

There's really no way to know if this is true vandalism or staged to gin up further anti-gay furor.

But everyone should know violence and destruction by our side does no good for anyone.

Nowhere. No how.

Don't do it.

Home of openly gay teen in Michigan targeted for vandalism

A openly gay 16 year old student has become the target of vandalism to his home in Vienna Township, Michigan.

From NBC25:

The parents and the young man are speaking out tonight---saying they will not suffer in silence.

“Over here you can see the red and black paint from the arrow,” says Melanie Peabody while pointing out the damage to her home.

She and her husband tried to wipe away the graffiti but the traces are still there.

“I’m mad. My son's not safe,” says Peabody.

A homosexual slur was spray-painted on her Vienna Township home with an arrow pointing to her 16 year old son's bedroom.

“It does hurt,” says Levi Peabody who attends Clio High School. “As much as I don't want to admit it, it does hurt that someone would dislike me that much to do something to my window,” adds the high school sophomore.

The Peabodys believe classmates of Levi are behind the act.

“I want the kid that did this to get caught,” says Levi’s mother.

The Peabodys have even installed a security camera in their bedrooms to try and catch the culprits but more importantly to let people know, they will not stand for this.
