Congratulations to the House Republican members - you broke set a record.

From a new poll by Gallup, the Republican party has set a record low for approval numbers since Gallup starting tracking them.

With the Republican-controlled House of Representatives engaged in a tense, government-shuttering budgetary standoff against a Democratic president and Senate, the Republican Party is now viewed favorably by 28% of Americans, down TEN POINTS from 38% in September.

This is the lowest favorable rating measured for either party since Gallup began asking this question in 1992.

More than 6 in 10 Americans view the Republican party unfavorably.  The Democrats faired a bit better with less than half of Americans viewing Dems unfavorably.

Remember, kids - yesterday Michele Bachmann was practically giddy that the House GOP was "winning."

Meanwhile, the American people are the ones losing here.

More from Gallup here.
