Gallup reports that for the first time in 17 years, a woman other than Hillary Clinton tops the list of women Americans admire most.

Former first lady Michelle Obama, who finished second to Clinton three times and is currently touring to promote her recently released autobiography, won by a significant margin this year. Oprah Winfrey was second, with Clinton and Melania Trump next.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama was the winner among men for the 11th consecutive year, including one year as president-elect, eight as president and two as former president. President Donald Trump ranks second for the fourth year in a row.

Michelle Obama Snuck Out Of The White House To Enjoy Rainbow Lights Celebrating Marriage Equality

In her new memoir, Becoming, former First Lady Michelle Obama shares a touching episode from the day the U.S. Supreme Court declared marriage equality the law of the land.

The date was June 26, 2015.

Although she had just returned from a funeral service for the victims of the Charleston church shooting, she saw crowds gathering in front of the White House as evening fell.

From the window she could see a purple glow.

The staff had arrange to illuminate the residence in rainbow lights in celebration of the landmark ruling by SCOTUS.

Seeing the energy of the people, she found she was "suddenly desperate to join the celebration."

After checking with her husband ("There are tons of people out there - you know I can't do tons of people!") and her youngest daughter, Sasha, who was engrossed in her iPad, Michelle found Malia was down for the adventure.

“Looking out the window, I saw that beyond the gates on Pennsylvania Avenue, a big crowd of people had gathered in the summer dusk to see the lights. The north drive was filled with government staff who’d stayed late to see the White House transformed in celebration of marriage equality. The decision had touched so many people.

"From where I stood, I could see the exuberance, but I could hear nothing. It was an odd part of our reality.

“We made our way down a marble staircase and over red carpets, around the busts of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin and past the kitchen until suddenly we were outdoors. Malia and I just busted past the agents on duty, neither one of us making eye contact.

"The humid summer air hit our faces. I could see fireflies blinking on the lawn. And there it was, the hum of the public, people whooping and celebrating outside the iron gates.

“It had taken us 10 minutes to get out of our own home, but we’d done it. We were outside, standing on a patch of lawn off to one side, out of sight of the public but with a beautiful, close-up view of the White House, lit up in pride.

"Malia and I leaned into each other, happy to have found our way there.”

In related news, Michelle appeared on ELLEN today to chat on the new book.

The segments included a visit to Costco with Ellen (where she created a foreseeable spectacle); her first kiss; Malia attending her prom with secret service agents in tow; and a discussion about inauguration crowd sizes ("Two of ours, one of someone else's...").

Michelle's publisher, Crown Publishing, reports that Becoming sold over 725,000 copies on its first day making it one of the biggest debuts of the year.

With the release of her new book, Becoming, Michelle Obama has begun the arduous-yet-necessary book tour.

Sitting down with Robin Roberts for Good Morning America today, Michelle was asked a range of questions relating to topics in the new memoir.

Roberts also asked which potential presidential candidates she's watching for 2020?

"I think at this point everybody is qualified and everybody should run," she said. "I might even tap Sasha."

When asked if her joke was in reference to President Donald Trump, Obama clarified her response, adding, "Where I am right now is that anybody who feels the passion to get in this race, we need them in there."

"I hope we have a lot of great candidates who get in there and treat each other respectfully," she said. "That’s the thing I’m going to be looking for personally."

"I don’t want people on either party tearing each other up in the process of getting to the nomination," Obama added. "I’m going to be looking closely at who handles themselves and each other with dignity and respect so that by the time people get to the general people aren’t beat up and battered."

Having written about the gracious advice former First Lady Laura Bush offered to her in 2008, Michelle made a similar gesture to Melania Trump.

But, did Melania ever ask for any insight or advice for handling the position of First Lady?

Michelle also expressed gratitude for the support former First Children gave to Malia and Sasha.

"We feel somehow that our stories don’t matter and that’s because we hear so few stories. The stories of what it means to be human, what it means to be American, those stories are limited," she said. "I want people to be as proud of their stories as I am of mine because I believe my story is a quintessential American story, as is all of our stories."

Michelle Obama's Memoir Has November 18 Release Date

Former First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted the news today that her upcoming memoir, to be titled Becoming, will be released on November 13, 2018.

“Writing BECOMING been a deeply personal experience,” she wrote via Twitter. “It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life. In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story.”

It was announced last year that both Michelle and President Obama had signed a joint agreement with Penguin Random House for both of their proposed memoirs.

TIME reported that the dual memoir package could be worth in excess of $60 million.

Presidential memoirs have historically racked up big fees and book sales.

Former president Bill Clinton's memoir “My Life” was reportedly sold for more than $10 million.

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton's “Living History” drew an $8 million advance.

And when it comes to book sales, Barack Obama has a proven track record. His three previous books — “Dreams From My Father,” “The Audacity of Hope” and “Of Thee I Sing” — have sales in excess of four million copies.

President Obama and Mrs. Obama have issued the following statement regarding the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein:

"Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture - including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect - so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future."

Michelle Obama Slams Trump: "This Is Not How Any President Should Behave"

First Lady Michelle Obama, campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton this morning, took Republican Donald Trump to task regarding the recent revelations and accusations of sexual assault without naming him.

Stumping for Hillary Clinton today, first lady Michelle Obama said the revelations over the last week about Trump’s treatment of women have “shaken me to my core” and called on voters not to dismiss the incident as “just another day’s headlines.”

“Last week we saw this candidate actually bragging about sexually assaulting women. I can’t believe I’m saying that a candidate for president of the United States has bragged about sexually assaulting women. I have to tell you that I — I can’t stop thinking about this. It has shaken me to my core in a way that I couldn’t have predicted,” Obama said at a Clinton campaign event at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.

Growing emotional at times, the first lady urged Americans not to ignore Trump’s comments from a 2005 “Access Hollywood” interview.

“This is not something that we can ignore. It’s not something we can just sweep under the rug as just another disturbing footnote in a sad election season, because this was not just a lewd conversation,” she continued. “This wasn’t locker room banter.”

Ellen DeGeneres and First Lady Michelle Obama needs their own sitcom.

In preparation of Michelle's impending departure from the White House, Ellen sought to reintroduce the First Lady to the wonderful world of CVS shopping, but thing go awry when Ellen gets out of hand.

The two (mostly Ellen, really) wreaked havoc around the CVS. They rummaged through magazines, bought Sasha Obama headphones and tried to give store employees back scratches. One lucky customer also got to teach Obama everything she needs to know about boxed wine.

“You are really not a good person to shop with,” Obama eventually told DeGeneres before she tried to sign a woman’s baby. “You know you’re really annoying,” Obama said. “It’s like taking a 3-year-old to the store.”

Ok, so I was pretty much knocked out by New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker's Democratic National Convention speech last night.

My thinking was "No way anyone will top that." And with First Lady Michelle Obama coming up next, even though I really like her, she's not previously been known for her soaring oratory.

And then I was proven wrong.

This was the speech of the night. Raising her voice with passion and clarity without being shrill, she evoked the responsibilities inherent in leading the country.

First Lady Michelle Obama brings it as she joins The Late Late Show's James Corden for a sassy serving of "carpool karaoke" cruising around the White House last night.

Stevie Wonder’s “Signed Sealed Delivered,” Beyoncé’s”Single Ladies” were on the song list, and even Missy Elliott dropped in for some “This Is For My Girls.”

The First Lady shares that this is only the second time that she's ridden in the front passenger seat since her husband became president.  Apparently, the other time was when daughter Malia was learning to drive in 2014.
