The Gothamist points out the "only in NYC" kind of tradition of the Bryant Park Summer Movie Night.
On Monday evenings, HBO sponsors a free movie in Bryant Park. The series lasts ten weeks this year, and getting decent space for your blanket is a serious tactic.
Folks beginning lining up by 3PM, but you're not allowed to put down your blanket until 5PM. And the movie doesn't begin until around 9PM because "dark." So, plenty of time to eat and drink, don't you know?
