Ryan Reynolds Hopes To See More Pansexual Deadpool In Upcoming Sequels

Deadpool (image via 20th Century Fox)

Speaking at San Diego’s Comic Con over the weekend, movie star Ryan Reynolds says he would like to see Deadpool's infamous pansexuality explored in future films in the superhero franchise.

"I certainly think that this universe needs to represent and reflect the world in very real ways," Ryan told fans during a Deadpool 2 panel this past weekend. "The great thing about Deadpool is that we're allowed to do things that other superhero movies don't necessarily do."

Without being specific, Reynolds expressed his personal hope that Deadpool's sexuality will be explored more fully in upcoming sequels.

"It's something that I'd love to see more of, certainly through Wade, certainly through this universe," said the 41-year-old Canadian actor.

In addition to the trademark pansexual quips made by the character Deadpool, Deadpool 2 did give us the first superhero LGBT relationship.

Female super sidekicks Yukio and Teenage Negasonic Warhead were featured as a romantic couple in the action flick.

In 2015, director Tim Miller, who helmed the first Deadpool flick, was adamant that the popular anti-hero would be pansexual.

"Pansexual. I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool," he said in an interview with The Guardian at the time.

Pansexual refers to a person who sees no barriers when it comes to sexual partners regardless of their gender or gender identity.

In the comic books, Deadpool is definitely written to be pansexual. And there have been plenty of zippy one-liners alluding to wide-ranging sexual topics, but so far Deadpool’s only physical attraction has been to his girlfriend played by Morena Baccarin in the two Deadpool films.

While superhero movies have lagged in developing LGBTQ characters, there has been a lot more progress when it comes to superheroes on TV, especially in the DC universe.

It was just announced that transgender actress/activist Nicole Maines has been confirmed to play the first trans superhero “Dreamer” in the Supergirl TV series.

And producer Greg Berlanti recently shared he’s developing a new series for The CW for openly lesbian superhero, “Batwoman.”

DC's Legends Of Tomorrow featured two gay superheroes on a parallel world, “Citizen Cold” and “The Ray,” in a recent crossover event played by out actors Wentworth Miller and Russell Tovey.

Trailer: "Deadpool 2"

Deadpool (L) and Colossus (R) in "Deadpool 2"
One of the things I love about Deadpool (and all things related) is that most folks don't know who in hell this "superhero" is.

But Ryan Reynolds and the team behind the films have created this perfect force you kinda can't resist.

So irreverent, so sassy. That's our Deadpool.

And the upcoming sequel features not only a bisexual character, Shatterstar, but a lesbian couple.

X-man Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hildebrand) introduces us to her girlfriend and fellow mutant Yukio (played by Shioli Kutsuna).

More heroes! More diversity!

Check out the new trailer for Deadpool 2 in theaters today, May 18.

Ryan Reynolds Is The Rainbow Unicorn We've Been Waiting For

We always knew Ryan Reynold was the rainbow unicorn we’ve been waiting for all our lives.

And now we have proof.

The Deadpool star recently appeared on the South Korean reality competition King of Mask Singer which challenges contestants wearing silly, absurd costumes (like a rainbow unicorn for example) to try and win the judges votes.

As part of his promo tour for the upcoming Deadpool 2, Reynolds belted out his rendition of “Tomorrow” from the Broadway classic musical Annie while the judges and audience were stupefied over who could possibly be the man-behind-the-mask.

Watch hottie Ryan’s performance here:

Celine Dion & Deadpool Team-Up In New Music Video For DEADPOOL 2 Soundtrack

Pop superstar Celine Dion has recorded an original track, "Ashes," for the upcoming Deadpool 2 soundtrack and it's pretty much just what you'd want from the parties involved.

Celine sings her face off (no surprise there) and then, there's Deadpool himself who feels so moved by the song that he contributes an interpretive dance in high heels to the music video.

Over a million views in just a few hours, this is pretty terrific.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters May 15.

Ryan Reynolds Bares Naked Super Butt In DEADPOOL 2 Teaser

A new teaser for the upcoming Deadpool 2, featuring a little bare butt action from star Ryan Reynolds, scored over 12 million views in one day.

In the clip, Reynolds comes across a mugging and leaps into action as super-anti-hero "Deadpool." Well, at least he leaps into a telephone booth to change into his trademark red super-suit.

But it's not as easy as we've always been led to believe: even accompanied by that famous Superman movie theme music, Reynolds gets a bit hung up. Along we the way we get some bare backside visuals as he leans against the side of the booth trying to keep his balance.

Alas, timing is everything, and not always in a good way. As the vid plays out, Reynolds talks some smack about Hugh Jackman's accent (the tease played at this weekend's showings of Logan), and a few other super-hero references.

Check out the clip below.
