Collins kept her cancer battle private until just recently. According to People, she didn't tell her famous sister Joan Collins until a few weeks ago.

Joan has given a statement saying that she is "completely devastated" following the news of sister Jackie Collins' death.

"She was my best friend, " Joan, 82, said. "I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her."
