Steve Bannon Out As White House Chief Strategist

UPDATE: As predicted, Bannon has already returned to the alt-right news site, Breitbart. He told Bloomberg Businessweek that he plans to fight for Trump “against his opponents ― on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America.”

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war,” he added.

The New York Times is reporting that Donald Trump has made the decision to remove right-wing nationalist Steve Bannon from his role as White House chief strategist.

The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time.

As of Friday morning, the two men were still discussing Mr. Bannon’s future, the officials said. A person close to Mr. Bannon insisted the parting of ways was his idea, and that he had submitted his resignation to the president on Aug. 7, to be announced at the start of this week, but the move was delayed after the racial unrest in Charlottesville, Va.

Mr. Bannon had clashed for months with other senior West Wing advisers and members of the president’s family.

For months, there have been reports from behind-the-scenes that the West Wing has endured endless friction between Bannon and his White House colleagues.

In addition to bad mouthing other White House staff, his image on the cover of Time Magazine and rumors of being the "shadow president" didn't do him any favors in Trump's eyes.

Also, on August 16, Bannon gave a self-initiated interview to The American Prospect where he downplayed the idea that Trump would ever resort to a full-on military response to North Korea, saying, “Until somebody solves the part of the equation that shows me that 10 million people in Seoul don’t die in the first 30 minutes from conventional weapons, I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s no military solution here, they got us.”

Expect to see some positive "spin" that attempts to send him out into the private sector continuing as a Trump advocate.
