Johnny Depp Has "One Of Those Nights" On The Hollywood Film Awards

Johnny Depp appeared on the Hollywood Film Awards last night to honor Shep Gordon, the subject of Mike Myers’ new documentary, “Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon.”

It looks like Depp had some trouble finding the microphone, which he then seemed confounded by. His speech introducing Gordon then had the audience leaning forward as you didn't know what he was going to say next.

Myers, backstage, said the intro was very "rock and roll," while the Twitterverse was thinking more along the lines of "wasted."

I'm a fan of Depp and his work, and personally I love when these moments are much more "real" than the perfectly banal and scripted intros you usually see on awards shows.

Carol Channing would love for Johnny Depp to play her

When Carol Channing heard that Johnny Depp wants to play her in a film, the 92-year-0ld responded with humor.

Her rep tells RumorFix, “Carol  says she would be honored to have Johnny portray her in a bio-pic. The fact that he is a man, doesn’t phase her at all, she can’t recall having ever seen anyone imitate her who didn’t have five o’clock shadow.”

Johnny made the proclamation during a Q&A session at CinemaCon while promoting Lone Ranger.

Jonathan Frid, of Dark Shadows fame, passes away at 87

From MSNBC: Actor Jonathan Frid, who played imposing and elegant vampire Barnabas Collins on the gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows," has died at 87. Frid passed away on April 14 from natural causes in his native Ontario.

"Dark Shadows" ran from 1966 to 1971, drawing 20 million viewers at its peak. Frid joined the show in 1967 and his character, an elegant vampire recently freed from his chained coffin and returning to his family's estate, Collinwood, quickly became the unquestioned star.

Frid makes a cameo in the big-screen comedy based loosely on the series. That film, which stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas, will be released May 11.

Other famous alumni of the show include Donna McKechnie, Kate Jackson, Abe Vigoda, David Selby and Conrad Bain.

I watched the show as a child and always thought the opening theme music by Robert Corbert was very cool.
