Trump Supporter Arrested For Death Threats To Boston Globe

A California man was arrested this week for making multiple death threats targeting the Boston Globe using homophobic slurs.

Robert Chain of Encino, California, has been charged with making threatening communications in interstate commerce after he allegedly called in threats to the Boston Globe newsroom 14 times over a 12-day period between August 10 and 22.

The threats apparently stemmed from the Globe’s call for newspapers across the nation to publish op-ed pieces in support of a free press all on the same day.

From the Department of Justice:

On Aug. 10, 2018, the Boston Globe announced that it was requesting that other newspaper publications around the country publish a coordinated editorial response to political attacks on the media. The coordinated editorial response was to be published on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018.

According to court documents, immediately following the announcement, Chain began making threatening calls to the Boston Globe’s newsroom.

In the calls, Chain referred to the Globe as “the enemy of the people” and threatened to kill newspaper employees.

In total, it is alleged that Chain made approximately 14 threatening phone calls to the Globe between August 10 and 22, 2018.

Over 300 newspapers took part in the coordinated editorials.

Homophobic slurs “faggot” and “cocksuckers” were a popular choice of insult used by Chain.

According to an affidavit filed by the FBI, Chain said in an August 13 phone call, “Hey, how’s your pussy smell today, nice and fresh? We are going to shoot you motherfuckers in the head, you Boston Globe cocksuckers. Shoot every fucking one of you.”

During a call on August 16, Chain used the word “faggot” as he continued to threaten the Globe, which he referred to as “the enemy of the people.”

“You’re the enemy of the people, and we’re going to kill every fucking one of you. Hey, why don’t you call the F, why don’t you call Mueller, maybe he can help you out buddy. Still there faggot? Alright, why, you going to trace my call? What are you going to do motherfucker? You ain’t going to do shit. I’m going to shoot you in the fucking head later today, at 4 o’clock. Goodbye.”

In a call on August 22, the 68-year-old told the Globe, “You are the enemy of the people, and I want you to go fuck yourself.” Chain added that he would continue with this threats “as long as you keep attacking the President.” Chain went on to use the term “fake news” in that same phone call.

The phrases “enemy of the people” and “fake news” have been used many times in past months by President Trump as he has attacked various news outlets in public statements.

In fact, since the deadly gun shooting in June at the Maryland newspaper, The Capital Gazette, Trump has used the term nine times.

When police entered Chain’s home, they found over 20 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Chain faces a possible five year prison sentence, one year of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.

Arizona: Trump/Nazi Billboard Draws Death Threats For Artist

Artist Karen Fiorito knew backlash was bound to come. And it has.

Commissioned by a downtown Phoenix art gallery in January to create a billboard art piece that would comment on President Donald Trump's administration, Fiorito said what she had in mind was going to stir up a controversy.

"Billboards are perfect because you don't have to go to a gallery to see it," she said. "You're creating a dialogue with the public. You're reaching people you'd never reach with your artwork."

The completed billboard, now looming over Grand Avenue and Taylor Street, went up in downtown Phoenix on Friday afternoon amid the Art Detour event. Plastered on one side is a depiction of Trump's face staring down. The red background is mingled with mushroom-cloud explosions and dollar signs in typography imitating Nazi swastikas.

Stories on the billboard went viral Friday night. The Arizona State University alumnus said she and her husband, who don't currently live in Arizona, began receiving threats Saturday morning.

"I've been called a communist, a Satan worshiper," she said. "I've been told I'm a 'very, very sick person.' I'm not sure what that means. I haven't been answering the phone. My husband has because he's not afraid to talk to anyone, but he told me he received a couple death threats this morning. ... He said, 'They were coming to get us with their boys.' "

The president of the Arizona Republic,Mi-Ai Parrish, responds to the death threats - yes, you read that correctly - the paper and it's reporters received after endorsing a Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in the paper's history.

As someone who has spent a career in the business of words, it’s unusual to find myself speechless.

Yet, there I was, a little more than two weeks ago.

What is the correct response, really, to this?

YOU'RE DEAD. WATCH YOUR BACK.

WE WILL BURN YOU DOWN.

YOU SHOULD BE PUT IN FRONT OF A FIRING SQUAD AS A TRAITOR.

How did I come to be hearing these threats?

More than a year ago, The Republic’s editorial board began taking a stand against the actions and positioning of Donald Trump. In piece after piece, we made it clear that his principles weren’t conservative. They were bad for the party, bad for Arizona, dangerous for America.

But in its more than 125 years, The Republic had never endorsed a Democrat for president. So, over the many months of the campaign, we found ourselves with this question: Endorse no one, or endorse a Democrat for the first time in our history?

We made our choice soberly. We knew it would be unpopular with many people. We knew that, although we had clearly stated our objections to Trump, it would be a big deal for a conservative editorial board in a conservative state to break ranks from the party.

We chose patriotism over party. We endorsed the Democrat.

And then the reaction started pouring in. Threats against our business. Threats against our people.

So, what is the response?

What is the correct response to any of the vile threats against me? What is the correct response to the more disturbing actions and words directed against so many others?

I've thought about those responses a lot. Today, I offer you a few.

Arizona Pastor Steven Anderson Doubles Down On 'Execute The Gays To Cure AIDS' Hate Speech

Arizona Baptist pastor Steven Anderson -- who called for the mass execution of gays in a recent sermon in order to have an "AIDS-free world by Christmas" -- doubled down on his virulently anti-gay stance in this interview with Arizona television anchor Mark Curtis.

"What you have to understand is that the Bible commands that certain people be put to death. Not by me, not by Christians -- it's obviously not my job or the job of any Christian to go out and kill anybody -- and I've never taught anything like that. But rather, that the government's job is to punish criminals and to execute those who committed capital crimes. And according to the Bible, homosexuality is a capital crime. And I didn't write the Bible."

The interview was due to the reaction from Anderson's November 30th sermon where he said this:

“It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant,” he added. “It wouldn’t be totally AIDS-free, but we’d be like 90-some percent AIDS-free by Christmas if we follow this.”

Arizona Rep. Chad Campbell receives death threats after defense of LGBT rights

Democratic House Minority Leader Chad Campbell was one of the LGBT community's strongest and most impassioned voices yesterday in the Arizona House's debate on legalizing anti-gay discrimination.

Today, he shared on Twitter that he's now received death threats for speaking out against hate.

For the record, Campbell is heterosexual and married.

Unfortunately for Arizona he is term limited out of office this year. Here's hoping he moves on to even bigger and better in public office.

Five year old Disney Channel star receives death threats

After the Disney Channel program introduced a lesbian couple as characters on the show "Good Luck Charlie," the show's five year old star received death threats on her Instagram fan page:

Talerico’s show, Good Luck Charlie, introduced the two characters, Susan and Cheryl, in an episode aired on Jan. 26.

Talerico’s real-life mother, Claire, notified Disney security after someone began posting messages on the actress’ Instagram account saying, “Die Mia, F*cking Die in hell! Kill yourself, you deserve to die.”

Police are currently investigating the threats.

The last episode of the series airs later this month after a 100 episode run.

Cult of Dusty reads hate mail, death threats from DUCK DYNASTY fans

So, vlogger Cult of Dusty is officially one of the best things on the internet. I so proclaim it to be so.

Dusty got in a bit of a "dust up" (did you see what I did there?) a few weeks ago during the height of the DUCK DYNASTY debacle where Phil Robertson told GQ Magazine that gays will burn in hell or whatever.

Dusty posted a video sharing some of his thoughts on the issue including the fact that Phil and company were actually clean shaven preppies before they costumed up for the reality show.

Apparently he got lots of hate mail, including mail with death threats, from the fans of the show. Classy fans you got there Phil Robertson - see what you inspire?
