Dr. Ben Carson: Being Gay Is A Choice Because "Prison"

Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson says, during an interview on CNN with Chris Cuomo, said that being gay is a choice because folks have sex in prison.

This isn't the first time the potential GOP candidate for president has gotten in trouble regarding the issue of homosexuality.

Carson made waves in 2013 when he compared gay marriage to pedophilia and bestiality in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“It’s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what they are. They don’t get to change the definition.”

According to the American Psychological Association, "there is no consensus among scientists" on how a person's sexual orientation is developed.

"Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors," the APA says. "Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation."
