President Obama visited Jimmy Fallon last night on The Tonight Show where he chatted on the end of the primary season, Hillary Clinton's historic candidacy and some light moments about The Donald.
At one point, Fallon asks Obama if he thinks the Republicans are happy with their candidate. Obama responded, “We are … I don’t know how they’re feeling.”
Speaking a little more seriously, Obama opined that what has happened this year in the Republican Party “is not actually good for the country as a whole. It’s not something Democrats should wish for.”
“You want the Republican nominee to be somebody who could do the job if they win. And you want folks who understand the issues. And where you can sit across the table from them and you have a principled argument. And ultimately can still move the country forward.”
"At the end of the day, what you want is a healthy two-party system,” Obama said.
