Kentucky: Gov. Beshear vetoes anti-discrimination act
Gov. Beshear has posted a statement on his official website:
"I have significant concerns that this bill will cause serious unintentional consequences that could threaten public safety, health care, and individuals’ civil rights. As written, the bill will undoubtedly lead to costly litigation. I have heard from many organizations and government entities that share those same concerns. Therefore, after giving this measure thoughtful analysis and consideration, today I vetoed the bill."The governor's site lists numerous ways in which the bill would negatively affect the citizens of Kentucky, not the least of which would be "weakening of local civil rights laws."
Look for the GOP legislators to attempt an override of the veto.

98 Degrees debuts new song: "Microphone"
98 Degrees is the latest boy band from yesteryear to drop a brand new single.
The men of 98 Degrees debuted the new track on New York radio station Z100 yesterday.
“Microphone” is the first new song from the group in a decade. Glad to hear Jeff Timmons lead off the song.
This is the first track from their upcoming CD titled "2.0"

Women of The Mary Tyler Moore Show to reunite
In the Hot In Cleveland episode, which tapes April 5, Elka (White) and Mamie Sue (Engel) decide to get their bowling team, named GLOB: The Gorgeous Ladies of Bowling, back together.
They reunite with former team members Diane (Moore), Peg (Leachman) and Angie (Harper). The quintet had a falling-out after their championship season went to their heads.
This is believed to be the first time the five former castmates will act in front of a camera since taping the MTM finale in 1977.
Hot In Cleveland, starring White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, returns for its summer season with a live episode June 19. The show was just renewed for a fifth season.

Fox New Poll: Support for gay marriage jumps 17% in last ten years

From Fox News: Support for gay marriage has increased by 27 percentage points among moderates since 2003, 22 points among independents and 21 points among Democrats. Over the same time period, the number of liberals backing gay marriage more than doubled.
When asked the narrower question of whether gay marriage is a right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, 53 percent of voters say it is, while 43 percent disagree.
Can it get any more fab than this? Fox News itself reporting a 17 point increase in support for equal rights for gays and lesbians over the past ten years?

Rhode Island: Providence 6th grader schools legislators on equality
Matthew Lannon, 12, a sixth-grader at Wheeler School in Providence, presented a voice and face of youth to the very adult topic of same sex marriage in Rhode Island.
Matthew, with his two moms, watching and lending him support, was one of the many advocates and opponents of gay marriage to testify before the House Judiciary Committee Thursday evening at the RI State House.
Excerpt from his testimony: "If there's one thing you don't mess with in life, it's love. My parents and all the other gay and lesbian people here want to be happy, just like you. All they want is to be treated fairly. But unlike most of you, they have to come again here year after year and explain over and over why their love is equal to yours. This year, you have the opportunity to change that. I say, choose love.”
