John Oliver's Book About Mike Pence's "Gay Bunny" Sells Over 180K Copies

John Oliver chats with Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers chatted with John Oliver of HBO's Last Week Tonight about the runaway success of A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo, Oliver’s bestselling book about Vice President Mike Pence’s gay bunny.

Oliver debuted the book at the end of a segment of his show regarding Pence’s homophobic views. Oliver says the project evolved “on the quiet.”

The book has hit #1 on Amazon’s best seller list selling over 180,000 copies leading not only the Pence's bunny book (#4) but also James Comey's upcoming A Higher Loyalty (#2).

Also available is the audio book read by a list of luminaries like Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jim Parsons, RuPaul, Ellie Kemper, and John Lithgow and features a white-haired stink bug character that looks awfully familiar.

You can find the book on Amazon here. All proceeds from the book go to The Trevor Project and AIDS United.

Seth Meyers To Trump: "Ask Your Wife What It's Like To Be Married" To A Loser!

Late Night with Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers addressed the recent news that President Trump attempted to fire Robert Mueller just weeks into the Special Counsel's investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election. According to sources, White House legal counsel Don McGahn threatened to quit if Trump moved forward in firing Mueller.

Meyers was in prime form as he ticked off the latest news from Trump Land.

• “Amazing. Trump is mad that he’s being investigated for obstruction of justice so his plan to get out of it is to obstruct justice. If Trump was the captain of the Titanic, his plan would be to hit a second iceberg.”

• “Why does he keep going out of his way to interfere with the investigation? There are two possible answers.”

“One, he’s guilty. Or two, he asked the FBI director for a pledge of loyalty, he asked him to stop his investigation into Michael Flynn, fired the FBI director, admitted he fired him because of the Russia investigation, bragged to the Russians that he did it because of the Russia investigation, pressured the attorney general not to recuse himself, pressured the heads of the intelligence agencies to intervene and tried to fire the special counsel who took over the Russia investigation…because he’s innocent?”

• Meyers also touched on reports that Trump called Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe (now pushed out of his job) the day James Comey was fired. Trump was angry that Comey flew home to Washington DC on a federal plane.

During the call, Trump “turned on McCabe, suggesting he ask his wife how it feels to be a loser—an apparent reference to a failed campaign for state office in Virginia that McCabe’s wife made in 2015.”

Said Meyers, “You told him to ask his wife what it’s like to be a loser?! You should ask your wife what it’s like to be married to one!”

Seth Meyers On Trump's "Clinically Insane" Press Conference

Seth Meyers is not suffering President Trump lightly after the Donald stunned the country at a Tuesday afternoon press conference asserting that the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, should be blamed on “both sides” — alt-right white supremacists and counter-protesters.

From a segment titled, "Breaking Crazy," the Late Night host went after the Trumpster:

“President Trump gave a press conference this afternoon that can only be described as clinically insane. You know that list of side effects at the end of a pharmaceutical ad? He apparently has all of them.”

"Normally when someone is talking that level of crazy, Batman crashes through the ceiling and punches him."

Seth Meyers Mocks Fawning Fox News Hosts And Trump's Fake TIME Magazine Cover

Late Night with Seth Meyers' "A Closer Look" segment ticks off pretty much every funny thing to laugh about Donald Trump this week.

From fawning Fox News hosts to that now-infamous "fake news" TIME magazine cover that hangs in about 8 Trump golf clubs, plus Trump butt-boy Sean Hannity making sure the world knows about that secret dossier that "talked about Trump, at a Ritz-Carlton, in Moscow, with two prostitutes urinating on his bed.”

Great work there, Sean.

Seth Meyers Takes "A Closer Look" At Trump's Epic Healthcare Fail

On last night's Late Night with Seth Meyers, Meyers took "A Closer Look" at Donald Trump's healthcare fail last week.

Some funny, funny stuff - and all of it based in truth.

It's especially worth watching for the first minute which recaps several instances of Trump on the campaign trail telling voters how easy it will be for him to "make deals" in Washington.

You remember - "Nobody knows the system better than me."

Followed by smirk and a shrug.

Said Meyers: “Look at that face. That’s like the freeze frame of a ’90s sitcom dad at the end of an episode. You almost expect credits to roll.”

Seth Meyers On The North Carolina Republicans' Power Grab

Late Night with Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the political crisis in North Carolina, where Republicans sought to strip power away from the incoming Democratic governor before he takes office.

After Republican Gov. Pat McCrory lost his reelection bid, the GOP controlled North Carolina legislature voted to reduce the new governor's powers drastically. “That’s like losing a bet,” the Late Night host said, “and paying with Monopoly money.”

But hey - it's not all bad. The incoming governor still gets the keys to the mansion and a ballroom!

Seth Meyers: Trump Lies About His Birther Past

Late Night with Seth Meyers takes "A Closer Look" at the Donald Trump/Birther issue.

This is how you handle a someone like Trump.

Take notes Jimmy Fallon.

Seth Meyers Takes "A Closer Look" At Trump's Approach To African-American Voters

Seth Meyers takes "A Closer Look" at Donald Trump's recent outreach to African-American and Latino voters.

Meyers notes that even though Trump has a “well documented history of stoking racial resentment and attracting the support of white nationalists,” the thinking must have been he could “overcome all that by going to a church in Detroit and awkwardly swaying back-and-forth like a dad who brought his kids to a Demi Lovato concert."

Seth Meyers Takes A Closer Look At The NRA Endorsement O Donald Trump

Seth Meyers, host of NBC's "Late Night," takes note of Donald Trump's flip-flop on gun rights over the years in an attempt to pander to the NRA for the organization's coveted endorsement.

From International Business Times:
Meyers noted how before entering the presidential race, Trump previously supported an assault rifle ban and expanded background checks — far from the standard Republican unwillingness to disagree with any part of the NRA platform. However, on the campaign trail Trump has been promising that as president he would be unapologetically anti-gun control.

"Trump's ham-fisted attempts to pander to gun owners were apparently enough to sway the NRA, which announced its endorsement of him Friday," said Meyers. "You might think, 'How can an organization that is devoted to defending second amendment rights back a candidate who has been so inconsistent on that issue?'

Funny: Seth Meyers Takes "A Closer Look" At Possible Presidential Running Mates

Late Night with Seth Meyers takes a closer look at possible prospective vice presidential candidates for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Best line: “John Kasich picking a running mate is like Vin Diesel practicing his Oscars acceptance speech.”

Sarah Palin Gets Schooled On Refugee Vetting Process

Sarah Palin, former half-term governor of Alaska, dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to push her new book and along the way the issue of Syrian refugees came up.

Palin told Meyers and audience that the reason governors across the U.S. are saying "no" to any refugees is because there’s not a vetting process to determine if they are “bad guys infiltrating under the guise of refugee.”

Without blinking or referring to any cue cards, Meyers calmly described the very real vetting process that takes between 18-24 months before refugees are allowed into the country.

Via Yahoo:

“In order for any refugees to come in, it is like an 18- to 24-month process for them to get through,” Meyers said. “It starts at the U.N., and then it comes through multiple government agencies here in the States. Is it maybe just that, at the core, I think there’s just a lack of trust across the board of the federal government? Do you think that’s what these governors are really saying, that ultimately anything the federal government tells them, they don’t trust?”

“Well, I don’t trust what the federal government is telling us,” Palin — who is out promoting her new book, “Sweet Freedom” — replied. “But even you should not trust that the federal government is telling you about the 18- to 24-month vetting process is as legit as perhaps they’re trying to make the public believe, because truly, there is no way to filter out those that would want to do this country harm with the process that we see in place today. And that’s why it’s not just Republican governors but Democrats too who are saying, ‘Wait a minute. Somebody’s got to be the last line of defense here, so the states are taking on that authority.’”

Meyers went on to ask of we can ever truly get to a place where everyone feels absolute safety about vetting all refugees, and Palin quickly did a u-turn agreeing with him.

“If we were to strive to reach absolute safety, we would not have freedom,” Palin said. “If people have the choice here — I mean, we can have both, but we’re all about freedom. That’s a foundation of our country, so we’re not going to give up freedom for that.”

Meyers also addressed the cynicism of assuming all refugees only want to come here to attack us, and that he believed people want to come to the U.S. because they seek the freedoms we all have.

Freedom, Meyers said, is why the refugees “are so desperate to come here.”

“I think this idea that they’re coming here to infiltrate — I think that is fear-based,” he said. “I do think they want to come here and enjoy the same things you and I are lucky enough to enjoy.”

Palin, again, u-turns and agrees with Meyers.

Seth Meyers Takes Down The Memories Pizza GoFundMe Campaign

After a crowd-sourcing campaign raised over $842,000 for an anti-gay pizzeria in Indiana, Seth Meyers knew he couldn't hold his tongue.

And we're the better for it.

Best line: “Seriously, this is the kind of cause people will donate to? You can save rescue dogs, save the rainforest, save the whales, you decide to save the pizza? Or you anti-gay or just stoned?”

Seth Meyers Invites Game Of Thrones' Jon Snow To Dinner Party

Seth Meyers finds out the hard way that inviting Game Of Thrones star Jon Snow to a dinner party might not be the fun and "games" he imagined.

Very funny.
