Playbill is reporting that "True Blood" star Stephen Moyer will join Grammy winner Carrie Underwood in NBC's live three-hour broadcast of The Sound of Music, which will air in December.
Moyer, who I recently had the privilege of working with in the Hollywood Bowl staging of Chicago, will play Capt. Georg Von Trapp, opposite Underwood as Maria.
While most know Stephen from his TV work, he recently shared with me during the Hollywood Bowl that before TV, he worked extensively in the theater for many years in the UK.
The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will be broadcast Dec. 5.
NBC is partnering with the "Smash" producing team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron for "The Sound of Music."
