Lindsey Graham Calls Four Freshman Congresswomen "Anti-American" & "Communists"

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went to bat for Donald Trump this morning during an appearance on Fox & Friends as he called "the squad," a group of four freshman progressive Democratic lawmakers, "a bunch of communists...anti-American."

“We all know AOC and this crowd are a bunch of communists. They hate Israel, they hate our own country. They’re calling the guards along our border, Border Patrol agents concentration camp guards. They accuse people supporting Israel of doing it for the Benjamins.”

“They’re anti-Semitic. They’re anti-America. Don’t get down, aim higher. We don’t need to know anything about them personally. Talk about their policies. Their policies will destroy this country.”

Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) is the only Republican member of the House to denounce Trump's racist tweets at this time.

Trump continued his attacks on the four Democrats Monday morning saying they should "apologize" for the "foul language they have used."

Gee, project much...?

Sen. Lindsey Graham: "Sanction The Hell" Out Of Saudi Arabia

During an appearance on Fox & Friends this morning, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham promised never to work with Saudi Arabia again as long as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (often referred to as MBS) is in charge of the country.
Sen. Lindsey Graham

As the scandal revolving around the disappearance and death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi continues to grow, some former supporters of Saudi Arabia are feeling like they've been played.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends this morning, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham promised never to work with Saudi Arabia again as long as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (often referred to as MBS) is in charge of the country.

Graham made a point to say how often he's defended the country on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Graham also said he intends to “sanction the hell” out of Saudi Arabia.

“This guy has got to go. Saudi Arabia, if you’re listening, there are a lot of good people you can choose, but MBS has tainted your country and tainted himself,” Graham told the TV audience.

“I can never do business with Saudi Arabia again until we get this behind us,” Graham announced. “That means I’m not going back to Saudi Arabia as long as this guy is in charge.”

This is all while Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is currently meeting with Saudi leaders in an effort to get clear on what actually happened to Khashoggi.

Meanwhile, after Donald Trump initially told the press that Saudi Arabia denied any involvement in Khashoggi's death (which poses some questions about the Trumpster 'believing' who he wants to believe), now he's putting some distance between himself and the Saudis tweeting he has "no financial interests" with the country.

But, then there's this...

GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham Tells TMZ: "I'm Not Gay"

Sen. Lindsey Graham (image via screen capture)
For years, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has been the target of rumors alleging the 63-year-old bachelor is secretly gay.

TMZ caught up to the Republican lawmaker at Reagan National Airport on today and asked about a recent tweet from comedian Chelsea Handler that suggested he is gay.

Handler’s tweet read, “If you’re wondering why Republicans took a sick day today, it’s probably because it’s #NationalComingOutDay. Looking at you @LindseyGrahamSC.”

Graham was neither amused nor fazed by the question.

“It’s a free country, you can say what you want to say, I don’t care,” Graham told TMZ. “I don’t think much about what she says at all. If she wants to live her life that way. It’s up to her.”

“To the extent that it matters, I’m not gay,” he quickly added. “Belittling people is not as funny as it used to be - and that’s a good thing.”

I'm not aware that being called gay is "belittling people," but I think that comment says more about Graham than anything else.

This isn’t the first time the talk show host has gone after Graham on the gay rumor. Back in January, she was taken to task for a vulgar tweet suggesting compromising video exists of the senator.

Watch the senator’s reaction below.

Sen. Lindsey Graham Urges Republicans To Rescind Their Endorsements Of Trump

While not one prominent Republican has stepped up to defend Donald Trump's racist "Mexican judge" attacks on Judge Curiel, Sen. Lindsey Graham has had enough.

Graham has withdrawn his endorsement of the Trumpster and is urging other Republicans to do the same:

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, another former primary rival of Mr. Trump’s, urged Republicans who have backed Mr. Trump to rescind their endorsements, citing the remarks about Judge Curiel and Mr. Trump’s expression of doubt on Sunday that a Muslim judge could remain neutral in the same lawsuit, given Mr. Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim noncitizens entering the country.

“This is the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy,” Mr. Graham said. “If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” he added. “There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: "I Cannot In Good Conscience Support Donald Trump"

Donald Trump (L) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R)

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham took to Twitter today to make clear that he is definitely NOT on the Trump train:

It’s hard to believe that in a nation of more than 300 million Americans Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will be our choices for President.

As for me, I absolutely will NOT support Hillary Clinton for President.

Hillary Clinton represents the third term of Barack Obama & our nation cannot afford to continue those failed policies at home or abroad.

I also cannot in good conscience support Donald Trump because I do not believe he is a reliable Republican conservative, do not believe he is a reliable GOP conservative, nor has he displayed the judgment and temperament to serve as Commander in Chief.

Finally, I do not plan to attend the Republican convention in Cleveland this summer.

After the election, regardless of who wins, I'll do everything I can to help new President deal w/ the many challenges facing our nation.

Of course, The Donald wasted no time responding:

"I fully understand why Lindsey Graham cannot support me. If I got beaten as badly as I beat him, and all the other candidates he endorsed, I would not be able to give my support either," he said in a statement.

"Every time I see Lindsey Graham spew hate during interviews I ask why the media never questions how I single handily destroyed his hapless run for President. As a candidate who did not receive 1% in his own state - compared to my victory at nearly 40% with many others in the race - he has zero credibility."

Lindsey Graham: We May Have To Rally Around Ted Cruz

Much to his own dismay, Sen. Lindsey Graham told Charlie Rose of CBS News that Republicans may have to throw their full support to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz if they were to have any chance of denying Donald Trump the Republican nomination for president.

This is especially notable due to Graham's well-known disdain for Cruz.

"Ted Cruz is not my favorite by any means," Graham said in a CBS interview. "But we may be in a position where we have to rally around Ted Cruz as the only way to stop Donald Trump."

Graham, who not too long ago was running against Cruz and Trump for the GOP presidential nomination, said it's still a long shot that Cruz could beat Trump. And the Texas senator isn't exactly the most likable Republican in town.

Whether Cruz or Rubio is able to pick up fresh momentum, Graham said he's preparing for the worst: for Trump to win the GOP presidential nomination, and then to face off with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"Senator, you seem to be saying that Hillary Clinton will beat Donald Trump," said CBS host Charlie Rose.

"No, I'm not [seeming] to say that. I am saying that," Graham said with a weak laugh. "Like a drum."

Sen. Lindsey Graham Jokes "My Party Has Gone Batshit Crazy!"

Speaking at the Washington Press Club Foundation Dinner last night, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham got big laughs for some unexpected remarks.

Saying that Hillary Clinton is about to become president, Graham laid that at the feet of the GOP: “How could that be? My party has gone batshit crazy.”

On the severe dislike that members of the U.S. Senate have for Sen. Ted Cruz: “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you."

Campaign Ad: A Republican Salute To Hillary Clinton

Current GOP nominees praise Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton.

Emphatically.

Oh - of course, this was all before she began to run for prez.

How quickly they turn.

Very effective ad in that it literally uses their own words (Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and Donald Trump) from not long ago.

Homerun.

Donald Trump Reads Sen. Lindsey Graham's Cell Number To Crowd

Speaking at a campaign event in South Carolina today, Donald Trump lashed out at few GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Saying that Graham "doesn't seem as bright as Rick Perry," Trump went on to read to the crowd what appeared to be Graham's personal cell phone number.

Graham recently blasted The Donald for saying John McCain was not a war hero.

Graham's campaign camp responded saying, "Trump continues to show hourly that he is ill-prepared to be commander in chief" and that the "two people most excited about Donald Trump's candidacy are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton."

UPDATE - Graham posted this to his Twitter account this afternoon:

HRC Reminds Us Of Sen. Lindsey Graham's Terrible Record On LGBT Issues

With the announcement of Sen. Lindsey Graham's 2016 bid for president, the Human Rights Campaign would like to remind you of his positions on LGBT issues.

And suffice to say, the news is NOT good. Check it out below.

By the way, I think it bears mentioning that unsubstantiated rumors have swirled for years that Graham may be a closeted gay man. I have no proof that the life-long bachelor is gay, but if so it would be the height of hypocrisy.

Sen. Lindsey Graham To Announce 2016 Bid For Prez Today

Either Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is finally coming out, or he's announcing his run for the 2016 GOP nomination for president this morning.

Graham will bring the number of declared GOP candidates to eight. Rick Perry will make it nine later this week. Still to declare: Scott Wilson, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush.

With the addition of Graham, that will bring the total number of announced GOP candidates to eight.

Still waiting on expected announcements from former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Wilson, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

UPDATE: The AP has this clip from Graham's announcement today. In his announcement, Graham says he has more national security experience than anyone else in the presidential race adding, "And that includes you, Hillary."

He also threw this red meat to the followers, "I'll be a voice for social conservative values without apology or animosity."

Sen. Lindsey Graham: If SCOTUS Rules For Marriage Equality, It Will Be Time To Move Forward

Speaking to Buzzfeed yesterday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted that should the Supreme Court rule in favor of marriage equality, it will be time for the country to move on.

“Things are changing, so at the end of the day, being for traditional marriage without animosity is where I stand. If the Supreme Court rules sometime this year that same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional, then that will be a defining moment in that debate. It will be time for us to move forward as a society.”

Newest #Benghazi Investigation By GOP-led House Shows No Wrongdoing By Obama Administration

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is acting like a child who was just told there is no Santa Claus over the new GOP-led House Benghazi report which cleared the Obama administration of any wrongdoing in its response to the Benghazi attack.

"I think the report is full of crap," Graham said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Even though this is the sixth government report on Benghazi which essentially clears members of the administration, Graham holds fast to the idea that officials in the White House altered the Benghazi talking points after the attack.

During his Sunday appearance on CNN, host Gloria Borger told Graham that the House report concludes that the administration received bad information at first and did not lie.

"That's a bunch of garbage," Graham shot back. "That's a complete bunch of garbage."

While Republicans desperately want to use the Benghazi tragedy against Hillary Clinton in the upcoming 2016 presidential campaign, the latest investigation by the GOP-led House again shows there's no "there" there:

Similar to five other government reports, the one released by the House Intelligence Committee on Friday said that the administration had not intentionally misled the public about what occurred during the attacks in talking points it created for officials to use in television appearances that turned out to be inaccurate.

It also said that no order was given by the military to “stand down” in responding to try to save the four Americans killed in the attacks, a claim that Republicans have made based on the account of a member of the security team in Benghazi that day.

[snip]

“The effort to turn the Benghazi tragedy into a political scandal never had a factual basis,” said David Brock, founder of Correct the Record, a group that defends Mrs. Clinton in the news media, and author of the e-book “The Benghazi Hoax.”

“The Republican committee report should close the case,” he added. “If the scandal persists into 2016, it will only be for partisan reasons.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: "White Men In Male-Only Clubs Are Going To Do Great In My Presidency"

Sen. Lindsey Graham has admitted in an interview to making eye-raising comments last month at a meeting of the Hibernian Society of Charleston.

From a recording made at the meeting which was then anonymously sent to two South Carolina Democrats:

“I’m trying to help you with your tax status. I’m sorry the government’s so f*cked up. If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency.”

Graham said the Hibernian Society encourages speakers "to be earthy, to make fun of yourself, to make fun of them. Then you say something serious and sit down. And if you talk over 20 minutes, they throw something at you."

Sen. Lindsey Graham: We will "all get killed back here" if combat troops aren't sent to fight ISIS

Sen. Lindsey Graham, who seems to support the United States going to war any and everywhere, argues for US combat troops to be sent to the Middle East to fight ISIS.

Speaking today on Fox News Sunday:

"The first thing I want to tell American people, from my point of view, it is our fight, it is not just their fight. I will not let this president suggest to the American people we can outsource or security and this is not about our safety.

"There is no way in hell you can form an army on the ground to go into Syria, to destroy ISIL, without a substantial American component. To destroy ISIL, you have to kill or capture their leaders, take the territory they hold back, cut off the financing, and destroy the capability to regenerate.

"This is a war we’re fighting, not a counter-terrorism operation. This is not Somalia, this is not Yemen. This is a turning point in the war on terror. Our strategy will fail yet again.

"This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed back here at home."

Mind you, Graham has no children to send in harms way. And while he served in the Air Force, he was a Judge Advocate (lawyer), never seeing combat.

Knowing Americans are very weary of war, but horrified by videos of two American journalists being beheaded, politicians are fighting both sides of the "combat troops" quandary.

I think, in terms of public perception (and polls seem to agree with me), that Americans support the idea of air strikes by our forces. But not sure we have the stomach or financial resources to send 10K, 20K, 30K US troops into the Middle East to fight a war that is not currently our own.

Leave your thoughts below. I'd be curious to hear.

Do you want our men and women in uniform sent back to the Middle East?
If so, how do we pay for the costs?
Is America ready for another war that would stretch the national budget at a time when we are just now seeing the effects of a prolonged recovery?
