Sexy Song Of The Summer: Luis Fonsi "Despacito" Feat. Daddy Yankee

As I hit the pool today, you can be sure this is on my playlist having been labeled "Song of the Summer" by numerous music outlets.

And then there are the 3.5 billion views on YouTube.

Back in July, Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" became the most-streamed song of all time, just six months after being released.

At the time, Fonsi told the BBC, that while he was trying to write a hit song, he had no idea of the crossover appeal the song would achieve.

"What's happened with this song is just insane," said Fonsi. "I just wanted to make people dance."

"I come from Puerto Rico and I live in Miami. We're living in an interesting time right now when people want to divide us. They want to build walls. And for a song to bring people and cultures together, that's what makes me proud."

Dang, it's sexy.

Summer: Block The Sun, Not The Fun

I realized that when I post my pics from the pool at Casa de Slovacek, I don't always mention that it's uber-important to use sunscreen.

Now that we're in the midst of summer sun/fun days, it goes without saying everyone knows you should be using a moisturizer with sunscreen every day, right?

Not only to avoid sun burn but who wants to age any faster than you have to? I always use a daily moisturizer with sunscreen and look at me, I'm 87! (kidding...)

There are lots of products out there; some good, some not so much.

My super-cute longtime friend Kari Nicolaisen is such a big fan of Arbonne products she became a distributor. So I asked her about protecting against unfriendly solar rays.

Kari's sassy reply:

Hey hotties, by now your summer tans should be perfect! Add this little beauty to your maintenance regime to enhance your healthy, youthful glow!

And for some of your majesties, that are stuck in the office, there is NO self-tanner out there that can compete with Arbonne's.

These products and much, much more!!!

Please contact me to find out how to get you deepest, largest, sexiest discounts!

See you at the beach!

Arbonne is a highly regarded premium brand whose products are botanically based, not tested on animals & do not use animal by-products. You have to be cruelty-free, folks ;)

I know a lot of people are using Arbonne products these days and love them.

Note: I am not being paid or compensated in any way for this post. I figure if you're going to address a problem (skin damage from the sun), come with a solution (skin care for sun fun).

If you'd like to try Arbonne, check out Kari's web page here for more info.

Drone Spots Man Catching Rays Atop 200 Foot Wind Turbine

Here's a solution for the crowded beaches and pools of summer.

Drone pilot Kevin Miller, shooting video of a giant wind turbine in Rhode Island, was surprised to find a man sunbathing on the top of it.

Via RT:

The bearded man’s identity was unknown at first, with some speculating that he might have been an engineer who had decided to take a short break after conducting some maintenance work.

However, the truth is even more interesting. According to WPRO News, the man is actually a monk who works at the nearby Portsmouth Abbey School. In fact, the school even told the station that it’s not rare for the monk to soak in the sun atop the turbine.

By the way, the video is amazingly crystal clear. Take a look.

I Hear School Starts Up Soon...

So many of my friends are school teachers, and I see many are already back at school this week!

I always hated the end of summer. We never went back to school until after Labor Day, no?

Get that summer sunshine time in, kids!

NYC: Mad Dash At Free Movie Night In Bryant Park

The Gothamist points out the "only in NYC" kind of tradition of the Bryant Park Summer Movie Night.

On Monday evenings, HBO sponsors a free movie in Bryant Park. The series lasts ten weeks this year, and getting decent space for your blanket is a serious tactic.

Folks beginning lining up by 3PM, but you're not allowed to put down your blanket until 5PM. And the movie doesn't begin until around 9PM because "dark." So, plenty of time to eat and drink, don't you know?

Watch the rush for space in the one minute video below.

And click here to read about more tips and techniques to enjoying the free flick.

How To Avoid Mosquito Bites

Summer is here, and it's time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors But one of the few spoilers to the good times can be the never-welcome mosquito.

According to Dr. Clifford Bassett, medical director of Allergy and Asthma Care of New York, "One insect can spot you 150 feet away and actually zone in on you."

So here's a little info to help you understand and avoid mosquitos so they don't ruin your summer fun.

Why are they attracted to us? Apparently, there are around 400 compounds in our skin that mosquitos find attractive. Carbon dioxide in our breath, sweat, perfumes, and more.

Plus - I didn't know this one - pregnant women can get more than their share of attention due to exhaling more carbon dioxide than others.

On the other hand, some folks' bodies create natural repellents. It's the luck of the draw which one you are.

So what can you do to avoid the flying biters? You can use the repellents you see in the stores like DEET, or try an organic insect repellent.

Additionally, keep a fan blowing on you to keep the bugs from landing on you. If they can't land, they can't bite :)

Happy Summer!

"Camp Camp 2014" - the summer camp for LGBT adults

Summer camp for adult LGBT folks.  I can see a BIG market for this.

From the Camp Camp website:

Since 1997, ‘Camp’ Camp – America’s premier summer camp for GLBT adults – has offered a fun and distinctive vacation for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Structured just like the sleep-away summer camp that you remember from when you were young(er), Camp offers a full program of great outdoor, athletic, and arts & crafts activities along with a variety of entertaining evening social events.

Located in scenic southwestern Maine, ‘Camp’ Camp is the perfect alternative vacation for adventurous members of the GLBT community looking for a unique vacation option beyond the usual gay cruise or resort.

Our Campers say ‘Camp’ Camp is the best time ever – and who are we to disagree?!
