Olivia Newton-John Announces 2016 Extension Of Concert Residency At Flamingo Las Vegas

Near the end of her concert at the Flamingo Las Vegas last night,  pop music icon Olivia Newton-John took a moment to express her gratitude for many things going on in her life; notably her current #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and her extension for a 3rd year at the Flamingo Las Vegas in 2016.

If you haven't seen Olivia in concert in Las Vegas, you really should make the effort. As a fan of over 30 years, I find she sings even better now than she did in the 70s and 80s. Plus, I can count on one hand the number of music icons who have a #1 on the Billboard Dance charts at the age of 67!

Go!

Olivia Newton-John Chat With EXTRA About Life In Las Vegas

Last night, EXTRA chatted with superstar Olivia Newton-John about life in Las Vegas as she headlines on the Strip.

So This Happened Last Night

Me with Sia at the Flamingo Las Vegas

Can you imagine?

Last night, huge pop star Sia attended Olivia Newton-John's sold out "Summer Nights" concert at the Flamingo Las Vegas. And I had the chance to meet her backstage!

I'm a big fan of hers. And she is a BIG fan of Olivia's. So, it all worked out great, huh?

Sia has a "no touring" policy. But that isn't keeping her from getting offers to do so. And apparently huge offers. So, she's recently stated that she might consider touring... IF.

What if? This if: “I don’t care about doing it so I’ll throw the most ludicrous idea out and say say ‘I’ll do a live show if you can get Olivia Newton-John to perform with me’, because that’s my childhood dream."

And so, there she was last night, dancing throughout the concert to all those ONJ hits. And then afterward, she came backstage to meet her idol.

Very, very cool night :)

Las Vegas: Olivia Newton-John Extends Concert Residency Through September 2015

Fans have spoken and Olivia Newton-John is definitely “the one that they want!” Due to the success of her highly popular “Summer Nights” residency, Flamingo Las Vegas has announced that the show will be extended through Sept. 2015. Performing inside the Donny & Marie Showroom, the beloved internationally-renowned singer-actress will continue to take audiences on a musical journey through her life in film and music next year.

“It has been amazing to be able to call Las Vegas home for the past year, and I look forward to performing at Flamingo Las Vegas for another year,” says Olivia. “I am thankful to the fans who have come from all over the world to see the show, as a portion of every ticket sold benefits the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre. In the past year alone we have raised thousands of dollars for the Wellness Programs which help people going through their cancer journey.”

When asked what she's enjoyed about the past year headlining in Las Vegas, Olivia had this to say:

Being in the same bed every night instead of traveling. Having consistency of a wonderful crew. I’ve got my own soundmen, so it’s always the same. I’ve never had a routine before. This time I’m getting picked up, and I go to work and it’s wonderful.

When you’re touring, you’re on a bus, you’re on a plane, and it’s different every day. There’s excitement in that, but it’s much more wearing than being in one place. I like being here, and now I’m here for next year.

It has been amazing to be able to call Las Vegas home for the past year, and I look forward to performing at Flamingo Las Vegas for another year. I am thankful to the fans who have come from all over the world to see the show.

A portion of every ticket sold benefits the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Center. In the past year alone, we have raised thousands of dollars for the Wellness Program, which helps people going through their cancer journey.

Catching up with Leeza Gibbons in Las Vegas

A highlight of this weekend was getting to catch up with FAB Leeza Gibbons and her handsome hubby Steven Fenton.

Leeza and Steven came to Vegas to catch her "Great Walk of China" pal Olivia Newton-John in concert at the Flamingo Las Vegas at her sold-out "Summer Nights" show.

After the show, we all headed over to Chayo (dee-lish) for a birthday celebration for Steve Real, Olivia's vocal coach and backup singer.

I adore Leeza.  She is one of the easiest peeps to sit and talk with.  It's not common in celeb circles but Leeza is one of the few famous folks who listens to you talk.  And she connects and hears what you're saying.

What could be better than Mexican food and catching up with friends on a Friday night in Vegas?

Btw - no official announcement has been made yet, but I internet rumors say Leeza is on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice.  If so, watch her.  She's smart and so good with people, I'd expect her to go far in the game.

Internationally-renowned singer-actress Olivia Newton-John was on hand in Las Vegas today to meet her brand new Madame Tussauds Hollywood wax figure just hours before taking the stage for her wildly-successful “Summer Nights” headlining show at the Flamingo Las Vegas.

In 1978, Olivia Newton-John’s co-starring role with John Travolta in Grease catapulted her into super-stardom and to date remains the most successful movie musical of all time.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood is celebrating the iconic film by welcoming Olivia Newton-John’s wax figure, outfitted as her Grease character "Sandy," into their attraction.

Olivia Newton-John’s wax figure will be making a brief appearance at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas before heading to the Madame Tussauds Hollywood attraction on Aug. 10.

Olivia Newton-John “Summer Nights” at Flamingo Las Vegas is a musical journey through the iconic artist’s illustrious career featuring hits from her early years including “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “Let Me Be There,” “If You Love Me Let Me Know” and “I Honestly Love You,” as well some of her favorites from Grease, “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re The One That I Want,” and of course, “Summer Nights.”

Olivia Newton-John Is Still The One We Want

Queerty just posted my interview with Olivia Newton-John about her new show "Summer Nights" at the Flamingo Las Vegas.

Olivia chats on her new show, her support for marriage equality, and her personal passions for health and wellness.

Here's just a bit:

You were one of the first major celebrities to speak out in support of marriage equality in Australia. Are you surprised at the momentum the marriage equality movement has had in the past few years?

I think it’s fantastic. Not surprised, because I think we’re all becoming more educated and more aware. Just about every family has a gay member, I think. It used to be swept under the carpet, but not anymore. I think that as the awareness grows and the love grows, it will be accepted more and more. We’re very lucky that we have this in the free world. There are those in other countries who can’t be who they are.

Have you ever been concerned about sharing your opinion about important issues like marriage equality, breast cancer awareness or the environment?

I might be a little nervous, but it doesn’t stop me if it’s correct. I’m not really a political person; I don’t affiliate myself with any particular party. But I will get involved with an issue if I feel it’s the right thing to do. I’ve spoken out in Australia about ‘fracking’ where they are breaking open the ground to release natural gas which really endangers the water supply. It was a kind of dangerous area to tread in, but I knew that it was incredibly important to make people aware because I don’t think enough people knew about it. That was important to me. I cancelled a tour of Japan many years ago because of the killing of whales and dolphins in tuna nets, and I can’t believe it’s still happening. So, there are a lot of things that I feel passionately about. Sometimes I’m a little nervous about it but that doesn’t stop me — you have to have the courage of your convictions.

The Flamingo Las Vegas welcomes Olivia Newton-John as the newest Las Vegas headliner

Olivia addresses the crowd at the welcome event as she begins her concert residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas

The Flamingo Las Vegas officially welcomed international superstar Olivia Newton-John as the newest headliner on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip.

Olivia made a grand entrance in a car from her hit movie "Grease" flanked, in Las Vegas style, by the iconic Chippendales and the Jubilee showgirls dressed as "T-Birds" and "Pink Ladies."

Former Mayor (and current Las Vegas First Gentleman) Oscar Goodman, County Commissioner Tom Collins and Flamingo Las Vegas hotel president Eileen Moore formally welcomed the superstar at the event today.

Las Vegas has waited a long time for the "Grease" star to begin her long-term residency.  And Olivia seems very happy to be putting down roots in one place.

"I have traveled so much in my career and being all over the world and being on planes and buses and trains and cars for so long that the idea of a residency was actually really nice to be in one place and one bed. I actually unpacked my bag last night and I thought, 'I have never done this,'" she said.

Olivia begins a long-term concert residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas beginning April 8, 2014.

For ticket information, head over to the Flamingo's website here.
