George Clooney: "Steve Bannon Is A Failed F***ing Screenwriter"

George Clooney, speaking to reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his new film Suburbicon, went off on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.

“Steve Bannon is a failed f—ing screenwriter, and if you’ve ever read [his] screenplay, it’s unbelievable. Now, if he’d somehow managed miraculously to get that thing produced, he’d still be in Hollywood, still making movies and licking my ass to get me to do one of his stupid-ass screenplays.”

“You know, they say I’m out of touch. You want to call me a Hollywood liberal? Come at me. I sold ladies shoes, I sold insurance door to door, I worked at an all-night liquor store, I cut tobacco for a living. I can change the fan belt on my car. I grew up in that world in Kentucky. I know every bit of that world, and I know my friends and what they believe. And I know this is not a moment in our history that we’ll look back and be proud of. So if I’m not standing on the side I believe to be right, I’d be ashamed.”

One of Hollywood's most famous bachelors is off the market!

People.com is reporting that the the Oscar winner, 52, is engaged to British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36, whom he began dating last fall. They've been spotted together in London, New York, Tanzania and the Seychelles.

Apparently it was hard not to notice the giant diamond on Alamuddin's left ring finger when the two met Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber for dinner Thursday in Malibu, Calif.

Born in Beirut, Alamuddin studied at Oxford and NYU and is fluent in three languages.

Sandra Bullock/George Clooney "Gravity" breaks $100 million world-wide in first week

Not only  setting an October record this past weekend at the U.S. box office, “Gravity” crossed the $100 million mark globally on Tuesday.

Directed by Alfonso Cuaron, the popular space drama earned an additional $6.6 million Tuesday in the U.S.– almost unheard of for midweek in October—bringing its domestic total to $68.4 million.

“Gravity’s” overseas take currently stands at $35.8 million.

Apparently, much of the weekend ticket sales (80%) were sold for the 3D version. Usually not my thing, but I'm guessing if that's what's driving this puppy, I should see it the way everyone else is...

The film’s $55.6 million launch over the weekend is apparently a career best for stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.  The previous October record holder was “Paranormal Acitvity 3” with  $52.6 million in 2011.

"Gravity" hits record as best October movie opening ever

In space, no one can hear you scream.

Unless you're George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, in which case a record amount of people heard you scream.

Gravity lifted off this weekend with a soaring $55.5 million, the best October opening ever.

I haven't seen it yet, but plan to.  All I've heard are rave reviews.

And I love both of the movie's stars.

Oh jeez, this jump-started my "slow coffee" wake-up. The movie trailer is not intended for viewing during a quiet morning in bed. I love both actors, but I don't know how I could get through this movie. I think it would scare me to death. Too many issues with being abandoned or trapped... (heart still pounding a bit...)

George Clooney "duets" with Neil Diamond

OUT.com shares this cute video of George Clooney and Neil Diamond.

While attending the Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills last Saturday, the Oscar-winning actor was coaxed by singer Neil Diamond into singing a few bars of his hit "Sweet Caroline."

Clooney, who was honored with the Brass Ring award for his humanitarian efforts, had been assured by Diamond that he wouldn't be put on the spot to sing along. US magazine reports Diamond joking to the crowd, "I promised him that I wouldn't [ask him to sing], but I lied."

Singer or not - watching this reminds me what a good looking guy Clooney is. I know that's redundant to even say, but, damn...

George Clooney arrested outside Sudanese Embassy

From The Advocate: George Clooney and his father Nick are among several men who have been arrested for participating in a staged protest outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington, D.C.

According to a report by the Associated Press the actor and his father were handcuffed and arrested along with U.S. Rep. Jim Moran (Dem.) of Virginia, and NAACP President Ben Jealous, among others. All were placed in a Secret Service van.

The protesters demand immediate action to stop Sudan's president, Omar al-Bashir, from blocking of food and other humanitarian aid, reports USA Today. Authorities had warned the men three times to leave prior to the arrest, but before being taken away Clooney said, "This is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That's all we ask."

George Clooney speak out on behalf of gay marriage

George Clooney tells E!'s Marc Malkin that he'll be playing AFER attorney David Boies in the L.A. production of Dustin Lance Black's '8'.

Clooney's participation was announced in December, but until now it was unclear what role he would be playing.

Said Clooney to Malkin: "I think the world is changing and it's becoming less and less of an issue and I think it shouldn't be long now," Clooney said. "I think younger people are looking at this like, 'Who cares?' I do believe it's generational, much like the civil rights movement. Young people started taking to the streets and things changed. This really is the final leg of the civil rights movement."

Clooney told The Hollywood Reporter in December: “It is astonishing that gay and lesbian Americans are still treated as second-class citizens. I am confident that, very soon, the laws of this nation will reflect the basic truth that gay and lesbian people -- like all human beings -- are born equal in dignity and rights.”

'8' will run one night only at Los Angeles’ Wilshire Ebell Theatre on March 3.
