Nicole Eggert, who was a child star on the 80s sitcom Charles in Charge has accused her co-star, prominent Donald Trump supporter Scott Baio, of sexual molestation during the run of the show.
According to Eggert, the alleged multiple incidents occurred during the time she was 14 to 17-years-old.
Ask @scottbaio what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor. Creep. https://t.co/YrQydBKd0a— Nicole Eggert (@NicoleEggert) January 27, 2018
Adam Carl, an actor who appeared on the TV show at the time, says he remembers Eggert crying to him about the alleged assaults. His statement could serve as contemporaneous corroboration of her accusations.
When I worked on Charles in Charge in ‘88, I sat with you while you cried about that abusive asshole. I know you’re telling the truth and I’m so glad to see you speaking out.— Adam Carl (@AdamWho) January 27, 2018
I don’t know much, but I know Nicole didn’t suddenly make this up in 2013.— Adam Carl (@AdamWho) January 27, 2018
Renee Baio, Scott's wife, attempted to defend her man on Twitter:
,@NicoleEggert @ScottBaio Scott's legal team has served u more than 2 cease & desist letters,1u pretended 2B a Nanny & @DrOz killed ur show!— Renee Baio (@MrsScottBaio) January 27, 2018
The actor-turned-reality-star took to Facebook to deny the accusations saying in part, "I'm here today to talk about some allegations that have been made against me that aren't true by somebody named Nicole Eggert. The reason I'm doing Facebook Live is because nobody can edit me, nobody can change what I said. These are my words. And what I'm telling you is the truth."
Baio continued, "I'm going to knock down all these false claims against me. My reputation is being damaged. My family is being put through this and I'm done. I'm done. So, I'm going to walk you through this methodically and hopefully succinctly and please be patient because what I'm being accused of is horrible. I'm being accused of inappropriately touching her when she was a minor, and having sex with her when she was a minor...."
Baio did admit that once Eggert turned 18, he did have consensual sexual relations with her, but it was instigated by Eggert, not him.
"Now, any normal, heterosexual, red-blooded, American guy... the outcome would have been the same, the same thing would have happened," said Baio. "She seduced me. She came in the house and started kissing me."
Baio, whio is 57-years-old now, would have been about 26-year-old when the alleged abuse began.
Eggert posted additional tweets in response to questions on Twitter, but later deleted them.
