The latest Elon University Poll shows Democrat Hillary Clinton has surged to a 5.5-point lead over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
A week ago the race for president in the Tar Heel State was statistically tied.
The survey shows Clinton with 44.5% support versus 39% for Trump. Libertarian Gary Johnson still down in single digits with 9%.
The poll found 64% of likely voters in North Carolina who watched the debate felt Clinton came out on top.
