Donald Trump Attacks His Own Administration's Position On FISA, Then Flip-Flops Back

This morning, during Donald Trump's "Executive Time," the man who says he has no time to watch TV because he's reading "documents" was clearly watching a report on Fox News about a Congressional vote to reauthorize FISA, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

In a kneejerk reaction, Trump let the world know that he doesn't understand what the law does.

Note - FISA is used for the collection of foreign intelligence against a non-U.S. person overseas.

Moments after Fox's report aired, Trump shared this tweet:

“House votes on controversial FISA ACT today.” This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?

The dossier he's referring to is the series of memos compiled by former MI6 British spy Christopher Steele, a Russian expert, for Fusion GPS.

It's important to note that, despite the Donald's protestations, much of it has been corroborated, and none of it has been officially debunked.

In any case, the problem with Trump's tweet is his administration actually SUPPORTS the reauthorization of the FISA Act.

So, flippity-flop, a short time later, Trump tried to get back on the right side of his own policy:

So Fox News gets Trump to reverse an official WH position on pending critical national security legislation then the WH scrambles to get Trump to reverse the reversal an hour later. Stable genius indeed

Mitt Romney on gay rights - 1994

A letter was published today on the internet that came from then-senate candidate Mitt Romney that was written to the Log Cabin Republicans in 1994.

While we've all heard about Romney's flip-flopping, the letter is kind of stunning in it's clarity of how "then" Mitt Romney supported rights for gays and lesbians - specifically on the issues of gays in the military and ENDA (Employment Non-discrimination Act).

In the letter he promises - if elected - to co-sponsor ENDA and actually broaden the bill to include housing and credit, and the bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide.

He goes on to say that, regarding DADT, "it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation's military.  That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."

Where is this Mitt Romney today?  And what - other than political considerations - would change his mind on these subjects?
