Trump's Golf Habit Has Cost Taxpayers Over $106,000,000

Donald Trump, who endlessly mocked President Obama for taking time to play golf while in office, has now cost the American taxpayers more than $106,000,000 in support of his golf hobby.

Note - Trump initially announced his ban of transgender military service members because their healthcare was too costly at a price of around $8 million.

His golf habit has cost 13 times that in only two and a half years. Follow the costs to the American taxpayer at TrumpGolfCount.com.

Trump's Golf Habit Has Now Cost US Taxpayers Over $102 Million

Donald Trump

We all remember Donald Trump's campaign promise to never play golf if he were to be elected president.

Back in 2016, he repeatedly said he wouldn't have time to play golf. In fact, he told voters he would probably never leave the White House because he'd be so busy working for the American people.

“I love golf, but if I were in the White House, I don’t think I’d ever see Turnberry again. I don’t think I’d ever see Doral again,” he told supporters at a rally in February 2016. “I don’t ever think I’d see anything. I just want to stay in the White House and work my ass off.”

And yet,... it didn't really turn out that way.

Wednesday is the 853rd day of the Trump presidency, and the Donald has spent 174 of them at one of his own golf courses, according to Huffpost.

By Obama’s 853rd day in office, he had spent 70 days at a golf course. Huffpost reports of those golf days were at courses on military bases: Joint Base Andrews or Fort Belvoir, both in suburban Washington a short motorcade ride from the White House.

Huffpost crunched the numbers and the Donald's golf habit has cost U.S. taxpayers over $102 million in extra travel and security expenses.

And next month, his hobby will pass a new milestone: a seven-figure presidential visit to another country so he can play at his own course.

U.S. taxpayers have spent $81 million for the president’s two dozen trips to Florida, according to a HuffPost analysis. They spent $17 million for his 15 trips to New Jersey, another $1 million so he could visit his resort in Los Angeles and at least $3 million for his two days in Scotland last summer ― $1.3 million of which went just for rental cars for the massive entourage that accompanies a president abroad.

While Trump criticized President Obama for playing golf during his administration, Trump's time on the links is more than double Obama's when compared to this point in each presidency.

According to Huffpost, that $102 million spent on Trump’s presidential golfing so far is:

• 255 times the annual presidential salary he volunteered not to take

• More than three times the cost of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation that Trump complains about

• Would fund six years of the Special Olympics program that Trump’s recently proposed budget had originally cut to save money

Donald Trump Moans About Russian Election Investigation Costs Which Are Less Than His Golf Trips

Donald Trump is very concerned about the cost of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian investigation even though his golf trips cost more
Donald Trump

Donald Trump has suddenly become very concerned about the cost and expense of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in our elections here in the U.S.

The Trumpster took to Twitter today to moan yet again calling the investigation a "very expensive Witch Hunt Hoax."

It was reported by several news outlets yesterday that Mueller's efforts have thus far cost the government about $16.7 million.

Citing the federal government's $4.1 trillion budget for fiscal 2018, the Washington Post puts these numbers in perspective like this: spending $16.7 million of $4.1 trillion is like making $50,000 a year and spending 20 cents.

However...

The conservative group Judicial Watch told the Associated Press that each of Trump's trips to Mar-a-Lago cost about $1 million, including only Air Force One travel and Secret Service protection.

Trump has been to Mar-a-Lago 17 times, for a grand total of $17 million in flight and protection costs.

Wait.

That's, like, more than has been spent on Mueller's investigation into protecting American elections from Russian interference!

And that doesn't include his trips to Just to his club in Bedminster, N.J., costs more than $40,000 in travel time (9 times he's been there). Or to his golf club in Sterling, Virginia - 31 visits there.

Now, which is more important - protecting our democratic processes or Trump getting on his own golf courses so he can cheat at golf again?

If Trump is sooooo concerned about expenses, how about he cut back on his illegitimate golf games?

Donald Trump Spends His 111th Day On Golf Course Since Taking Office

Donald Trump is spending his Sunday at his Virginia golf property.

This marks his 111 day on a golf course since taking the oath of office.

Note - I wouldn't care about how much a this president plays golf if it weren't for the hypocrisy this demonstrates after the Trumpster criticized President Obama continually for hitting the links during his administration.

The Donald also promised his followers during the campaign he'd never leave the White House to play golf because there would be so much to do.

So much for that...

NBC News reports that President Trump is at his Florida golf club this morning, marking his 104th day at a Trump golf property since taking office.

Donald Trump Spends His 100th Day At A Trump Golf Property

Well, we certainly can't let this auspicious occasion go unnoticed.

President Trump is at his Florida golf club this morning, marking his 100th day at a Trump golf property since taking office.

In just over a year, 100 rounds of golf. Wow.

The funny thing is, though, Trump spent years taunting President Obama for daring to play a round of golf.

Since taking office, Trump's time on the golf course has well-eclipsed Obama's tee time.

Donald Trump Observes MLK Day

As America observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an occasion Donald Trump says should be observed by doing acts of community service, the Trumpster arrived at his golf course for the third day in a row.

This is his 94th day as president at one of his golf courses.

By the way, "Donald Trump's racism" is currently trending on Twitter. This is not normal.

White House: Trump's Round Of Golf Are "Relationship Building" Time To Further His Agenda

Even though he's played more golf in his first year than any other president, it's the White House spin that Donald Trump's time on the golf course has been valuable for "relationship building."

Reporter: “Can you tell me the biggest single thing the president has accomplished for the American people during his time on the golf course?”

Sarah Sanders: “Developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress”

I wonder how long it took the geniuses in the press office to think that up?

According to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, it's really only the press that has an issue with his 91 golf trips.

When asked about the transparency issue of non-confirmation of rounds of golf, Sanders pivoted back to the predictable claim that Trump enjoyed one of the “most successful first years in office” of any president.

I'm guessing that's kinda like "passing the most legislation" since Truman lie?

Watch below.

Donald "Back To Work" Trump Spends 7th Consecutive Day Playing Golf

Just before 9am this morning, Donald Trump arrived at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, for his 7th consecutive day playing golf.

This marks his 91st day at a golf course since taking offuce.

You may recall Trump tweeted to the world Christmas night he would be getting "back to work" the next morning.

Before becoming president, Trump promised his followers there would be "no time" for golf if he won the election. In fact, he said he'd practically never leave the White House.

And he wonders why folks call him a liar...? Let's go to the video tape.

Donald "Back To Work" Trump Spends 5th Consecutive Day On Golf Course

Donald Trump, who tweeted Christmas night that he would get "back to work" the next morning, is spending his 5th consecutive day playing golf.

This is his 89th day at a golf course since taking office.

Donald "Back To Work" Trump Golfs For 4th Day In A Row

I couldn't possibly report this news better than the folks at Mediaite:

After President Donald Trump successfully saved Christmas, he triumphantly tweeted that he would be getting back to work the very next day, pulling up his bootstraps to make America great again “faster than anyone anticipated.”

Imagine everyone’s surprise when he showed up at the golf course the very next day to play a “quick” round. Now, imagine everyone’s surprise when he did this again the very next day, and, well, even the day after that.

Surely, the world thought, he could not golf for a fourth day in a row. Not even the most retired dads in the most retired parts of Florida can muster up four days in a row. That’s madness!

You know, the only reason I give a shit about the Trumpster golfing is he took President Obama to task so often for playing himself. In fact, he's played more than 50% the amount of golf Obama did in his first year.

Here's just one example:

The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

Trump Tweets: I'll Play Golf (Quickly) Before Getting To Work Today

Donald Trump

It looks like Donald Trump is getting a bit defensive about the inordinate amount of golf he plays.

In an early morning tweet today, the Donald wrote,"After Turkey call I will be heading over to Trump National Golf Club, Jupiter, to play golf (quickly) with Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson. Then back to Mar-a-Lago for talks on bringing even more jobs and companies back to the USA!"

Today is the third day in row that Trump has spent on the golf course and his 101st at a Trump property since taking office.

You'll note that Trump also gets a mention in for his golf club there.

As I've said many times before, I have no problem with a president playing golf.

But Trump was extremely critical of Barack Obama for playing golf during his administration. He also made a point to say there would "be no time for golf" during his time in the White House as he would be so busy fixing the country.

All of that makes him fair game to note his current golf activities.

Here's just a handful of examples of Trump's critical golf tweets:

Trump Announces Full Day Of "Meetings And Working The Phones;" Soon After Arrives At Trump Golf Course

Donald Trump hates for people to think he plays golf instead of working as our president.

The fact of the matter is Trump has now spent 77 days since taking office playing golf.

Which explains why there was a little waffling on Trump's schedule for today per the White House.

At 6:51AM, the White House staff told the press pool that this would be a "low-key" day.

But just minutes later, clearly Trump didn't like the message that sent, the WH staff corrected that statement saying "the press" would have a low-key day, but the Trumpster would have a "full schedule of meetings and phone calls."

Trump even tweeted it out for the world to see.

But at 9:26AM Trump arrived at Trump International Golf Club in Florida to play golf.

As I've said before, I wouldn't have a problem with a president playing golf occasionally.

But Trump spent much of the past 8 years criticizing President Obama for playing golf EVER.

And, on the campaign trail, Trump often told his followers there wouldn't be time for golf because he'd be so busy working on behalf of the American people.

Hypocrisy is so confusing, isn't it?

The Washington Post has composed this handy-dandy graphic showing when and where Trump visited his properties and golf courses.

Today Is Trump's 73rd Day At Golf Course As President

MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, noting Donald Trump's schedule today: "This is his 73rd day at a golf club, 93rd day at a Trump property as president."

Remember when Trump said he wouldn't have any time for golf?

No? Let's take a little trip on the way-back machine, shall we? Watch this medley of Trump's "greatest hits" when he promised he'd never leave the White House.

Donald Trump's 72nd Day At A Golf Course

Kyle Griffin, a producer for MSNBC's The Last Word, keeps a running tally of Donald Trump's golf days.

Today's report: "Per pool, Trump has arrived at Trump Nat'l Golf Club in VA. This is his 72nd day at a golf club, 92nd day at a Trump property as president."

I realize a lot of folks may not care about Trump golfing, but given his voluminous tweets raging about President Obama playing golf during his 8 years as prez, it's interesting to note the hypocrisy.

In addition to railing about golf, citizen Trump also ranted about Obama going anywhere. As a candidate, Trump told his followers he'd probably never leave the White House because there was too much work to do.

Trump Covers NEWSWEEK: "Lazy Boy"

From the Newsweek article:

Now that he’s president, Trump frequently departs the White House and spends the weekend golfing at either his South Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, or his country club in the New Jersey suburb of Bedminster. The promise he’d made a year before was discarded so quickly, you have to wonder if he even remembers making it. Politico did the legwork: George W. Bush didn’t golf for the first five months of his presidency, while Obama stayed away from his beloved links for four months following his inauguration. Trump held out for all of two weeks. He has visited a golf club 40 times since taking office in January, according to the self-explanatory site Trump Golf Count, which estimates the forays have cost American taxpayers $55 million. Another Trump tracker, this one by The New York Times, finds that his visits to Trump-branded properties total 56 days, nearly a third of his time in office.

For those who think the "Trump Golf Count" is mean-spirited, I'll just say had Trump not harangued Obama about golfing for years, and then turned to the golf course so incessantly himself in an amazing feat of hypocrisy, no one would care.

You get what you put out.

Donald Trump Spends 43rd Day At Golf Course As President

While Donald Trump is working hard tapping on his Twitter feed, he has found the time to make his 58th visit to a Trump property, and his 43rd trip to a golf course as president.

Remember the old days - when Trump abhorred presidents playing golf?

Trump To Spend 3 Weeks Vacationing At His New Jersey Golf Club

Just this past Wednesday, President Trump told Republican Senators that health care reform is so important, "We have to stay here. We shouldn't leave town, and we should hammer this out and get it done."

Well, "we" somehow didn't include the Trumpster himself.

News outlets are now reporting Trump plans to spend a whopping 3 weeks in Bedminster, New Jersey, beginning August 3rd.

Trump will be staying at his golf resort there (more money for his business, don't you know) after "slaving" for six months as president.

Today was his 41st day at a golf course as president. Just saying...

Of course, some of you might remember this from the 2016 campaign:

And then, there are the tweets condemning President Obama every time he played golf over 8 years. Here's just a sample:

Trump Makes His 19th Trip To Golf Course In Less Than 3 Months As President

President Trump
It's the weekend, which means President Trump is more likely than not on a golf course.

As a matter of fact, Trump has taken 19 trips to a golf course since his inauguration.

Personally, I wouldn't care about Trump's golf habit had it not been such a sticking point for the Trumpster to continually criticize President Obama for playing golf during his presidency.

Additionally, Trump spent many a tweet on ranting about Obama's travel costs to the American taxpayer.

And yet, it's turning out that Trump is the one running up a hefty travel bill being paid by his constituents.

On top of his many trips to his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago, he's making money charging the U.S. Secret Service to follow him.

CBS News reports that Trump has invoiced the Secret Service over $35,185 for golf cart rentals so the agents could keep him safe on the golf course. Those are HIS golf carts he's renting out.

In related news, taxpayers have paid over $190,000 just to provide security for Trump spawns Don Jr. and Eric as they travel the world on business.
