I'll go ahead and make a few Tony Award predictions, but who knows? I don't have educated guesses in every category, so I'll only post where I have an opinion.
(Print a full ballot of nominees and make your own predictions by heading over to the official Tony Awards website).
These are not exactly who I think SHOULD win, but who I think WILL go home with the Tony tonight:
• Best Musical: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder
• Best Play: All The Way
• Best Revival of a Musical: Hedwig and the Angry Inch
• Best Revival of a Play: The Glass Menagerie
• Best Actor in a Musical: Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig and the Angry Inch)
(Jefferson Mays of Gentlemen's Guide and Ramin Karimloo of Les Miserables gave brilliant performances that would have won in another season).
• Best Actress in a Musical: Jessie Mueller (Beautiful - the Carole King Musical)
• Best Actor in a Play: Bryan Cranston (All The Way)
• Best Actress in a Play: Cherry Jones (The Glass Menagerie)
(This will be a toss-up due to an extremely terrific season of talent - could easily go to Audra McDonald or Tyne Daly)
• Best Original Score: Jason Robert Brown (Bridges of Madison County)
• Best Featured Actor in a Play: Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night)
• Best Featured Actress in a Musical: Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch)
• Best Mid-Season replacement: Vanessa Williams (After Midnight)
(OK, I made that category up - but she'd win if it were so)
