Trump: On being anti-gay and long putters

Donald Trump likes to say he "likes" gays and lesbians but just doesn't believe in our having equal rights.

He recently made a statement to the NY Times declaring himself a “traditionalist,” but comparing same-sex marriage to long golf putters:

TRUMP: "It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist."

So somewhere in there, he doesn't want gays to have marriage equality because we have long "putters?" Kind of Freudian something-or-other in that.

I'm also not so convinced he has "so many fabulous friends" who 'happen' to be gay. And if he ever did, I'd love to know how many he still has after his "traditionalist" view of "long putters."
