Ellen Gets "Nick the Gardener" an Audition for Magic Mike Sequel

Upon hearing the news that Matthew McConaughey will not be returning for the Magic Mike sequel, Ellen has a great idea! Nick the Gardener!

So, she gets on the phone to Warner Brothers exec Greg Silverman and hooks "Nick" up with a screen test. You know that Ellen - give, give, give.

Oh, and it's "Laundry Day" at the ELLEN show, so of course she needs him to give him his shirt.  No unnecessary naked action going on here.

"Magic Mike 2" gets 2015 release date

Warner Bros has set a release date of July 3, 2015 for "Magic Mike 2."

This will be a sequel to the original film, directed by Steven Soderbergh and loosely based on Channing Tatum‘s early days as a male stripper, which landed as a surprise hit of 2012.

Financed and produced by Soderbergh and Tatum, the movie was a major score (starring Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello) banking $113.7M at the domestic box office — one of Soderbergh’s most lucrative movies ever.

A Broadway version of the film is now in development as well.

Scene from DALLAS BUYERS CLUB: Complexities in lighting & emotions

Very interesting breakdown of the technical approach to a scene from "Dallas Buyers Club."

Just the details in how Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner are lit, the choices of tight and wide shots, and the arc of the writing with the sharing of secret at the end instead of a full romantic come on.  Things most of us never really think about in film.

Very interesting to listen to and see.

Channing Tatum opening his own MAGIC MIKE revue?

In Touch Magazine is reporting that Channing Tatum has a new project: running a racy theme bar—complete with all-male revues!

In Touch says that the “Magic Mike” star and best friend Keith Kurtz, purchased Saints and Sinners, a brothel-style pub in New Orleans and hope to re-open it in November.

The opening night guest list might even include Channing’s famous stage pals Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello for a reunion that could turn into a live male-review show!

You know what I mean when I say that, right?

Focusing on Alex Pettyfer's character instead of Tatum's love story, the new trailer shows a lot more strip club action -- including a shot of all the guys in their thongs. Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Adam Rodriguez are also seen in the video in various states of undress.

We also get a look at the guy's routines, like Joe's fireman act and Bomer's Ken doll number.

From EW: In honor of Channing Tatum, the star of 21 Jump Street and The Vow whose stint as a stripper inspired Magic Mike (out June 29), this week’s cover does a little striptease of its own. Once you’ve taken in the sight of Tatum looking dapper all by himself, the flaps open to reveal a photo of him with his Magic Mike pals Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello (True Blood), and Matt Bomer (White Collar), all of whom play dancers at a male revue in the R-rated drama, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Magic Mike movie to premiere at LA Film Festival June 24

Steven Soderbergh’s male-stripper flick Magic Mike will premiere as The Los Angeles Film Festival’s closing night selection on June 24th, Entertainment Weekly reports. The stud-studded picture opens in the U.S. nationwide the following Friday.

The film — which stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganielleo, Matthew, McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, and Alex Rodriguez — is expected to draw a large portion of female and gay male moviegoers this summer.

New pics from "Magic Mike" movie

Ken (Matt Bomer), Mike (Channing Tatum), Tito (Adam Rodriguez) and Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello) in "Magic Mike."

So I'm not only counting down to May 4 when Avengers hits theaters, but I'm even more excited about June 29, when Channing Tatum’s bio-pic, Magic Mike, comes out.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic), it follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money. Oh, and everyone takes their clothes off.

Warner Brothers has released  new stills from the flick, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Mangianello, Adam Rodriguez , Olivia Munn and Riley Keough.

Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer show off their ripped physiques in this new still from Magic Mike.

The Steven Soderbergh-directed film will also star Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Alex Pettyfer.

"Hard R" is how Channing Tatum describes the rating of 'Magic Mike' in a recent interview. Tatum — who himself spent eight months as a stripper in his late teens — says the flick "won't be anywhere near" an NC-17 rating.

Nice to see Soderbergh appreciates the iconic "cuffs and collars" look of the most famous ladies night out, Chippendales.

Chippendales experts weigh in on upcoming "Magic Mike" movie cast

So the folks at grantland.com reached out to two experts at The Chippendales - director of operations Kristen Makhatini and lead singer Jaymes Vaughan - to give their expert opinions about the star-studded cast of "Magic Mike" and whether or not the actors have what it takes to make in the Chippendales world.

The consensus seems to be Channing Tatum ("his dancing in his other mainstream movies will hopefully help him come across as more legit as a performer"), Matthew McConaughey ("important thing to keep in mind is that he’s such a fun, free-spirited, goofy party guy; everyone is sort of naturally drawn to everything he does") and Joe Manganiello ("I think it’s perfect casting. He’s not just a shredded guy, but a masculine guy") seem to be dead on with the physical and personality skills needed to succeed.  Interesting to read how those in the industry view these things and what it takes to succeed.  It's not just having a great body - although it's a good start.

I'd love to see the cast of "Magic Mike" make a visit to the Chippendales show at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas for some "research."
