Mass Shootings: Trump Condemns "Racism, Bigotry And White Supremacy"

Donald Trump (screen capture)
Donald Trump denounced white supremacy, racism and bigotry on Monday as he addressed the two mass shootings that occurred over the weekend.

From the New York Times:

“In one voice our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy,” Mr. Trump said.

But Mr. Trump stopped well short of endorsing the kind of broad gun control measures that activists and Democrats have sought for years, instead falling back on time-honored Republican remedies, calling for stronger action to address mental illness, violence in the media and in video games.

He warned of “the perils of the internet and social media” with no acknowledgment of his use of those platforms to promote his brand of divisive politics.

It remained unclear whether Mr. Trump’s 10-minute remarks after one of the most violent weekends in recent American history could place him in a position to unify the nation when many Americans believe he is personally responsible for inflaming racial division. He took no responsibility for the atmosphere of division, nor did he recognize his own reluctance to warn of the rise of white nationalism until now.

Liar: After Followers Chant "Send Her Back" Trump Says He Disagreed With It & Tried To Stop It

At last night's campaign rally, Donald Trump whipped up the crowd to such a frenzy, they began chanting "Send her back," referring to Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Donald Trump

At last night's campaign rally, Donald Trump whipped up the crowd to such a frenzy, they began chanting "Send her back," referring to Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Trump claims he "disagreed it," and tried to stop the chant saying he began speaking "very quickly."

But if you watch the video, 13 long seconds of chanting goes by before he continues speaking. And when he does, it isn't to admonish the racist chant.

We do have video recordings, you know...

Rep. Omar responded to the news of the chant by tweeting a quote from author Maya Angelou:

Ohio: White Security Guard Pulls Gun On Black Uniformed Sheriff's Deputy

A white security guard in Ohio has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated menacing after he was caught on surveillance video pulling a gun on a uniformed black sheriff's deputy because he was armed.

A white security guard in Ohio has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated menacing after he was caught on surveillance video pulling a gun on a uniformed black sheriff's deputy because he was armed.

Lucas County Sheriff's deputy Alan Gaston dropped by his local IRS office in Toledo on May 31 to inquire about a letter he had received.

Dressed in his full sheriff's office uniform with his badge and gun clearly visible, Gaston was told by a security guard - identified as Seth Eklund - that he would have to leave his gun in his car to enter the offices.

Gaston explained he couldn't do that as he was on duty so he decided to leave the office.

Video footage shows Gaston exiting the office as the security guard followed him with his gun drawn and aimed at the deputy's back. With his gun drawn the entire time, Eklund followed the deputy to the building's elevators.

According to Gaston, the security guard attempted to take the sheriff's deputy "into custody."

Gaston told local ABC news affiliate 13ABC that he felt the best way to de-escalate the situation was to try and calmly walk away. The sheriff's deputy works as a defensive tactics instructor.

"I was basically preparing myself to be shot at that moment," said Gaston. "Bracing for a shot in my back. There's really no way to know how you're going to act when there's a gun pointed at you and when you think you're going to lose your life."

According to reports, a worker at the IRS office made a call to 911 saying there was someone there with a gun. At no point did the caller mention that the 'man with a gun' was a sheriff's deputy.

Gaston has filed a lawsuit against Eklund saying he has suffered emotional and psychological distress from the incident. He has been on medical leave from work since the incident.

Trump Twitter Rant: "Those Tweets Were Not Racist!"

Donald Trump

As the U.S. House prepares to vote to formally condemn Donald Trump's racist tweets directed at four progressive House Democratic congresswomen, Trump took to Twitter to again rant on the subject.

Trump claims there was nothing racist about telling women of color to "go back" to the countries they came from.

p.s. all four are U.S. citizens; three of the four born in the U.S.

The Donald also begged House Republicans not to vote against him regarding the resolution.

Mayor Pete Claps Back At Racist Troll At Campaign Event

Mayor Pete Buttigieg (L) shuts down racist troll at campaign event

Speaking to voters in Iowa during an Independence Day event, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg clapped back at a man for making a racially-charged comment about black Americans.

Due to the recent police shooting of an African American man in his hometown, Mayor Pete has encountered questions and scrutiny on matters related to race on the campaign trail.

“Mayor Pete, there has been some controversy in South Bend between the police and the black community, and I have a solution for you, and I’d like you to make a comment on my proposal,” said a man who later identified himself as Dave Begley. "Just tell the black people of South Bend to stop committing crime and doing drugs.”

After a pause in the crowd, Begley was roundly booed as Buttigieg shook his head before responding, “Sir, I think racism is not going to help us get out of this drama.”

“No, no, just stop committing crimes,” insisted Begley. “It has nothing to do with race.”

p.s. when the subject of your suggestion is "black people," the issue has intrinsically turned to race.

“The fact that a black person is four times as likely as a white person to be incarcerated as a white person for the exact same crime is evidence of systemic racism,” Buttigieg told Begley, as the crowd applauded. “It is evidence of systemic racism."

"And, with all due respect sir, racism makes it harder for good police officers to do their job, too," added the Democratic presidential contender. "It is a smear on law enforcement.”

As chants of "USA, USA" began, Mayor Pete stared the man down before continuing, "Sir, when black people and white people are treated the same by the criminal justice system, it will be easier for white people and black people to live in this country."

"And it will be easier for law enforcement to do their job," he added. "But racism has no place in American politics, or in American law enforcement."

Politico reports that Begley spent the rest of the event looking at his phone.

Begley later told reporters he is not a member of the Carroll County Democratic Party, but he attended the event as a writer for a conservative blog, Power Line. According to the website, he is a practicing attorney in Omaha, Nebraska. He has posted several 'reports' following Democratic presidential candidates out on the campaign trail.

Saying he planned to file a "full report on this," Begley insisted that he didn't believe his comment was racist and said he "resented" Buttigieg's response.

Begley told reporters after the question-and-answer session said he resented Buttigieg’s response. Begley said he didn’t think his comment was racist.

“I just urged him, in order to resolve the racial controversy in South Bend, to urge the blacks in South Bend to obey the law so they’re not going to have confrontations with the police," said Begley. "And he dismissed me as a racist, which I resented, and he knows he’s wrong.”

Mississippi: White Woman Pulls A Gun On Black Couple Having Picnic At Lake

A white female campground manager in Mississippi pulled a gun on a black couple and their dog accusing them of not having a reservation to picnic at the lake.
(screen capture)

A white female campground manager in Mississippi pulled a gun on a black couple and their dog accusing them of not having a reservation to picnic at the lake.

Jessica Richardson filmed the woman approaching her and her husband with a gun at the Kampgrounds of America in Starkville, Mississippi, on Sunday. Her husband, Sgt. Franklin Richardson, had just returned from a 9-month deployment in the Middle East and they were simply looking to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Brandishing her pistol, the woman told the couple to leave when she found out they didn't have a reservation.

According to reports, the manager has since been fired.

Richardson posted the video to Facebook with the following caption:

"RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL!! Today was a beautiful day so my husband (who's a vet), our 2 year old dog, and myself, decided to Google a lake to visit and have a picnic. We found a lake located in Starkville and decided to visit. Not five mins later a truck pulls up and a white lady screams at us, she then jumps out of her truck with a gun... and proceeded to point it at the 3 of us, simply because we didn't make reservations. After leaving, my husband stopped by the office and talked with her husband (they're the property managers). The husband tells my husband that reservations aren't needed for the lake."

One Twitter user says he identified the woman as Ruby Howell, whose Facebook profile describes as a Christian who loves the Confederate flag.

Man Pulls Gun On Four Young Women At McDonalds, Manager Attempts To Throw Victims Out

A white man, who grew impatient as four black girls were paying for their food at a Minnesota McDonalds, harassed the women to the point of pulling a gun on them.

To make things worse, the manager of the McDonalds attempted to throw the women out of the restaurant where the man was waiting for them.

Watch below.

My jaw literally dropped upon watching that video.

According to the website MuslimGirl, the four girls (Farida Osman, Jihan Abdullahi, Amal Mohammed, and Zainab Hassan) had been studying a few blocks away but grew hungry.

Heading down to McDonalds, they ordered their food and wanted to try using their Apple Pay. They weren't too familiar with the process and after some time gave up trying to use it.

I'll let MuslimGirl take it from here:
“Jihan heard the man say, ‘You’re probably using EBT’, and she immediately turned to him and said “Just because I’m Black, doesn’t mean I use EBT.”

Electronic Benefit Transfer, or EBT, is an electronic system that allows state welfare departments to issue benefit payments.

In Farida’s vivid recollection, this outrageously racist comment and the ensuing retort was immediately followed by the man “cussing them out,” and advancing aggressively towards the defenseless teens. He continued advancing, forcing Amal to call her friend Amin, who was seated in a booth nearby, for help, “because the man was so close she believed he was going to physically hurt her.”

“Amin and his friends came over and that’s when…the man pulls out the gun,” concluded Farida. The rest of the incident plays out in its entirety on video. The patron is seen aiming the gun at the teens as they scatter, while he swiftly backs out of the restaurant in a cowardly attempt to escape from the consequences of his obvious overreaction.
The manager of the McDonalds in question

In the aftermath of this horrifying episode, the video depicts a McDonald’s employee screaming at the astonished teenagers, in an expletive-laced frenzy, insisting that they get out of her store. Equally incensed, another gentleman at the restaurant jumped to the aid of the teenagers in distress, vehemently protesting the idea that the victims of this heinous attack should be thrown out into the streets, along with the gun-toting lunatic.

The staff of the McDonalds was reportedly hesitant to call the police, but eventually did after extreme pressure from the frightened young women.

Paul Ostergaard, owner of the franchise in question, responded to MuslimGirl about the incident:

“Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and employees. We take this matter seriously and are working with local law enforcement while we investigate the situation.”

Georgia: School Superintendent Resigns After Multiple Recordings Show Him Repeatedly Using N-Word

The Superintendent of Buford City schools in Georgia, Geye Hamby, has resigned in disgrace after he was named in a racial discrimination lawsuit.
Former school superintendent Geye Hamby
Holy Crap!

The Superintendent of Buford City schools in Georgia, Geye Hamby, has resigned in disgrace after he was named in a racial discrimination lawsuit.

Now, this wasn't a case of "he said, he said." Someone delivered TWO recordings of Hamby repeatedly using the N-word over and over.

Listening to the recording, the word certainly comes trippingly over the tongue as though it's a daily reference for him.

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Hamby had been placed on administrative leave earlier this week, after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the allegations. The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, includes recordings in which a person identified as Hamby used racial epithets repeatedly when referring to African-American workers at a construction site.

“(Expletive) that (n-word). I’ll kill these (expletive) — shoot that (expletive) if they let me,” the person identified as Hamby can be heard saying. The person speaking repeatedly refers to blacks as “deadbeat (n-word).”

This fine gentlemen was being paid a reported $340,000 a year to oversee children at four schools in his district.

Any guesses who he voted for in the 2016 election? Hmm?

White House Can't 'Guarantee' Trump Has Never Used N-Word

During a White House press briefing today, Donald Trump's press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters she can’t "guarantee” Trump has never used the N-word when asked about former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman's allegations about Trump using the racial slur.

Recording Appears To Show Aides Sought To "Spin" Trump's Alleged N-Word Recording

Donald Trump
I'm not sure what's more damning - that there seems to be more evidence that a tape exists with Donald Trump using the N-word, or that his supplicants publicly denied a conversation took place (that you can now hear with your own ears) where they discuss how to 'spin' the incident.

More @Starbucks Issues: Bathroom Inequality In Action

(Image via screen cap)

More racial issues for Starbucks today as another black Starbucks customer was denied use of a bathroom before he made his purchase.

Brandon Ward requested to use the bathroom before he made his purchase today at the Starbucks located in Los Angeles at the corner of Artesia and Hawthorne, but was denied the code.

But soon after that exchange, a white male - who had not made a purchase yet - was given the bathroom code.

Another one of those things that make you go, "Hmm..."

From Shaun King:

Meet Brandon Ward. He was Starbucks - about to make a purchase - and needed to use the restroom.

They denied him the code.

He then finds a white man, Weston, who came out of the restroom.

He had not made a purchase but they gave HIM the code.

RACISM.

The store manager at the counter didn't like her picking and choosing of bathroom attendees made public. And I have to point out the store manager's woeful lack of skill in handling the situation.

What would have been wrong with apologizing instead of escalating the situation? Is that what Starbucks teaches store managers to do?

I don't want to blame Starbucks as an entire corporation but for this to occur today after the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia Starbucks that received terrible national attention, it's hard to believe some company-wide email didn't go out immediately about handling such incidents.

Why are black men being singled out to be ejected from Starbucks restaurants while, as this video shows, white men are allowed use of the premises without a purchase?

Trumps Sends Dog Whistle: NFL Owners Are "Afraid Of Their Players"

Days after Donald Trump sparked a national controversy over NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem before football games, Trump now sounds a very audible dog whistle saying NFL owners are "afraid of their players."

From the Washington Post:

President Trump said in an interview broadcast Thursday that NFL owners are “afraid of their players,” his latest provocative comments in a crusade against those who take a knee during the national anthem.

Trump urged the football league to adopt and enforce a rule that requires players to stand during the anthem He said he has talked in recent days to several team owners, who he said are “in a box” on the issue.

“I think they’re afraid of their players if you want to know the truth, and I think it’s disgraceful,” Trump said in an interview broadcast of Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.” “They’ve got to be tough, and they’ve got to be smart.”

Washington Post sports columnist Kevin Blackistone explains why NFL players are taking a knee, and how Trump has high-jacked the movement for his own uses.

New Hampshire: 8-Year-Old Biracial Boy "Lynched" By Teenagers

(image via Facebook)
An 8-year-old bi-racial boy was hung from a tree by a 14-year-old boy in Claremont, New Hampshire.

Via RawStory:
According to the victim’s grandmother Lorrie Slattery, he was playing with a group of children and teens when they began to taunt him with racist epithets and throw sticks and rocks at him.

Someone stood on a picnic table and the group wrapped a rope from a nearby tire swing around the boy’s throat, then kicked him off the table.

The victim swung back and forth three times before he was able to free himself. None of the teens came to his aid.

NH1.com said Chief Chase refused to state whether the crime was racially motivated.

The incident, which took place on August 28, has locals up in arms as the police have appeared to be more interested in protecting the alleged perpetrator than finding justice for the victim.

Claremont Police Chief Mark Chase refused to comment on the case saying his department is still investigating. He also noted that those involved are juveniles and that they should be “protected.”

“Mistakes they make as a young child should not have to follow them for the rest of their life,” Chase said.

As the boy was being flown to medical treatment, his mother took to Facebook denouncing the attack, “So my son is being flown to Dartmouth after a 14-year-old kid decided to hang him from a tree. I don’t care if this was a so called accident or not. My son almost died because of some little sh*t teenage kids.”

Since Donald Trump's election, the U.S. has seen a spike in hate crimes.

Miss Texas Trolls Trump At Miss America Pageant Over Charlottesville Racists

Miss Texas Morgana Wood

At last night's Miss America Pageant, Miss Texas Margana Wood didn't pause a second when answering a question from out People editor-in-chief Jess Cagle about President Trump's handling of the Charlottesville debacle.

Cagle queried, “Last month a demonstration of neo-Nazi white supremacists and the KKK in Charlottesville Virginia turned violent and a counter protester was killed. The president said there was shared blame with quote ‘very fine people on both sides’. Were there? Tell me yes or no and explain.”

Wood's answer was delivered deftly:

“I think that the white supremacist issue — it was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country and that is the number one issue right now.”

In the end, Miss North Dakota Cara Mund took home the crown.

Viral Video: Driver Fails To Signal While Turning, Police Officer Approaches Car With Gun Drawn

This video has gone viral overnight with over 100K retweets.

Apparently, the driver was stopped for failing to signal at a turn. With a black man at the wheel, the police officer approached the car with his gun drawn.

He then pointed the gun at the driver.

For failing to signal???

I don't know a single white person who's been stopped for failing to signal and had a police officer draw a gun on them.

Clearly the officer repeats over and over "Ok" as his only response for legal reasons with the camera recording.

Americans need to have a discussion with our police offices. There needs to be a real dialogue.

If there was a reason to draw his gun, I'd have preferred the officer explain a rational reason. I'd have preferred he TALK with the driver. I'd have preferred he have a dialogue with the driver.

At least the officer kept calm.

NFL's Michael Bennett Says He Was Singled Out By Las Vegas Police For Being Black

Michael Bennett
Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett tweeted today about an experience many African American men endure.

The short version of the story: after attending the Mayweather-McGregor fight in Las Vegas, Bennett was walking back to his hotel with hundreds of people. Folks heard what sounded like gun shots and began running. But police singled out Bennett, pulled their guns on him saying they would "blow his fucking head off."

He was cuffed and thrown in the back of a police car.

He was eventually released with no apology or explanation after they realized he's not a thug, but a Super Bowl champ.

Bennett has rightfully hired famed civil rights attorney John Burris.

President Bush On US Under Trump: I Don't Like The Racism And Name-Calling

During President Obama's years in the White House, former President George W. Bush refused (wisely) to criticize his successor saying he didn't want to make a difficult job that much harder.

A month into President Trump's administration, though, Bush has voiced some artfully phrased comments about the new Commander-In-Chief.

Via PEOPLE.com:

“I don’t like the racism and I don’t like the name-calling and I don’t like the people feeling alienated,” Bush, 70, tells PEOPLE in an interview for the new issue of the magazine on newsstands Friday.

“Nobody likes that.”

A spokesman for Bush previously told PEOPLE that neither he nor the former first lady voted for Trump – or for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton – in November. Both of the Bushes, who had campaigned for Bush’s younger brother Jeb in the 2016 Republican primaries, cast write-in votes on Election Day for a candidate they did not reveal.

Trump Ohio Campaign Chair Resigns Over "No Racism" Before Obama Comment

After calling the Black Lives Matter movement "a stupid waste of time," and saying low voter turnout on behalf of African-Americans is indicative of "the way they're raised," Donald Trump's Ohio campaign chair, Kathy Miller, has resigned.

Oh, did I mention she told the Guardian, "I don't think there was any racism until Obama got elected?"

Seriously.

Kathy Miller, who is white and chair of the Republican nominee’s campaign in Mahoning County, made the remarks during a taped interview with the Guardian’s Anywhere but Washington series of election videos.

“If you’re black and you haven’t been successful in the last 50 years, it’s your own fault. You’ve had every opportunity, it was given to you,” she said.

“You’ve had the same schools everybody else went to. You had benefits to go to college that white kids didn’t have. You had all the advantages and didn’t take advantage of it. It’s not our fault, certainly.”

Jan Brewer: Stop Calling Trump Supporters 'Racists' Just Because We're 'Racists

Talking Points Memo recaps a heated exchange between Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

During a Sunday panel discussion on CNN’s “State of the Union,” former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) railed against President Obama and complained that Republicans are so frequently labeled bigots.

Brewer was responding from comments Obama made on Friday warning against “charlatans” and “bigotry,” likely referring to Donald Trump.

“President Obama just always comes tearing after Republicans constantly, calling names and calling people bigots and racists. And that’s their big comeback, you know. And it’s absolutely ridiculous,” Brewer said. “To see a president speak like that is offensive.”

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) then jumped in to defend Obama.

“President Obama doesn’t say this about all Republicans. But he did say rightly that Donald Trump is a bigot, Donald Trump is a racist, Donald Trump is, in fact, making fascist appeals,” he said. “That’s why many self-respecting Republicans are not supporting Donald Trump.”

Later, when asked if Trump has said anything offensive, Brewer said that Trump is new to politics and has had to revise some remarks.
