Mitt Romney won't release his tax returns - why?
In an interview with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Mitt Romney was pressed on his stated refusal to release his tax returns. Romney said if he becomes president he’ll “consider that.”
*************************************
Mitchell: But, if you were president, it's not that hard to make a commitment that if you're elected President of the United States, that you would release the tax returns, every president does.
Romney: You know, if I become president, then I'll consider that. It's a little premature for me to be talking about that at this stage.
Mitchell: Is there some secret? People know you're wealthy.
Romney: Yeah, I understand.
Mitchell: There's nothing to hide?
Romney: No, I agree. (Pause) There's nothing to hide.

UPDATE: In a related story, Mitt Romney’s son, Matt Romney, suggested on Thursday that President Obama should release his birth certificate and grades before his father releases his tax returns.
“He’s certainly not afraid of anything, he’s not hiding anything,” he said of his father in a video recorded by a Patch reporter in New Hampshire. “But I heard someone suggest the other day that as soon as President Obama releases his grades and birth certificate and sort of a long list of things, that maybe he’d do that.”
Again with this? Back to the Birther conspiracy thing? Sad.
