Anti-Gay Republican Rep. Tim Murphy Admits To Adultery

Rep. Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania
Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) - who voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, against the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, against the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and for a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage - admitted on Thursday to having an extramarital affair.

Because hypocrisy.

Via The Hill:

“Last year I became involved in an affair with a personal friend. This is nobody’s fault but my own, and I offer no excuses. To the extent that there should be any blame in this matter, it falls solely upon me," Murphy said in a statement released by his lawyer.

Murphy confirmed the affair after the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was granted a court order to unseal the divorce action of the other couple involved.

While Murphy is not a party in the divorce action, the husband of the woman with whom he was having an affair sought to depose him in July, according to the Post-Gazette.

When That Extramarital Affair Pays Off

Newt and Callista Gingrich

CNN is reporting that Callista Gingrich, wife of former Speaker of the House Newt and serial adulterer Newt Gingrich, is the front runner to become the next ambassador to the Vatican.

According to White House officials, the decision to nominate Gingrich has been made, the only issue left to decide is when to make the official announcement. The only snag at the moment appears to be pending approval from the Office of Government Ethics.

The White House hopes to formally nominate Gingrich as soon as this week.

Gingrich has shared in interviews that she considers herself a devout Catholic, saying she has "always been a very spiritual person."

You may recall that the "very spiritual" Callista Gingrich testified in 1999 during divorce proceedings that she had been having a six year affair with Newt Gingrich while he was married to his second wife, Marianne.

Tennessee "Don't Say Gay" Lawmaker Accused Of Adultery With Second Cousin

File this under "Christian Values Hypocrisy."

Ye who protesteth the loudest, do it the mosteth!

Tennessee state Sen. Joey Hensley, four times married and divorced “Christian family values” crusader, has been named in the divorce filing for a local couple.

According to court documents, both parties in the divorce allege he’s been "having relations" with the wife for three years.

Apparently, having sex with your married second cousin is ok with Jesus, but whatever you do, "don't say gay."

From The Nashville Scene:

Hensley, 61, was subpoenaed to appear last week in Williamson County Circuit Court to testify in the divorce proceedings of Hohenwald Vice Mayor Don Barber and his wife Lori. He refused to show up, citing legislative and medical privilege. “I didn’t have time to do it,” Hensley said when contacted on Friday afternoon. “I had nothing to do with the court case, and any testimony I would have given wouldn’t have made any difference.” But according to the sworn testimony of both Barbers, Hensley has been having an affair with Lori since 2014. Lori, 48, is a part-time nurse in Hensley’s medical practice in Lewis County; she is also his second cousin.

Hensley gained national notoriety in 2012 as a sponsor of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which would have banned public school teachers from even mentioning that homosexuality exists. During one hearing that year, Hensley commented, “I don’t think Modern Family is appropriate for children to watch” — because it features a married gay couple raising children. This session, Hensley is sponsoring a bill from the Tennessee Family Action Council that would make children created using donor sperm illegitimate — an attempt to make it harder for gay and lesbian parents to establish paternity. He is also a sponsor of the so-called “Milo Bill,” aimed at liberal practices on college campuses.

But Lori Barber is not just a friend or a cousin or a lover — she is also Hensley’s patient. Barber testified in court that Hensley is her only doctor other than a cardiologist, and that she relies on him for recurrent Botox injections. She also said he has regularly prescribed her the hydrocodone pill Lortab — a Schedule II controlled substance — for “chronic back pain,” which she said Hensley first diagnosed after she hurt her neck.

Bolding is mine.

Donald Trump On National Enquirer's Allegations Of Adultery By "Lyin'" Ted Cruz

"I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it.

"Likewise, I have nothing to do with the National Enquirer and unlike Lyin’ Ted Cruz I do not surround myself with political hacks and henchman and then pretend total innocence. Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz.

"I look forward to spending the week in Wisconsin, winning the Republican nomination and ultimately the Presidency in order to Make America Great Again."

Dan Savage: Josh Duggar's Hypocritical Past Makes Him Legitimate Target For Outing

Josh Duggar
LGBT activist and sex columnist Dan Savage says that newly outed porn addict Josh Duggar is definitely a legitimate target for outing considering the harm he's caused through his anti-gay campaigns.

Outing someone for their private sexual conduct—even if everyone agrees that it's wrong—is a brutal tactic that should be reserved for brutes. Who's a legitimate target for outing? I'll let Barney Frank explain: "There's a right to privacy," Frank said on Real Time. "But the right to privacy should not be a right to hypocrisy. People who want to demonize other people shouldn't then be able to go home and close the door, and do it themselves."

To which I would add: People who accuse others of trying to destroy their marriages, fundamentalists who who quite literally demonize other people, and who then go back to their apartments in Washington, DC, and cheat on their spouses are political hypocrites and legitimate targets for outing. People like this guy...

Savage also joined Chris Hayes last night to discuss the recent Duggar developments.

Arizona: Attorney General exposed as adulterer after espousing "sanctity of marriage"

Tom Horne - Arizona Attorney General - exposed for adultery

A friend of mine used to say "ye who protesteth the loudest, do it the mostest." And that's exactly what we have here. From JoeMyGod:

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, one of the state's most vocal opponents of same-sex partner rights, has been exposed (by the FBI, no less) as an adulterer.
Tom Horne caused more than $1,000 worth of damage when he clipped another car in a parking garage and just drove off, in order, according to FBI agents, to conceal an affair he was having with his passenger. Phoenix police records obtained Tuesday include detailed witness accounts by FBI agents who were following Horne, Arizona's attorney general, on March 27 as part of a campaign finance investigation. They said they watched him back his borrowed vehicle into a white Range Rover in the parking garage of a Phoenix residential complex. FBI agents said that after the fender-bender, Horne and the woman, since identified as Carmen Chenal, who works for Horne, walked off and entered the residential area of the complex where Chenal lives.
In August, Horne filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Supreme Court, demanding that Arizona be allowed to repeal domestic partners insurance for state employees. In his suit, Horne claimed that rescinding benefits for gay employees would be good for Arizona tourism because doing so "furthers the State’s interest in promoting marriage."

In addition to the investigation into Horne's campaign finances there are charges that the employee he's been adulterously fucking was hired despite having no qualifications for the job.

Indiana: First Baptist Church Pastor Jack Schaap fired for alleged adulterous affair with teenaged girl

So, remembering that most of the rhetoric offered on why gays and lesbians shouldn't have equal marriage rights hinges on what's in the bible, here are a few things that are disconcerting about what plays as the "religious right" these days.

Check out this pastor of a Baptist church in Indiana - who has some choice things to say about the biblical view of men and women - went on to do.

From JoeMyGod: Indiana's First Baptist Church, which is one of the twenty largest megachurches in the nation, has fired head Pastor Jack Schaap for an adulterous affair with the teenaged girl. The church has issued a press release:

"At this time, we deeply regret the need to announce that First Baptist Church has dismissed our pastor, Dr. Jack Schaap, due to a sin that has caused him to forfeit his right to be our pastor. First Baptist Church is in full cooperation with our local authorities in their investigation of this matter. Our church grieves over the need to take this action and the impact it will have on our people."

The Christian Post reports that Schaap may be arrested:

"Lake County Sheriff John Buncich shared with local publication the Times of North West Indiana that a criminal investigation had been launched into the church along with Hyles-Anderson College, although he declined to comment on what specifically they were looking into. "They met with us. They did the right thing," Buncich said of church officials. "They have cooperated fully." A detective involved in the investigation also has reportedly said that there are indeed criminal charges being made, since if the case solely concerned adultery with another woman, the police would not have to get involved."

Friendly Atheist points out that Schaap has written a dating advice book for young Christian girls:

"By all means, keep your weight down to the proper level. Hundreds upon hundreds of times I have had young men tell me that they would date a particular girl in whom they were interested if only she would lose a few pounds. Fix your hair every day. Go to the library, study books on hair care and find new ways to wear your hair. Don’t be afraid to wear modest amounts of make-up. But, be very careful about using excessive eye shadow. Many guys are turned off by dark or colored eye shadow. Don’t be trendy. One of my best friends in college nearly broke up with his future wife because she was the first to wear colored stockings among her peers."

Check out the video above where the Pastor makes clear how he feels about men and women. Nothing out of context here. It goes on for several minutes.

Last issue I'll raise here: recently the First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, refused to allow an African American couple to marry in their church.  What is up with the Baptist church these days?  I don't  know, but things don't seem to be very "biblical" or "Christ-like"lately.
