Perez Hilton: No Dance Classes For My Son Because It "Might Make Him Gay"

Gay gossip guy Perez Hilton felt the need to respond to criticism after making homophobic comments that he made last week.

The 40-year-old blogger shared on his podcast last week that he wouldn’t be enrolling his 5-year-old son, Mario, in dance classes because most young boys who dance “end up being gay.” If he had his way, he’d prefer if his son was straight.

“I don’t think that’s a homophobic thing to say,” added Hilton, who’s said for years he was born gay. “Just like I don’t think it’s a homophobic thing to say that a disproportionate amount of male [actors] on Broadway are gay. There are more gay men drawn to that profession… That’s just a fact.”

“I think dance class might help make your son gay. Even though I believe I was born gay, I can reconcile having said that.”

Perez also asserts that he would go back and choose to be straight if he could.

“As a gay man, I’m not ashamed to be gay… but if I could go back in time and, when I was 18, be given a choice, I would have chosen then to be heterosexual… Being a gay man [around the world] is still a harder road to travel on.”

Perez did make a point to say he’d support Mario regardless of his sexuality: “If my son turns out to be gay, or if he’s already gay but not able to articulate that yet because he’s only 5, I will love my son unconditionally and support him. If my son is transgender, I will love him and support him unconditionally.”

I don't think there's any logical route where you can say you're born gay and then turn around and believe dance classes can make you gay.

That makes as much sense as thinking eating Mexican food will help you learn Spanish.

I think you see a lot of gay men in the arts because they're just drawn to that world. And I know plenty of straight men who are dancers and actors on Broadway.

Perez needs to "reconcile" a bit more of his own internalized homophobia. This is definitely not a message young LGBTs or their parents need to hear.

This chilling short film, American Male, from director Michael Rohrbaugh explores the inner monologue of one hyper-masculine frat bro that becomes an unrelenting stream of consciousness afraid of any social perceptions that are less than masculine identifiers.

Steroids, working out, practicing beer pong, chugging beer and more become the daily routine in an effort to avoid any possible personality traits that could be perceived as gay or feminine.

The film's off-screen narration consists entirely of the rules of the masculine road:

“Order beer. Not wine. And beef, not chicken. Never light beer, though. And tofu. Can’t get more gay than tofu.”

"At a young age, I began to closely observe the people around me. The way they talked, the way they walked, what they said, where it got them. Now, I am no longer a person, but a set of social cues."

The film was a winner in MTV's Look Different Creator Competition, which invited emerging filmmakers to create groundbreaking videos on the topic of privilege.

Robert Oscar Lopez Hates Every Gay Dad

Anti-gay homocon Robert Oscar Lopez goes completely "screaming mimi" today writing on his personal blog about the recent dust-up between Elton John and Dolce & Gabbana.

"The completely petulant and histrionic response from gay parents like Ryan Murphy to Dolce & Gabbana's comments can give average Americans a small taste of what children in such homes will have to deal with. You can't be a good parent and want to have absolute control over what your kids think and feel, in addition to what the whole world thinks and feels about you and your kids. It's a recipe for emotional abuse of whoever is under your power.

"Look at the punitive urge, the lust for vengeance, the despotism. That is what I see in Ricky Martin, Jeremy Hooper, Ryan Murphy, and Elton John.

"These are men who will terrorize human beings if they can, if they are within their striking distance. They acquired children the way they get everything they want in all aspects of their lives: through economic leverage, intimidation, and sheer arrogance.

"Imagine being a helpless and confused child longing for a mom, and being under the power of a dad who throws out clothing and calls for all-out destruction of anyone who hints that you have lost something by being denied a mom.

"Imagine not one such man lording over you, but two. This is horrible. These people are disgusting."

He's practically frothing at the mouth by the end of it all.

And by the way - "through economic leverage, intimidation, and sheer arrogance?" Sounds like Congressional Republicans to me...

All this from a gay man who:

• Petitioned the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to stop gay marriage in Texas

• Filed an anti-gay amicus brief in support of Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage

• Testified against LGBT equality before several state legislatures

• Co-signed an anti-gay brief to the Supreme Court in support of DOMA.
